  2. Re:Java Programmers Rejoice on HP Developing Hybrid Tablet PC / Coffee Table · · Score: 3, Funny

Man... this would be awesome! I'd never have to clean my coffee table again! I'd just let garbage collection take care of it.

  4. Avatars on Yahoo! Bans "Allah" in Screen Names · · Score: 1

(I have to admit, I dont use yahoo for anything, really... This is assuming things like yahoo messenger etc, allow for avatars). I guess you'll just have to use offensive cartoons instead... even though according to that list, the name mohammad is allowed. Man... isn't that like the most popular name in the world? They should ban that too :)

  6. Horsepower needed on Build a Homemade Media Center PC · · Score: 0

If you're just looking for a PVR, ya, you really dont need all _that_ much...

Are you looking to upscale dvd's or playback h264 files, you'll need at least a 3200+ (or maybe a bit less if you only want the h264 playback). There's also sound cards for encoding to dolby digital 5.1 and such, for example, if you're hooking into a receiver and are looking for more than SPDIF playback from DVDs (such as playing games...)

  9. Nothing new on Newswire Misreports Gamer's Suicide · · Score: 0

The media makes up crap all the time to spice stories up when they just aren't intesting enough/slow news day/whatever...

For example, a buddy of mine had his bedroom go up in flames. They reported the fire on the news, where "One man was taken to the hospital to be treated for 3rd degree burns". Yes, he did get taken to the hospital. They put a band-aid on his finger.

Can I see a raise of hands who believes everything they see in the news? Didn't think so.

  10. Tell them not to throw out words just cuz... on What Should People Understand About Computers? · · Score: 0

I think what you really need to tell people is not to assume things. Its been mentioned memory!=disk space and cpu!=the whole system...

Tell them to take a deep breath, and admit they do not understand this stuff. When asking for help, ask "I need more space for music, what can I do?" and not "If I upgrade my memory, can I store more music?"

  11. Waiting to get on the car... on Smart Elevators Coming to Seattle · · Score: 0, Redundant

Riders may wait slightly longer for the proper car, but the overall ride is shortened because the car stops less.

Hmmmm, everyone I've ever heard complain about elevators (myself included), its the standing around waiting for the car to arrive, not how many stops it makes...

    Keep tryin'!
