They did that in the 70's. The classic Buster Crabbe cinema serial dates back to the 30's, and the character dates to the late 20's.

True, but the 70's version was better than the serials IMHO. So I'm waiting for another childhood memory to fall victim of the Hollywood hacks.

  14. Re:Where will this madness end? on Charging the Unhealthy More For Insurance · · Score: 5, Insightful

The problem is that this is GROUP health insurance, not individual health insurance. The insurance company is taking a chance based on the group average. Some will cost more and some less than average. That is how they play the game. So they should not be able to charge more to some people in the group. This is just a way to make more money off of the consumer.

Now if these were individual health plans, then the market should decide. Don't like what company X charges, go to one that charges less. But employees don't have this choice in a group plan, so I'm against it.

  15. Re:Albums are great on Singles, Not Albums, Define Music Industry Success · · Score: 2, Insightful

Albums are like a complete work, singles are merely chapters

    • Most
albums are just a single or two with whatever drek they can afford to buy for them to record. The few albums that are "complete works" tend to do very poorly. Most people want a the few songs from the artists they like. That is why mix tapes and cds are so popular, no junk.
One of the only labels that got that was K-Tel. They gave the public what they wanted (usually) and none of the junk. And where are they now? Gone. Face it, RIAA, albums just don't sell.

  16. Back to the Future on Singles, Not Albums, Define Music Industry Success · · Score: 5, Insightful

Recorded music started out as singles and is going back to that format. The only reason I can see for the album was to promote and justify the 33 1/3 LP format. With digital music, this concept is totally outdated and destined to die. Let me pick what I want and don't tell me what I have to take to get it. It's like buying a the whole Mu Gu Gai Pan meal when all you want from it is the egg rolls. Michael

Sorry, but when you have a 2 mile long iron asteroid striking at 20km/s at a 45 degree angle, you get a released energy yield of 6.67 x 10^6 MegaTons TNT, it won't matter WHERE on Earth you are. The burning ejected material that reenters all over the globe is putting your lights out for good. If you are lucky, you are close to ground zero. If not, you get to linger for a few hours. Does the name Pompeii ring a bell? Imagine that on a GLOBAL scale. It would be Asteroids 2, Earthlings 0.
