Just what we need something that consumes fuel and urinates CO2. Am I the only one who reads Wired here? I want to see pebble bed reactors! They're cleaner than these Zero Emissions monsters. They're safer that the Nuke Plant(tm) down the street from me. And they can be small enough to be placed closer to where the power is consumed, resulting in less wasted energy in transmission.
There have been too many stories here about people cramming things in a box. I want to see something new. Something like a Nintendo with a hard disk with all the games ever made for the NES on it. And, a good interface to navigate those numerous titles.
There own press release states that this camera is a "70 million megapixel camera". That's a 11,111,111.1x improvement on my brand spanking new 6.3 megapixel camera. Those crazy Swiss!
Can't replace at all? Microsoft has to keep adding crap to windows in order to sell the next version. By the time XBOX2, or what ever the product will be marketed as, there will be some rock solid alternatives to windows98 + office2000 for free. And maybe windows2000 + officeXP alternatives by 2006.
Linux needs a great RAD before it can work its way into the small to medium offices staffed with Visual Basic script writers.
When or if microsoft gets to a point where they control a good amount (video,music,magazine,coffee) distribution they might start selling other windows + (dvr,radio,electronic,coffee-making) boxs. If they have 40 billion dollars to spend on bad products then they will.
Could they even legally do this? Wouldn't that be some type of conflict of interest? If they sell windows to computer manufactures... Wait a minute... Why even sell the hardware? Come up with a performance spec and give the manufactures a royalty payment for the amount of consoles that they sell times the amount of games sold times one over some magic number greater than one! They could call the OS Win/G and they wouldn't have to include 3.1. God I am getting old.
VPNs... I'm not sure. That seems too clientServerish. If I was doing something like a WAREZ group I would use Nullsoft's WASTE. It's p2p, secure(highly encrypted), and it relativly unknown.
I totally agree about the fact that John Woo movies suck. Paycheck sucks. Windtalkers sucks. Mission Impossible II sucks. Face Off sucks. Broken Arrow sucks. This guy couldn't make a good movie to save his grandma!
