That is the most malicious thing I have ever heard.
Well, maybe not, but you are still a jackass. I don't see how you presume to have the right to browse through something so personal, much of which has no relationship to the school and especially your classroom. That is okay though. Ultimately, these kids are smarter than you. Not only can you no longer hear their phones ring, but soon all of the information will be password protected.
You did... y'know... read the article, right? A little bit?
The document was stored on his own PC, not an SBC server. That does not make him not an idiot but you aren't coming off all that bright right now either.
What is the issue? The girl knew what she was getting into when she climbed into the bed. She did not seem particularly surprised or offended by the events. I do not know what type of parties the majority of slashdotters attend but this seems like harmless banter. Now, if she objected or expressed discomfort with what was happening, the situation might be different, but these are consenting adults.
As to government restrictions on internet broadcasts, let them try. There will always be a way for the truly dedicated to find the information they are looking for.
I also believe that it is bad for society as a whole for there to be extreme disparities in wealth.
I think a much fairer and more sensible tax code would be usage and asset based with no income taxes whatsoever.
Use taxes would be earmarked towards specific programs. They would include such things as gasoline taxes whose revenues would go toward transportation infrastructure and environmental programs or cigarette & alcohol taxes whose revenues would go towards health care programs.
Asset taxes would be sharply graduated with exemptions on a first home up to say 5x median value and investment assets up to say 200x median income.
I have been installing it on every machine I touch and have not had to re-service a single one do to malware in well over a year since I discovered it. It is also extremey fast and light on resources.
The only annoyance is the stupid tag it puts on all of your emails by default, but that can be disabled.
Every time I hear talk of a space elevator, I wonder about this very thing. Our understanding of how electromagnetism works in the ionosphere is limted at best. I am not sure that you could expect a power surge in the way you describe, but I can easily imagine that the effect of essentially "grounding" the ionosphere will have global consequences on weather patterns.
A friend of mine owns a mastering studio and contracts out large pressings. A few days before the release of the Da Vinci Code, he was contacted by somebody who claimed to have a copy and wanted 10,000 of them pressed as soon as possible.
Of course, my friend turned him down.
Judging by TFA, he must have finally found somebody to do it.
From the link that you mention which talks about the Web 2.1 server side blink, it states:
Note: if you did not see the blinking text above, it means that your browser is not compliant with the Web 2.1 standards. An easy way of checking whether your browser is standards compliant is to check whether the installation files for your browser were smaller than 50MB, or the run-time memory usage is less than 300MB. If this is the case, you should download a more recent browser to get the full Web 2.1 experience.
Umm Mozilla Firefox displays this blinking fine, is WAAAAY under a 50MB install file, and it takes up no where near 300MB of memory when running. What was this guy smoking? Or am I just missing something?
Whatever it was, it must've been different than what I'm smoking, because I just had to enable Java
When the Napster maelstrom hit the recording industry, Dr. Dre, along with Metallica, was one of the first to hurl accusations of copyright infringement at the popular file sharing site
Slightly offtopic but a friend of mine is a producer who at one time worked at the Plant, a famous studio Metallica has used to record albums. Lars was visiting my friends private studio one day where he showed Lars this great new program that you could use to download free music and software. Lars was fascinated. We all know the rest.
While I disagree with your comments on global warming, I also think that it is about ime environmentalists came around to nuclear energy. If managed properly, nuclear can greatly alleviate our energy problems. Waste can be stored in a safe and isolated location and modern plants have almost no chance of meltdowns.
The environmental movement today has become a front for anti-corporate activists.
What if the government decided that it was going to provide coffee - an essential to at least as many people as the internet - for free - and use taxes I was paying to do it.
I suppose when the villain is some 'evil telco' that makes you wait on hold for twenty hours, it seems a little more 'right' to screw them on the huge investments they had to make to get the last mile lines in place. But it's still the same.
First, I understand it is your business so you may have a skewed perspective, but coffee is not that important in the grand scheme of things. A more accurate analgy would be water which is truly essential. If that were only available via the free market people would literally die. Internet connectivity is becoming as essential to peoples economic lives.
If that's the case, then why isn't the local state government running the telco industry? I'm not in favor of this, but that would be the next logical step...would it not?
Why not federal? I am completely in favor of governments providing these types of services. In the "information age", communications are as necessary for commerce as is transportation. I see this infrastructure in the same light as the public highway system. Imagine what that would be if it were run by private industry. The free market is necessary to the development of a productive economy, but certain services should be socialized (another one: healthcare)
I do agree that the outgoing CallerID for Skype is a problem for professional users, however Skype can be useful as a voicemail service. I use a program called WiSPA for Skype that sends me SMS alerts and allows me to check my Skype voicemail from my cell phone. In this way, I can have seperate outgoing messages for business and personal use wihout maintaining two lines. It also has features tha allow me to route my Skype calls to other numbers or use my cell to make international calls at Skype rates.

Futurama Returns
·
· Score: 5, Informative
Guys,
I'm sorry I gave inaccurate info on the cartoon.I was told on one end that the
TV show was a go but DXC enlightened me (with a hammer) that this was
not the case.I think there is a Futurama project as in DVD's but I appearently
had bad info. But I do live to give good Futurama news to people. So I must've
died or something.
That is the most malicious thing I have ever heard.

I'm sorry, I've got it.
I hope it's sill legible with all these blood stains all over it. Please don't sue me.
You did... y'know... read the article, right? A little bit?

I think you misspelled legislators
Ok, here is the episode I was thinking of.
Happy Tree Friends
Sorry, I rmembered that episode differently. It's still funny though.
Ever watch Happy Tree Friends? Apparently, they have more respect for the laws of physics than Superman
I don't get it

I would expect that a Martian dust storm possesses the requisite erosion capabilities you mention
Firefox's antipagination extension doesn't work either.
Whatever it was, it must've been different than what I'm smoking, because I just had to enable Java

Read an almanac. SF is less than a million (about 750K), but the Bay Area has over 7M
you need to enable java for the site

You know, there are css tools in firefox that will allow you to view it that way all the time if you like.
How hot would a light saber really be?

Not so good after all
