I always wondered... what use is the phone and pda options of the n-gage if you drained the battery after 2 hours of playing some fancy 3d game? I mean, the phone cant work with no battery... and with a punny 3 hours of battery life (less when playing intensive 3d games)...
The article doesnt go into details... but what if we start to mass produce them? Would my computer fan emit enough vibration to get some energy? What about hearthbeats?
Could we put some of them under the most used roads or on wind mills? (spinning would emit vibrations, the wind too).
I'm pretty sure that even if they dont produce much energy, a LOT of them would produce a lot of energy, vibrations are waves and they can go through a lot of those devices before beign too weak to produce any energy.
The thing is, I was not writing about NWN but about Savage.:)
There were too many people saying that savage would be the next NWN when everything points to the fact that they are on schedule to release the linux version at the same time as the windows version.
Hell, they could even release the linux version first, but they want one box for both version, and frankly, its the best they can do.
We rarely hear about linux crashes, and I've encountered very few in my first times in the beta, right now it doesnt crash anymore.
Still, theres lots of bug reports about crashes on windows... though its not that bad and for most of the windows tester its perfectly stable. It must have something to do with all those Dell, HP and Gateway machines out there...;)
Disclaimer: this what I have found out so far, I may be totaly wrong. Dont take what I wrote for granted.
As a linux beta tester, I can tell you that the Linux version is every bit as good, if not better (more stable) than the windows version.
Patches for the beta are released at the same time for linux and windows and linux performances are equal or better than windows (if you run a lightweight WM, or no WM at all and no other proggy, you WILL see a difference).
Every features of the game, even the little graphical details no one would notice are in the Linux version, auto updater included.
So, there, if you dare miss this game cuz of all the FUD you see here, I'm really sorry for you.
I'd check the iBook, specs says it can go up to 35c, so it should be enough for your need. At worst, the fan will start.:) Lots of people have been bragging about their iBook fan never starting even over 30c, so I'm pretty sure it will work at 40c.
If you ever come to Québec City, don't miss the "Musée de la civilisation" (Museum of civilisation or something). They've got tons of interesting expositions ranging from the pharaos and egypt to the early colonies of america and of course the inuits and indians of america. Depending of the time of the year, you will catch a different exposition, though inuits are supposed to be there all year long to complement the changing expositions.
You might also want to visit the "Château Frontenac" and the ruins of old Québec's fortifications. It quite interesting if you like history.
There's also a very nice Aquarium, but I suppose that when you've seen one, you've seen them all.
If you happen to go to Montréal city too, there's tons of things to see, but I suppose someone already posted them by now (I dont know Montréal very well yet so I'm not a very good reference anyway).
Little tip if you come to Québec, do so during late May, June, July or August... its the only time where its relatively hot here, and since you come from Australia, you might not like our harsh autumns and winters.
Well, when the big corporations will decide its time to blur the line between copyrights and property laws, it will happen. The super duper DMCA might do just that.
Say, if you listen to this song, the 100 meter radius around your house now belongs to the RIAA.;)
Star number 65 000 561 002 023 162 and all its surrounding planets, planetoids, asteroids, natural and artificial satellites, gas clouds, neutrinos and dark matter is officialy my sole property according to copyright law #1361. If you dare come into the 235 934 347 238 484 km radius of this solar system, I will sue you to death according to the super duper interstellar DMCA.
Actualy, I've seen polluriel a few times, but its very rare and most people dont even know what it is when you say it. Pourriel, although not much used, is much more know to the average people.
The first challenge is to find an archive that still has it.
I suppose by "does it still run?" that you mean does it run on brand new hardware? I dont know, when you check today's hardware, say, the NForce2, you need kernel 2.4.21 to have everything supported... and it wont even boot with 2.2, so I seriously doubt that slackware 1 would run on anything more recent than a K6 or P2/3 on an old motherboard. Architechtural changes in the Athlon and P4 would probably not be supported.
Just a guess though, I'd love to be proven wrong.:)
So, to encourage sales, he added a special password, different for each CD, that allows access to his site to download access additionnal content online, updated every few weeks. And guess what? It worked marvels.
1. Try harder to force the GBA-GC connector down people's throats.
I don't have a problem with that, I think it's a great idea. I can't wait to play the games using it.
2. Yay, we paid EA not to abandon the GC!
I never play EA games.
3. We're working on a successor to the GC which will be out in 2005, but really, we're still focused on the GC. Seriously.
Well, looking at the current GC lineup, I'd say that they are doing a good job.
4. You're not gonna see Mario shooting hookers, but hey, we're not a kiddie console!
Good thing, I don't think shooting hookers is any fun. What matters is gameplay, not the ammount of blood the console can render.
5. Sure, other consoles besides the GameCube might be getting MGS *3*, but screw that, wouldn't you rather play a remake of the MGS 1?
Uuuh... the last MGS I played was the first one, and I hated it. Fixed camera screws everything, if it was a FPS it could have been good.. so, MGS is not a selling point with me.
6. And if you're still itching for a remake after RE and MGS1, we're also gonna remake...wait for it...PAC-MAN!!
And what? It does look fun.
7. We've got a brand new game based on Star Wars eps. 4-6!
I don't care about those cames.
So, from my point of view, the GC lineup is still awesome... remember, what makes a good game is gameplay and Nintendo has always been the best in that department.
I still think the best lineup goes to Nintendo. (GBA and GC) It even makes me think that PC gaming is not superior anymore (linux only here).
All I can say is, wow! So many great games! How will I be able to afford all those great GBA games, then buy a gamecube, and buy all the great GC games?
I've been dissing consoles for a while now, cuz of the Sony effect (no gameplay, all videos), but Nintendo is really pushing the industry back were it belongs: in the gameplay departement.
I'm starting to have fate in consoles again! (actualy, only in the gamecube and gba for now, but sony will have to get their act together and release games with good gameplay for a change;)
Definitly the same here, but using debian and going to get one of those awesome iBook g4. :)
I have the chance to work with Macs at work now, and I must say I love them.
I think Windows XP activation and hardware modification monitoring is the worst.

Shhh, dont say it loud. It will be much more fun to tell the world once longhorn is released. ;)
Actualy, any law that can be used to prosecute spammer is good. It gives a lot more liability for spammers sending sexualy explicit spam.
The more laws a spammer breaks, the more time he will spend in jail... Hopefully, else the spammer will have to pay a bigger sum, which is good too.
First thing that got into my head was Homer running covered with mud. Homer Simpsons is the great Ape!
;)
It was in one of the first episodes, everyone must have seen it at least once.
The thing is, I was not writing about NWN but about Savage. :)

Just like what the early explorers of the 1400 were thinking. There's so much stuff to see, and yet we cant visit all those places with our galleons.
Today, there's so much stuff to see, and yet our shuttle can't even take us to mars.

You have been warned, I saw it first!
Actualy, I've seen polluriel a few times, but its very rare and most people dont even know what it is when you say it. Pourriel, although not much used, is much more know to the average people.
It's "pourriel" which is a mix of courriel and "pourriture" (pourrie) which means "rotten".
I dont knw if the term has been officialy accepted, but it's been pending for a few years now.
The first challenge is to find an archive that still has it.
:)

Actualy, Microsoft do track their email, cuz Average Joe uses hotmail, its the only true _free_ email right? ;)
A bus speed of 1 ghz? This means a multiplicator of... 2 !
FranÃois Pérusse here in Québec did it first about a year ago when he released "L'album pirate" (Pirate's record" or something...). It's not a standard music CD, it's rather a collection of jokes he created that plays on radio. It was the most pirated french material here in Québec (6 albums total I think).
So, to encourage sales, he added a special password, different for each CD, that allows access to his site to download access additionnal content online, updated every few weeks. And guess what? It worked marvels.
Considering it would be VERY easy to convert everything to PNG, and transparency would even work with EI/Win if you set the background to be white.
There's really no reason not to do it.
Does UO has something that other mmorpg dont have? A well balanced craft system. It makes all the difference seriously.
:)
There's nothing more fun than testing out on monsters your new armor suite and grandmaster sword.
Cut n paste of your points and what I think.
