    I can clearly see that you've never used Opera Mini. I've used Opera Mini to read and post on Slashdot. It works just fine.

    In my experience using both, Mini did not work with Slashdot while Mobile did. Furthermore, the article has over a whole paragraph regarding Mobile versus Mini, so I wonder if YOU can't read?

    Correlation is not causation. I wouldn't be surprised if when you adjust out for socio-economic factors, public school students perform better than home-schooled students. Those living in poverty cannot afford to not be at work and cannot homeschool their children. So the children who are homeschooled are disproportionately middle and upper class.

    Agreed! I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile for this reason and eventually my entire family followed me and now many friends are following too. Customer service has been top notch for the 6 or 7 years I've had them in the United States.

    That sucks that your experience was that poor. I've never gotten a DVD that was unplayable or skipped in any way. If I send out a DVD on Monday, they get it Tuesday and I get my next one Wednesday. I can then watch it and ship it out Thursday, and have the new one on Saturday. Since I have the 4-at-a-time plan, this is basically unlimited movies. Plus I can always boot into XP and stream movies too which works great. Wonder why the difference in experiences.

    They also won't stream onto a Mac. My ex was pretty pissed when I touted the greatness of their streaming and then she found out, after signing up and paying, that she couldn't stream.

    Except after the uproar, they decided to keep profiles. I'm thankful it caused such an uproar because my brother and I didn't know about profiles and were paying for two 3-at-a-time Netflix accounts to the same address. Now we've combined them into one 4-at-a-time account with two queues of two movies each. Very happy with the results. And we're saving tons of money.

    Or are these people just Luddites who mourned the demise of the telegraph and have also never used a telephone?
    Have you considered that perhaps this group of people is largely poor, homeless, illiterate, and concerned more about where their next meal is going to come from than whether or not you think they're backwards for not being able to afford a computer, internet access, or the time needed to learn to read as an adult?

    I used to send 3500+ messages a month. I don't understand how texting is "intolerably rude behavior" compared to people talking on their cell phones in all manner of public places?

    On top of which, with texts you can A. get straight to the point rather than wasting air waiting for the person on the phone to come around to what they're actually calling you about and B. reply when it's convenient for you, whether that is immediately or in 5 or 30 minutes. I find everything about texting to be superior to phone calls.

    I have the same deal with T-mobile for up to 5 people for $10/month. I use it across 4 phones currently.

    SMS has certainly gone down in price in the US. Since I've had cell phones it's gone from $0.25/message or something like $20 for a few hundred a month to now I get unlimited across 4 phones for $10/month.

    I pay $10/month for unlimited messaging across 4 different phones/phone numbers and have for years now. I don't feel the 'squeeze'. I'd much rather text message somebody than talk on the phone anyways.
