Never thought I had dyslexia, never imagined I had problems reading, but holy crap reading a page in anti-dyslexia fonts like this one http://www.pixelscript.net/gilldyslexic/ is like all the words leap off the page making sudden sense in an instant.

I wonder how much simply the font weight (line thickness) affects here. For example, on Windows, try how much the "semi-bold" variant (included in the font) of Segoe UI makes it nicer to read.

Just yesterday I installed the final version of Windows 8 from DreamSpark to a netbook just for fun. The result? It actually ran smooth, but none of the Metro apps could be run due to the 1024x600 resolution. Not a big loss, but I was slightly surprised that they actually completely skipped us netbook-connoisseurs.

As a sidenote, it was funny how in W8 many of the texts have been changed to a casual, "user-friendly" style. "While we set up your stuff, please enjoy a pizza. Meanwhile we'll send some info to Microsoft, but you can change this later."

Very hard, but maybe not next to impossible. MenuetOS is written in assembly, Rollercoaster Tycoon is written too. If we had a large and competent development team in a big software house, I suppose it would be possible to make a full OS, browser or word proc in bare assembly. Not that it would be feasible or anything though.

This is the problem with desktop Linux- it doesn't do anything BETTER than Windows. I mean, what's the "killer app" for desktop Linux? I can't think of one. Lack of viruses and stability are nice, no question, but aren't really enough to make up for the lack of compelling apps that are better than their Windows equivalents.

A big plus for desktop Linux is that you get a lot of good apps out of box, for no cost, and they can be automatically upgraded along with the rest of the OS.
