The only place that I have ever seen the name Dr. who has been on slashdot.
Are any of these posters from America?
When is the last time any of these shows aired?
Or, if they are any good, is there a Dr. who bittorrent site, since the BBC open-sourced
their content.
Even if Franklin did say it first, he was not a very good father. Or, maybe his son was not the best of sons. Although, by many accounts, he did an admirable job raising his grandson.
It looks interesting. But, if I were to switch window managers I would want something that could have a giant virtual desktop that I could scale, in fine increments, to fit my screen. So, if my windows were taking up 100% of my screen i could zoom out, say to 90% giving me 10% more work area.
Slashdot really needs a scribbler inline with the posts. If each message could get a 4 kilobyte black and white drawing surface to illustrate ideas that would ROCK.
With MDI you have a Z-Axis. Keep the sub windows maximized and ctrl-tab or ctrl-shift-tab between windows. The tools stay in the same location and have a key, like tab, that hides the tools occasionally.
What about content? Why even purchase a $$$$ HDTV unless content exists? I guess you could get DirectTV and get a few HD channels for $$$. Maybe after Netflix starts renting HD content will I get a thin, light, no burn-in, good black levels thing to hang on my wall.
The bigest problem with any language is pitch-shifting. If you bend anymore than a few cents, it sounds really bad. If I had a sample "aaah" I would not play something that looked like this:
That was strange enough. But, the new voice could use some work. I played it through iTunes and when the voice faded into the next song in the list, the voice almost sounded decent. I don't see how so many companies trying so hard come up with piss poor TTS. It might be cool to mix five voices into one channel and make something like a room full of people repeating, chanting maybe, some arbitrary text at your command. TTS has been around at least since E.T.. Remember the red talking box? That box doesn't sound much worse than what we have now, some twenty years later.
Hint: Adobe is to Photoshop as Intuit is to Quickbooks. People do not call GIMP Gnome. So why then do they call Photoshop Adobe? Arrrgh!
and this ...

And there was also this one.
I remember a few other stories that where covered here, including: Slashdot | Why geek geniuses may lack social graces, Slashdot | How To Deal With (Techie) Prima Donnas and another one which I cannot find. I looked for smart kids sports and excerise.
HOWARD, Wis. -- A man and his wife ducked behind a refrigerator when bullets began exploding in their oven, authorities say. The Rest of the story
I wonder if I could turn my mouse into a scanner too. Should I post this into What (non-PC) Hardware Do You Hack??

There is a printer that works in a very similar fashion. I am looking for the link right now.

Great news!! According to Bob Lazar, Element 115 has a "Strong Nuclear Force" to generate the gravity field for "Space-Time Compression." http://www.gravitywarpdrive.com/Element_115.htm

What gimp really needs is something like expose.

When is the last time Jesus has slid his ass down a chimney to give anyone presents? I vote for a religion with Santa Claus replacing Jesus.
I wonder how real-time is HURD? It just needs a good MIDI server and the pocket book of IBM.

What is a non-scientific picture anyways? Terraserver has a much larger picture of most of the United States.
...as you do not look the gift website in the mouth.
I should have posted this anonymously.

The bigest problem with any language is pitch-shifting. If you bend anymore than a few cents, it sounds really bad. If I had a sample "aaah" I would not play something that looked like this:
... h1 ... 00
sample: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Pitch +1+2+3+2+3+1+2+1+2+3+2+3+1+2+1+2+3+2
i would do something more like
samples: a1a2a3
pitch: 000000

I have been trying to find samples of the new and improved TTS in OSX 1.3. Too bad apple did not decide to offer samples on their site.
Here is a solo. And, yes it does sound like a vocorder.
