So I'm assuming you knew all about the burakumin before reading the story, and were already sympathetic to their plight. Google helped the outside world to understand a social wrong occurring in a civilized country where it shouldn't be happening, I'm not sure how that counts as a slow news day.
I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you haven't used Windows since 98, since I'm on Vista and my uptime is nearing 2 months now. The last time I restarted was simply to allow a small driver update to complete, so it wasn't really a necessary reboot either.
I know the role of the President, and I know that Congress wields the real power in the Government, but I also know that Bush abused signing statements and executive orders to increase his influence in vast swathes. I also know that the President wields a lot more power as a figurehead than a lot of people give them credit for, and one who is good with people can have undue influence over individuals.
Besides all that, I fail to see how "democrats are dumb and don't know how the government works" is worth 5 points of insight.
The very occurrence of 9/11 was pretty much directly responsible for Bush's first economic recession, and there is substantial evidence showing that he personally ignored all advice on the attacks and in essence allowed them to happen. The current fiasco isn't necessarily his fault, but it's the President's responsibility to lead the nation and spearhead efforts to recuperate. He seems to be trying now (and it's one of the few things I respect him for), but it's far too little and too late to really make any difference.
Yeah, the guy who started a war on highly suspect grounds and ran the economy into the toilet is the exact same as the guy who hires a lawyer who is most likely highly qualified (otherwise, why would the RIAA be using him?).
Ah, it might just be that I live in Utah then. We only really have the 4 networks and 2 PBS mirrors here, plus one local station that shows reruns of Scrubs all day.
I'm surprised you get any new channels at all, I thought it was just supposed to be the local channels you were already getting. The only advantage is a better picture/sound quality, really.
"hi, im smallfeet. im a literal child. watch me put dollar signs in the names of every corporation, i.e. di$ney, mcdonald'$, and $oca-$ola. heh, well, see you next year. *puts on shades, grinds a rail*"
Not only that, but Ultima Online was out 3 years before the patent was even filed, and Everquest was out nearly a year beforehand. Weird that they thought they could get away with it with such high-profile games already on the scene.
Expressing an opinion is something entirely different from a troll, and Dick Cheney is an objective scumbag. Anyone who thinks he's an honest or caring person is verifiably wrong. If the comment said something like "Every Republican should die" then that would probably be a troll, but saying that a senior party member will continue to have a large interest in the party after his tenure is both true (for any major party, not just the Republican party) and defensible.
You really should drop your persecution complex anyway, getting mad at left-leaning people's presence on Slashdot is like getting mad at a cow's presence at a farm.
Sorry, Right-wingers, that wasn't a troll. Just because this guy said something you don't like doesn't make it any less true, or any less valid of an opinion to express.
Are you for real? I can't see or feel carbon dioxide, it must be a myth! Things don't wait for our technology to catch up to them before they start existing, just because we couldn't see bacteria until we invented microscopes doesn't mean they didn't exist before then.
I'm sure it is possible, it just depends on the perception of the dreamer. They're not actually seeing anything, but their brain thinks it does for a short time, and can still interpret that as being in color or monochrome.

Hey, here's a hint: if you use the word "sheeple" you're a huge tool. Hope that helps.
Sure, but easily half our economy is based on intangible assets.
Well, for one, Google doesn't run its own tracker.
My way of thinking IS tolerance. If someone is intolerant, I don't tolerate them. Simple as that.
Yeah, exactly. And besides that, most of the updates rolled out are Defender updates, which don't require or even request a restart.

Wide, thin, and wide again, ad nauseam. That's pretty horrible on a person's body, she has to have cut 10 years off her lifespan by now.
I should also add that I'm not exactly happy with this decision, but come on. This is nowhere near a Bush-class error.

Fig. 5: penguins.

...What's to stop anybody from just un-syncing their phone?
You've really never heard the word "authored" before? It's not that uncommon.

... as Congress pulls an emergency session out of its ass after a few of its key members find themselves with large campaign contributions.
You're exactly right. I know it's a very Slashdot thing to submit sensationalistic and overreactive articles, but this one's a new low.
