    I don't know about the Europeans not doing this. I got picked to have a special screening in Amsterdam where the officer joked that I had, "won the free massage". Then put rubber gloves on and reached inside of my pants in the front and the back. He didn't cup my nuts, but he did put his hand inside the waistband.

    Even if a person were crazy enough to think it was alright to secretly spy on people and then start some sort of punitive process I can't imagine someone taking screenshots really provides any real chain of custody/evidence to keep it admissible.

    Hmmm, let me bust out photoshop or the Gimp, next thing you know your screwing a goat on your desk.

    Real video surveillance systems have to have measures to make sure the evidence has not been tampered with.

    Not capital gains, but you pay yourself less than you take in, anticipating down time. Then if you have money left over at the end of the quarter you pay yourself dividend income from the corporation. You still pay income tax on that, but you don't pay social security/medicare/medicaid. Which if you are doing employer matching saves you ~15%.

    It's a fine line to walk though because you don't want to trigger an audit if you don't end up having any bench time.

    It's an little bit of a catch-22. They almost have to reserve the right to be arbitrary in their searches for a couple of reasons.

    1. Throwing randomness into the mix makes it harder for a would be bad dude to figure out what triggers a search. So, you have to make random searches allowed.

    2. Throwing arbitrary searches in also helps to make it look look like you are not "racially profiling"

    3. If you had a bad night with the significant other you can wake up this morning knowing you can take it out on whoever reminds you of him/her!

    The dealer wouldn't believe me as it was intermittent. When it did happen I had to slam on the break and turn off the ignition, and then everything would be fine.

    I finally talked the dealers mechanic into taking my car and using it. After 3 days I get a call where he finally experienced the problem.

    Turns out it was something strange with the cruise control, even with it turned off at the steering wheel it would still engage and not stop accelerating.

    Let's just say that when your driving on a downtown street and your car decides to floor it, you end up in situations where you really wish you were wearing a diaper.

    I feel sorry for the Toyota owners going through this. Specially because I know how skeptical the dealers can be.

    I wondered this too. I run my own mail server. But, I guess you could make the argument that they could intercept it in transit because it is on the ISP's system at that time.

    I think the notion is that if you have committed 3 crimes of a certain level, Felonies for example, you are likely to just be an habitual criminal and be locked up permanently for the good of society.

    Not saying it's right or wrong, just explaining were the idea came from.

    Just like cover art can sell a book, even though you need to read the book to know if you like it, the graphics can sell a game.

    You might have to play a game for 2 weeks to know if it really is a great game, but awesome graphics can push you into making that impulse buy so that you will find out.

    If a book has great cover art you're more likely to buy it. You won't know that it's good until you read it, but the cover art has gotten you to make the purchase.

    With a game that is involved it might take you a week to find out if the gameplay is great or not, but you can look at great graphics and be swayed into making an impulse buy.

    I agree with you 100%, "People with proper psychological functioning can easily compartmentalize fantasy from reality"!!!

    Maybe I'm jaded, but unfortunately "People with proper psychological functioning" seem to be getting more and more scarce!

    I think the issue is that when you are a police officer you have a special role and should not joke about it online. It's just different. If I joke about doing my job, it's not the same as a cop joking about doing his.

    I guess I said the Dems because I had higher hopes in voting for them only to have 3 nominees have issues, Geithner, Killefer, and Daschle. Also, I was excited about Obama's rules against lobbyists in the administration only to have them be waived for William Lynn.

    So, I guess I didn't start out as prejudiced since they are the party who got my vote. But, some of the events of the last few months have made me a little prejudiced. Look at the bright side though, I'm still a more prejudiced against the Repubs right now.

    It's always a better of two evils choice isn't it?

    I've gotten so cynical in my old age that I just expect this now, it doesn't even disappoint anymore, we've got the best government money can buy!!!

    I voted for the Dem's this time around, but they're just as bad. Lying on their taxes, getting free drivers/limos, getting million $$ speaking deals as payoffs, and then getting their payoff from special interests to vote against the public good. They just get their payoffs from different groups.

    I don't think he/she ever claimed to be an aeronautical engineer.

    He simply pointed out that a big part of getting people into a vehicle was marketing and their perception of the safety, and in a for profit venture I would hope that they are taking marketability into account as well( even though technically it's meaningless )

    Not in Minnesota.

    Rent has not increased in years. Actually now that housing starts are down rent is slowly starting to creep up.

    Sorry, but that's why I don't live in NY or LA or any of a million places that have a ridiculous cost of living.

    But, continuing to stay in those places and trying to swing buying a house there you help to drive up demand and keep the price high.
