Um, me. I just happen to be a young white male living in Minnesota with a yellow Nissan 280 ZX(complete with spoiler and custom paint-job).

I've been pulled over twice in the 2 years I've owned this vehicle. I only fought one, since I was at fault for the other, and I won.

Of course, there are unfair cops out there, as well as unfair judges, which will, unfortunately, always be the case.

Seriously, wrong or unfair, they are still laws. Breaking them isn't going to change them. You're doing nothing but emptying your wallet.

Take a stand, if you must, but at least try and be intelligent about it. Giving them more funds isn't going to stop it. Petitioning your local governemt, getting like-minded individuals to do the same, showing up at local community meetings, etc., will go much farther than handing them cash.

Try and stop you? Hell no, you're supporting the fine men and women who serve in our Police departments nationwide. I personally thank you for being such an ass. Hell, drive however you want, without a license or insurance, even. Long as you're willing to pay their salaries, which you seem to be, I'm all for it.

    What an ass.

The law is inconvienient for me, so I'll just ignore it...and even get all righteous about it. Seems to be the battle-cry for Morons everywhere nowadays.

So you got a Mustang, big friggin deal. If you're getting pulled over more often, perhaps you should consider doing the friggin' speed-limit, or abiding the rules of the road. If you're not doing anything that violates the law, then you can fight it, and win, in court. Crying 'Pity me...' solves nothing and being self-righteous about it does even less.

    >FYI, Intel's compilers do NOT support AMD's processors.

But they *do* support x86. And, even when compiled with the same command line should *not* break when run on an AMD system.

    >Financial kickbacks (to h/w makers, presumably) just lower cost of Intel processors.

And force exclusivity agreements on the vendors ensuring AMD cannot compete on the same level.

    >Another way to look at it - Intel's behavior makes AMD have to really lower their prices in order to get people to sell their stuff, which is great for the customers.

Thus making them uncompetitive due to lack of funds for R&D because of low/non-existant profit-margins.

    >In any case, several independent analysts have predicted AMD's lawsuit is most likely without merit.

Yet Japan found them in violation of their anti-trust rules. I guess the analysts cannot always be right,. eh?

The EU is looking for evidence due to the Japanese investigation and the finding that Intel was in violation. They are now able to get a hold of all the documents from that ruling and it also gives them more effective reasoning for conducting the 'raids' mentioned above. They now feel they have a stronger case.

The EU has been going after monopolies like a rabid dog lately with MS. It makes perfect sense they'd target Intel now that the MS thing has basically been resolved.

Er... How about anyone who wants to buy an AMD system from a decent PC manufacturer? All of whom are currently avoiding AMD like the plague due to Intel's tactics.

Dell boxes, for instance, may have their issues, but for the most-part, they are incredibly stable, reliable beasts. I'd love one. But I will not buy a system with an Intel Processor, so I, along with countless others, ain't getting a Dell.

Dell has hinted at their desire to use AMD many times, but is unable to, their options being severely limited by Intel. They can continue to be an Intel Only shop to remain competitive and retain discounts, or they can add AMD to their lineup, effectively killing their Intel line which would then no longer be competitive. Thus becoming an AMD Only shop which would also kill them, due to the fact that most average PC buyers will balk at anyhting not "Intel".

Apple would have been a drop in thte bucket to AMD, but Apple needs chipsets as well, which is *one* of the reasons they chose Intel. Do some actual research before spewing FUD, okay?
