Paypal is another of the companies using non-generic domains. If it was "money.com" or something, you'd have a point, but it's a catchy moniker instead.
I appreciate your optimism, but I don't think the people being hired for this are really in any position to make demands about how the industry carries out their business. If you tried you'd probably be let go.
I totally agree, and it's exactly why I think everyone who was freaking out about Google being "evil" for censoring in China was overreacting. If they leave the country they can't help anybody, but if they stay there they can help shift the balance toward openness, which was pretty obviously what they were doing.
That sounds more like your problem than anyone else's. Just because you're an apathetic asshole doesn't mean people can't talk about themselves, if you don't care then don't read their profiles.
Just because a company uses a situation to make money means it doesn't exist? I guess all those flag-makers taking advantage of 9/11 must mean the Trade Center is still standing.
Virtually no consumer software is without bugs. You try programming something that large-scale that works flawlessly, especially with the oversight of a team leader, a division manager, etc. In fact, due to all that bureaucracy, large corporations are in some ways more vulnerable to bugs than smaller teams.
Like the fact that they constantly run unfunny memes into the ground because none of them have a shred of originality, or that they think child porn is funny? Is that criticism enough?
I'm assuming you haven't used Windows since 98, because my Vista box gets regular heavy usage and has been on for close to 2 months now. I really only have to restart it when I do major updates or on the off chance that some third-party program crashes it.
A lot of homeschooling families are trying to instill exactly that indoctrination into their children, especially the religious fanatics (like this family in particular).
I don't really know what you're saying or how it relates to the story, but good job being overcoming your schizophrenia enough to able to click "submit"!
I know, whenever I have to use my girlfriend's laptop, which is a Lenovo, it takes me forever to get used to her keyboard. They slightly shifted even the letter keys around so they don't line up the way they should on a regular keyboard, and the function key is where the control key should be. I wish they'd quit making me waste time in the process of trying to save me time.
Naming your company after a common object is hardly stealing, I don't know where you would even have gotten that idea. You're not an Apple Records attorney, are you?
"10 second diagnosis"? That sounds exactly like what the comment I replied to was doing! "All women are lying bitches who get fat as soon as the wedding's over." Good job defending a bigot, though.
The free market isn't really providing a solution. There are a whole lot of people out there still using dial-up, since it isn't "cost-effective" to put add lines in their area. That's fine for a company, but the government is realizing that internet access is becoming a "necessary" utility just as power and water are, and trying to make sure that people have at least some rudimentary usable connection. I don't think the plan is to offer everybody a connection, simply those that don't have them already.
I like all the hostile replies you got from idiots who apparently are content to wantonly throw away money on whatever comes their way. People like us may be cheap, but at least we come out ahead!
Freedom of speech, at least in the US, only applies to Government censorship. You can still sue people in civil court for saying things you don't like.
Just because the employees are there to serve you doesn't mean you should bitch at them to do something beyond their power. Nobody is going to put their job on the line for your insane privacy needs.

Let me guess, you're one of the people the article is talking about.
The donor only donated the frame upon which the cells grew, they were still the child's own cells.

That, or articles written by people with the most hours logged writing fanfiction about the subject.

They could mean it's curious that Joe Lieberman is doing something that isn't a waste of time.
The music was also horribly downsampled, it actually sounded better on the PS2 for some reason.

I guess I shouldn't expect any different from Slashdot, but congratulations! You're a sexist!

Hey, at least they're helping their constituents rather than finding excuses to take away their rights.
I think smart meters go by the grid's current usage, rather than typical usage timespans.
