"Would immigrant workers trade their privacy for the opportunity to work in the U.S.?" Yes, they would trade just about anything to get in the US, if they are willing to risk death in the Arizona desert. Hundreds of illegal immigrants die each year of dehydration, would they be willing to lose a little privacy for the chance to work in America?
Yes.
I too, recently graduated and began working an internship, only I am allowed to blog about it and do. http://www.ravenengineering.net/blog/intern/rmetca lf/ I imagine working for the county gov't is significantly different than working for a mega corp. My friends that intern at Honeywell, can't discuss pretty much anything because its all trade secrets that Honeywell is afraid Garmin will steal.
Cut his internet and/or sneak onto his router and block the ports used by WoW, about anything to hamper his playing WoW so he rediscovers the other things of life, including having a life (WoW not included). I know quite a few people that are caught between addiction and regular play.
It would be great to get a job at Bungie....
although once they finish the development of Halo 2 for PC or whatever job they may have, are you still guarnteed a job, or is this more a temp gig?
What if PC's were able to make the use of multiple monitors, like Nintendo DS does? I'd love for an extra screen to keep mini-map, server rank, ammo counts, etc on an always displayed screen. No more bringing it up on your main screen
America Spells Bullshit, B.U.L.L. S.H.I.T. come on ANY deivce that turns analog video into a digital signal. That includes the Pinacle and Hauppage video input deives, as in the ones poeple use to take THEIR home movies and make them into files on their computer. Just because Hollywood movies can be done the same, doesn't mean every device should be illegal. Christ Sakes. Just because a car is mechanically capable of going past the speed limit, does it mean we make its manufacture illegal? MPAA, leave video capture devices alone. It's not the creation of pirated materials thats the problem its the distrobution. Just because you make it hard to copy, means fewer people are going to figure it out, that doesn't effect the real problem, because now those few people are using networks to spread the "contraband." So now, its still to everyone it just propigated a different way!
**This is something the MPAA needs to leave well enough alone, home video capture devices. OMG!**

1.33 gHz, now thats a powerful machine, LOL, got 128 MB of RAM too?!?
Really though, too often those digital shredding tools aren't enough, through powerful counter-tools, its been proven time after time that the data can be reversed (unless of course new data has been written in that sector). At my office they had a security audit (I work for the gov't) and found that none of our tools we were currently using to cleancomputers before sale as surplus were effective enough, so we had to buy some new one, that was party written by DoD members or something.
Another way the federal government is trying to over control things/ogranizations that are international. Sure the government helped create the modern day internet (without the help of Al Gore) but if the U.S. government did'nt want to relinquish control they should have made it U.S. only and then leased the idea model to an organization/group willing to make an interntional version. I'd be worried and peeved if I were the EU too.
If someone is lazy/uneducated/doesn't ask for help in protecting their network, it should be as it has been. Open Game. There were previous unrelated rulings across the country that say an unlocked network is an open network. If the owner of the network doesn't even read the manual or just know what they're doing, don't they deserve it? If they(owners of network) had read the manual, even if they didn't know how to secure it themselves, they could have asked someone.
It's not a crime to steal the open.
Heard of Cedega? It's a windows emulator for linux, based off of WINE, Cedega has been specialy adapted for gaming, up to date to work with even with Half-Life 2 I being a High School student have heard of it and promise you that Linux in NO WAY would be the limiting factor on games.

There should be no limits to the US governance of the internet, because after all, it is just an extension of ARPAnet

Well for one thing: http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/ 11/1756259&tid=222
use mineral oil cooling as outlined in a previous slashdot article.
but since the hard drive has to remain above oil level (submerged=quiet) you could use flash media instead....or build a sealed box for your HD and submerge it
CF to IDE
http://mach5products.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Sc reen=PROD&Product_Code=CFTOIDEALONE&Category_Code= CF
compact flash instead of HD=no movement=QUIET!
