Sometimes we, as a society, have seen fit to let their creator exercise some limited degree of control over them. You seem to have missed that part of his post.
While it may make internet users in China more skillful at getting around website blocks, it's not exactly a good thing that you need that skill in the first place. By creating the Great Firewall, they are blocking all inexperienced internet users from accessing this damning information. I assume in China that the vast majority of people are inexperienced internet users (same in the States too.:/). They are controlling the flow of this information to control the actions of their people, and it's causing more harm to Human Rights than it is helping computer literate Chinese to become inventive. You seem to have twisted this horrible violation of the freedom of peoples into a good thing by saying "at least some people know how to get around a firewall now!". Not exactly comparable subjects.
From what I know, Bush Sr. resisted raising taxes until Congress MADE him. Congress is what really gets things done. Too much focus is on the president these days.
Lots of people have moved from finding music from the radio to looking at recommendations, or similar artists using iTunes. I personally find new music by just looking through the genres I like in the eMusic catalog.
As more people move away from the radio and go to looking at online recommendations, it's going to be easier to find independent artists.
By that text, the could just send out a flier, put up a link to emusic.com, and "attempt" (or actually attempt) to block Limewire ports/traffic.
Sounds reasonable to me.
It's crappy quality if you have a slower internet connection (they change the movie quality based on your download speed) and have it going out to a large TV. For Joe Computer, the quality is great and it's an extra perk of their subscription.
I recently watched Season 1 of Heroes on the download service and it was great. Great quality, great sound, and I didn't have to wait days for the new discs to arrive.
It's not a problem of authenticity, because the prop was an authentic Star Trek prop. The problem is they made more than of of said prop. One was worn by the actor and, it seems, was kept and later sold by said actor. In the Christie's auction it seems that it was noted (however late) that the prop in question was not one worn by the actor, but was indeed an authentic prop.
The only local, privately run stores in America anymore seem to be sandwich shops. The sandwiches that you can get at a privately owned sub place are of a much higher quality than what you can find at Subway or Quiznos, at a (fairly) competitive price. Maybe other Mom & Pop should take note?
Well, from what I know what happens, the Prosecution gives a sentencing offer and the defendant will agree to plead guilty in order to accept the sentence. Either that or I watched too much Law and Order.
Well, if he's admitting guilt, then he probably does not believe a reasonable jury will find him not-guilty. Maybe if it was a smaller sentence, but 60 years? There's no way he wouldn't fight that if he even had a chance of winning.
Rail is all fine and dandy, but have you seen how large the US is? Going from NY to California by train would take much longer than flying that same distance. That's one of the main reasons why the US doesn't have primarily rail transport, as opposed to Europe, which is fairly dense and places are much closer together.
This is MUCH worse than it is in the US. While there are questionable laws and such, look at Britain and Germany. Britain has cameras on every street corner and Germany has ridiculously restrictive "cyber"-laws.
Its a "big deal" because as the CEO of his company he is supposed to show complete faith in the company and do everything to ensure it's success and make it better than the competition. By using a competitor in hos own home, he's showing that he thinks his service is inferior to the competitors service. If the CEO of the company thinks his product sucks, what is everyone else supposed to think?
As stated earlier in the thread, the 18+ would only replace the AO as the taboo rating. What we need to do is keep the AO rating, while adding the 18+ rating so that we can have an "in between" porn and regular game. Same thing with the MPAA. They need to make a R18 rating (Comes off as right up next to the regular "acceptable" ratings, since there's no special title) and keep NC-17. NC-17 should be the Porn rating, and all the rest should get R-18.
But, you never know how people will react, so both of these solutions may do nothing.
"only" a year or

Why not just make the Windows patches run in a native Bit Torrent client and be done with it?

Mass Effect.
Microsoft wins? >_>

Except for the part where they give their consent. (Informed that only dirty hippies use OSX).

It could be that the enormous demand is making mass production more profitable, and also leading to cheaper manufacture methods.
Ah, I see what you're saying. Just to clarify:
Under patent law, With stoves, you can't build an identical stove, but you can still build a different stove that does the same thing
With software patents, you can't build identical code, but then you can't even use different code for the same thing.
It's all the science of economics, and how different people will pay different amounts for the same thing.

Not only that, but when was the last time you paid $108,000 for a 12 song CD?
The problem is, it's fun to about level 30, maybe less, then it poops out and becomes a chore. It's just not fun anymore.

The difference is that many, many, many more people believe in their religions than believe your cat can fly. And they have money and voting power.
The point is you're not supposed to crank your speakers up at the quiet part. It's quiet for a reason.
