    I think the analogy was meant to portray the ability of more than a handful of people to decide what is included in the text, as in the Open Source Software movement. In that sense, I think it would be an apples to apples comparision.

    In a perfect world, the best ideas will percolate to the top and we'll have a better product.
    In the real world however, I've noticed that not only the cream rises to the top, but also the scum.

    Because of that, there will always be a need for some editing which will cause some to squeal long and loud. The trick will be to find people of integrity to do the editing.

    If you notice, I didn't really agree one way or the other, just stated what I see. I work for a contract agency placing software engineers, etc on contracts for clients. Every one we deal with requires drug testing and background checks before they step through the door.

    Whether or not I agree or you agree does nothing to change the policy of the client. You want to work there? You have to take and pass the tests....simple as that. It's not uncommon for this to occur.

    I'm sure that will be the problem. Unless you search on Ebay or Craigslist for someone with one in their basement....good luck. I have a 5 1/4 floppy drive and some disks set aside for the exact same reason.....someday I'll want that info and then I'll be all set.

    I bet for every 1 person that realizes a lower bill, 5 will have an increase. The reason? The idea sounds good now assuming the variables will remain static....they won't.

    As soon as a change is made, the laws of eqaulibrium will kick in and what is sure to happen is the ISP's will adjust their pricing to either maintain (or probably increase) their take.

    That won't happen if people start paying less.

    I agree that we're talking about ancient history in security compared to today.

    Also, this was the administrative offices, not the hand out the cash part of the bank.
    Fingerprints are useless, since the cleaners were the ones suspected, things were wiped down. They just needed more than "I think it's the cleaners" to go on, hence the cameras. I was in the Facilities dept. who had the same access as the cleaners, so we were #2 on the suspect list....

    Yeah, well not to rain on your parade, but in a past life (15 yrs ago) I worked in a bank. We had someone stealing stuff from the marketing dept. (they had all the good electronics). So security set up survellance cameras and a VCR to tape the criminal.

    Say it with me.....what do you think was missing the next day? That's right, not only the electronic bait, but the cameras and the VCR.

    Once they land, out jumps Arnie and his crew, packing toughbook laptops, rackmout equipment chomping on a cigar, looking pissed off at having to go to Romainia. Borat runs over, salutes and grabs some equipment and throws it in the back of a jeep. They ride over to the command tent to get their breifing, set up the surplus Carnivore equipment.
