    You're not seeing the big picture:

    26 episodes --> 13 hours --> 2 season box sets --> $80 sales

    4 movies --> 6 hours --> 4 DVDs --> $80 sales.

    Half the work for the same amount of sales. Ugh.

    Just look at that retarded Stewie movie for the Family Guy series. It costs half as much as a full season, yet contains only three episodes.

  3. Re:Misleading Headline on NASA Reaffirms Big Bang Theory · · Score: 1
    hmmm... whats missing is the fact that the Genesis account begins with the earth already existing, and with water everywhere on it. It does not begin with the creation of the universe. There is nothing in the bible to contradict what astronomers guess the age of the universe to be.

    Huh?

    Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

    The very first first of the first book in the Bible describes that the earth was created, not that it already exists. However, it should be pointed out that there's absolutely no details as to what processes were involved, or how long it took, so you're still correct on that point.

    Basically, it starts out at the point science can never go (what started the Big Bang), then leaves everything science can explain as a complete blank for the reader (kind of like a "figure the rest out for yourself" thing).

    Of course, the hints about the life arising from the earth follows with verse 2 immediately begins with the sun's light seeping throught a thick atmosphere, enabling plant life to evolves, which cleans up the atmosphere enough so that the sun, moon, and stars are visible, then aquatic life appears, then land animals, and finally, man. (well, that's one way to read it, anyway) The sad thing is, the anti-science religionists choose to understand the story in an extremely literal way that they would never apply to anything else, and the anti-religion scientists reject it because it's not written like a science textbook.

    IMO, there are advantages to having books in electronic formats, but companies are deliberately removing or restricting those very advantages. The main advantage of a book in an electronic format is to be able to copy a portion or all of a book and many times as you want and do whatever you want with it.

    "The cover story for this month's Discover magazine tells of a recently discovered gigantic virus, Mimivirus, that has blurred the lines between viruses and bacteria, and spurred speculation that viruses could be the reason life evolved past single-celled organisms." From the article: "This is striking news, especially at a moment when the basic facts of origins and evolution seem to have fallen under a shroud. In the discussions of intelligent design, one hears a yearning for an old-fashioned creation story, in which some singular, inchoate entity stepped in to give rise to complex life-forms--humans in particular. "

    Talk about a flamebait article. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive, and there is absolutely no reason to mention the latter except to stir up controversy and hatred. And with an article title like "Unintelligent Design", it's a safe bet this is what the writer was after. Good jorb, Mr. Charles Siebert of Discover.com.

    I think the main problem with this is that the roms are insanely overpriced. People want to create collections of classic games, and each game, typically, gets played fairly rarely. A modest collection of arcade roms (which, by all rights, should be in the public domain) would maybe contain a hundred or so games. I think MAME emulates over 3000 games and clones, and many go for the entire collection just for the sake of having it.

    Considering the number of roms an arcade emulation enthusiast might want, and considering the market value for these games, roms should be priced at maybe a nickel to fifty cents each. Yet StarRoms was selling them for $5 apiece! No wonder StarRoms is going out of business.
