  4. well now on Does File-Sharing Really Hurt the Music Biz? · · Score: 1

in order to do this calculation you would also have to know the units shipped and all those fun facts that are avalable on the RIAA website... but now for the hard to get stats like # of albums release that is the hard to find information not to mention find some corrilation between the # of computers that have internet access and the # of users on file sharing websites and many more factors.

the RIAA has released less cd singles and albums last year then they did in 2004 and they wonder why their # 's are dropping... they are just pissed they are not making as much as they did back in 1998-2000 but the reason for that is not because of people downloading music it is because of independent lables... its just like the fall of the big studios in hollywood back in the day, they were making pleanty of movies its just no one wanted to watch the same shit that they have seen many times before they wanted new material, and in this case no one wants to listen to the same crap over and over.

now neglect the same shit over and over part and add into the RIAA figures alll the independent lables out there and i am sure there would be a increase in sales.... look at fuled by ramen they are not part of the RIAA and they have artists that have amazing lyrics and songs that sell a LOT... that all being said RIAA needs to get more bands and better music... simple as that

DNC list does... it is for any one calling to the US must abide by it even if they do not reside with in the USA... now here is the really messed up part ( i was the IT guy for a small telemarketing company) and we would get complaints filed against us for violating the FCC DNC list what then i would have to go and look at the automated dialer and see if we called the person or not and if we did, then i would check if their # was in the DNC list for that month (we have 1 month to update the DNC i did it every 3 weeks) and if they were then we were screwed... but the turnaround for the complaints were about within 2 weeks we would get a call saying we violated the DNC when it was just that the person lied and said we called them but we called their 2nd line and not the 1st that was on the DNC... (only 2 times were they on the list and it turned out it was a programing problem with the automated dialer software... so not my fault... and we didnt get charged the company that made the software for the dialer did...)

ok sorry but i applaud the idea of age restriction or at least competence testing. i my self am a DSL technician and the # of calls i get from people over 50 not having a clue how to use the internet want to set it up... it goes like this... "ok sir click on the start button its the green button in the bottom left hand corner...(5 seconds later hear him acknowledge with a grunt) ok now ......." waiting about 5-15 seconds for the user to respond... then i have also had the complete opposite with others. i guess the internet should only be for people who can spell HTTP:// right when u ask them to go to HTTP://(enter router ip here) due to the fact that most browsers try to load the damn search page when u don't do http what totally ruins my day...

And for those to tell me i have horrible grammar and all that crap I DONT CARE! i am a technician for a reason my notes consist of shorthand and gibberish. as are most notes in any CRM program that only the agents who use the program will understand. so enough with the people who will reply to this and say "well you should of used a comma instead of a period" in response to you... why don't you go and become a high school teacher and take a 50% pay cut to do something to better society and not your bank account... and that is about it for all you who just have nothing to do other then correct spelling and grammar on /. :)

i dont like the OSI model :\ it was on every test and i could never remember it. So leaves me at the question, why did they choose OSI as the abbreviation? other then the fact that it is Open Source Initiative but WHY, in calling it Open Source Initiative means that MS will want to get a peice of it dew to the Initiative part. concidering the deffinition is (or one of them) "the power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do" or if u really want to get into it "the ability to assess and initiate things independently " meaning they really wouldnt need approval to get an "OSI" approval except from their own self. oh well,...
