We've got those machines here in Texas, too. My wife and I use 'em all the time. $1 a day per movie, and they typically have a pretty good selection. The machine looks a lot like a vending machine, except its got a touch screen. They're pretty cool, and the best part is they're EVERYWHERE. Grocery stores, Wal-Marts, shopping malls, etc...
An example of this would be in Super Dimensional Fortress: Macross. Instead of wasting energy to have a field that enveloped the ship, they devised a roving "point defense shield", made up of three controllable discs of energy. It was pretty cool. Looked like three spolights playing over the surface of the SDF. Just a geek FYI.
+1. In my town (not really small, but not a metropolis), most of the mom and pop stores flat out suck. They charge outrageous prices, don't know a thing about any product newer than 1994, and rarely HAVE anything newer than 1995 (when they stopped buying inventory). This applies to dern near every type of store, be it hobby shops, computer stores, gun shops, hardware stores, electronics, what have you. But having said that, they're ALL STILL IN BUSINESS, and we have 3 Walmarts, 2 Home Depots, and 2 (barf) Best Buys.
Here, here! I get sooo tired of people complaining about the Patriot Act and the civil liberties it might theoretically abuse, but few speak out (except on/.) about the bill that ACTUALLY takes away a key civil liberty, the stupid McCain reform.
So, was your teacher's goal was to ban any successful solution? Way to stifle creativity, teach. What was his reason for banning those solutions? Especially the pepsi can one (btw, GREAT idea).
Yeah, I noticed that too. I'd already plyed through the game and then one day caught a commercial for it. I figured it'd be either pre-rendered or tweaked in some way, but I didn't expect it to be COMPLETELY outside the game experience. The events depicted in the ad didn't occur in game in any way. I litterally had a "WTF?! Did I miss a mission?" moment.
Depends on denomination, but most believe in the Trinity, in one form or another. Some do not, however. It's one of the things that Protestants and Catholics can (broadly) agree on.
Try again, asshat. I ASSUME you're referring to David Koresh, but your argument fails on two main points. 1) He was no Christian (even though he thought he was Christ, there's a difference between being a Christian and being insane, regardless of what YOU believe). and 2), it did not happen in Waco, in happened in Axtel, nearly 30 miles away. Thanks for playing.
Wow, I'd never thought of it that way. I guess it WOULD be an act of war. Do you think the Israelis will look at it that way? Personally, I hope they do, and the IDF rolls though "Palestine" and puts an end to all this. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
To sum up, by law my AK-103 IS a single shot rifle. I merely have the capacity for several follow up shots without reloading (useful for hunting, range practice, etc...). And saying the "assault weapons are military grade armaments" is not really saying much. A lot of civilian type weapons are MUCH nicer and more powerful than military weapons. Also, I'm not sure I follow you blanket statement on handguns. I have a few, and they are not concealed, and certainly weren't cheap (well, not all of them, anyway). What threat to your freedoms does my having a gun pose? What about my freedom to own a gun? As the saying goes, "An armed society is a polite society."
Oh, and one least statement (this is not intended as a troll, merely to prove a point): Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns. Just something to think about. I'll be happy to discuss the AWB and gun ownership more, if you'd like.
You clearly do not understand the AWB. You can't own a fully-automatic, select fire weapon with or without the ban (well, you can, but it requires a $200 tax to be paid). For example, I own several rifles, one of which is an AK-103. It is semi-auto only (one round released per trigger pull) by law. I cannot legally make it full-auto or burst. The only thing that makes it an assault rifle now is that it LOOKS like one. The BATF has made a list of "evil" features (sec. 922r) that a gun can't have, or it will be considered an assault weapon. For instance: pistol grip, bayonet lug, flash hider, hi-capacity magazine, etc... It IS legal to own a rifle with any/all of these parts, there's just certain hoops you have to jump through. Now, I also own an SKS rifle, which is not in any way, shape or form an assualt rifle. The ONLY thing the SKS has is a bayonet lug (and mine doesn't even have that). But for some reason, if I added a pistol grip or muzzle brake, it would be an assault weapon, and subject to 922r laws. So would any semi automatic hunting rifle. See the problem?
In the Euro version of the game "Fahrenheit" (Indigo Prophecy) there were two pretty decent sex scenes. The first would only happen if you played your cards right, and was interactive (sort of). The second one was a major part of the story, and was surprisingly well done. More like a movie. They both advanced the story to a point, and did not seem overly gratuitous.
Not according to the German tax laws. That's the whole point. You pay taxes on revenues in the US, but apparently in Germany, it's on profits. It's very similar to the "The Producers."
That's a good point. There is a delicate relationship between funny and mean-spirited. This show could be very funny, but in order to avoid being mean-spirited (or just downright abusive), there needs to be some hope for the "winners." This will be very interesting to watch...

Damn, wish I had mod points. Excellent job of pointing out the "euro-hypocrisy" of all of this. Kudos.

Truly you have a dizzying intellect.
Apparently, I left my brain stem at home today. It helps to read the entire article. Nevermind.
So if a researcher doesn't worship at the altar of Darwin, he is denied useful funding? Doesn't that come across as hypocritical?
I could have sworn I bought a jar of Vlasic pickels on Monday (the Spicy ones, mmmmmmm). Maybe I should check the fridge...

Honda lawn mowers. I've got an 11 year old one and my dad's go a 17 year old one. Very nice machines (of course, they ARE Honda engines...)

Just have to say, "Damn skippy." Well said.
Bravo, sir. If I had points I'd mod you way up.

Ahhh, the fire ant. Satan's minion on earth.

The fact they're NOT acting makes me weep at night...
