I'm curious what they've taken out of the Business edition. I have a free legit copy on the way and thought it was basically the same as Ultimate except for MediaCenter software and Bitlocker. Two extras I'll never use.
All flash animations appear as a blank box with a play button. Only start the ones you want. I recommend adding the flashblock button to the top of your browser so you can easily whitelist pages.
I agree completely. But to add a little bit to your comment, creating a tool doesn't make you a master at using it. I might be able to make a sword but there are far better people than myself at using it.
"Due to this, a number of developers with weak passwords have been locked out of their system accounts."
Wait. How did they know the passwords are weak? You mean they actually store them as plain text instead of a hash? Sounds like there needs to be a major security overhaul.

Whew, that was a close one. I wasn't sure how we were going to get a car analogy in here about net neutrality but you seem to have pulled it off. Slashdot thanks you.
The article is a bunch of fluff. Here is the boiled down version.
1. The Microsoft Genuine Advantage tool is installed on many computers now and checks to see if your copy of Windows is legit.
2. Microsoft wants a safety switch in case this tool starts causing PCs around the world to explode. Thus the program checks with Microsoft once a day to see if it should shut itself off.
Microsoft is not spying on you. This is a safety feature that I'm glad is included. Did you know your computer also checks with them daily to update your time with the atomic clock? Where's the Slashdot story for that?
I wonder if moving the money offshore would have been more obvious. These days moving large sums of money around is monitored very closely due to terrorism concerns. Unless you know what you're doing, the government is going to be asking some questions.
Also the bitrate these songs stream at is garbage. This is dialup quality folks. You have to sign up for the paid service to get hifi. This whole story is worthless.
So... How exactly do I download the free songs? I can stream them just fine on the website but I can't figure out how to download the Napster client. Does someone have a linky?
Dear god please stop with the cut scenes. A cut scene is a crutch used when you are not creative enough to mix story with gameplay. Silent Hill is another great example of this where you do little else than kill stuff and find items to view the next non-interactive cut scene. Seems like they finally got it right and made it into a movie like they should have in the first place.
Half Life on the other hand never once in either game takes you out of your character. You are a part of every cut scene. While it seems impressive they didn't really have to change much.
Silent Hill and Half Life are two different extremes, but the game industry should try incorporating these together a bit more.
Not to mention the HUGE Google pagerank boost one would get from having a "Page design by Winner's Name" link on each and every page of Slashdot. People pay serious cash for this kind of search engine optimization. Depending on whether your site makes money or not this could be a way sweeter deal than a laptop.
The only reason Memory Stick is still around is due to Sony having such a large chunk of the consumer electronics market and it's the only format their devices typically accept. I don't think I've seen a single other company support the standard.
Since nothing interesting is going on in the comment department for this slashdot article, this is a neeto video on trusted computing I found on Youtube.
Oh my dear god are you ever right. Not one Slashdot post goes by without someone making some stupid car analogy. Isn't there something else we can use? Anything?
At some point I'm sure I would have signed up for this service. Thanks for changing my mind.

How do I polute the database with bogus information about me?
You sir, need to install FlashBlock http://flashblock.mozdev.org/

I seem to recall seeing this comment Here.

Here is a link to the Human Readable version of this story that isn't split into 49853809 pages. Thank god for the "print this page" feature.
I remember dying from laughter when commercials were proclaiming Intel processors made the internet faster. Now they could actually pull it off.
Me is confused
"Effectively, they are making a piece of space seem to disappear, at least as far as light is concerned."
And then
Prof Pendry said the technology has great potential for hiding objects from radar
So they've figured out how to bend light for optical camo. Neeto. Now how in the hell does this have anything to do with radar?

And also don't forget there is an option in your profile to block stories from certain categories from ever appearing.

That's why you don't tell them you can track it. If murders and bank robbers don't realize cell phones can be tracked I doubt a child will either.

I was just about to leave a comment saying how a number like this should exist.
Please Slashdot link to the article and not the front page KTHX. Here is the direct link for people reading this in the future. http://mobilecrunch.com/2006/03/22/paypal-goes-mob ile/
