    I knew about the metre, I knew about the rod. I just think it's stupid to try and make a silicon sphere, when you can just say (as you stated in your reply) that 1 kilogram is X silicium atoms. BTW, if scientists don't like definitions based on objects then I'll guess it does make quite a lot sense to define a kilogram with a silicon sphere...

    ... no sphere made of atoms will ever be a perfect one.
    Second, if that rusty lump in Paris defines what a kilogram is, in no way is this sphere gonna change that.

    Well, with all our free market and globalization and capitalism, I think it's way more efficient to get rid of all of the middlemen. If we take Lawmakers and Judges from the "Companies -> Lawmakers -> Judges -> Police" chain, well, it's kinda the same but faster...

    Neither of using TorrentSpy or Bittorrent nor downloading copyrighted material for private use is illegal in Spain. Sharing it is also legal. If it's not for public viewing and there's no profitting involved, the law (still) says it's alright.

    Over Stallman's grave, I think. It just doesn't seem reasonable to me for Novell, Xandros et al to continue supporting an alternative fork of the whole GNU system from its last GPLv2 release. At all.

    Imagine for a moment that this guy has invented something new. Imagine, as the last line of the summary suggests, that "If they know that they could fix the problems later on, they could beat the competition to market."

    Sounds like the hardware version of Windows. Every user would be a beta tester. Your phone calls your friends in the middle of the night and makes strange noises? It's ok, we'll fix it soon. Meanwhile remember we were the first to offer scheduled calls for cell phones!
