Many new motherboards have 5 pci slots with the same layout that the 6 pci version would have and the first slot is removed. Just for this kind of graphics cards.
It's definately a must have for my mobo in the future.
Before this is possible we need some kind of payment-negotiation protocol.
I am certainly not going to pay for megabytes of spam that I get per week.
This could also solve bandwidth problems for popular sites. The downloaders would pay for the bandwidth both ways.
But until this is possible, flat-rate needs to stay. Maybe they just need to limit the speeds. I'd be perfectly happy with 256/256k or even 128/128k as long as I had low latency and were always-on.
It may not be acceptable for gfx card manufacturer to release full specs for their hardware immediately after hardware.
But there is no reason to hide specs for hardware older than 6mo or a year.
(Currently running radeon 9000, because of it's open source dri drivers. I'm buying r9500 or higher as soon as there are open drivers for it).
I've nvidia too, but if they don't start releasing some of their hardware specs, I'm not buying their stuff again. I won't even mention the closed drivers for their motherboard here.

Is there one with a header.
I find that after a few hours of quakeing my hands are very cold (especially the mouse hand).
I played a lot of Q3 over a 56K modem when it came out.
It's quite playable with a few caveats: 1. find a server as few hops away as possible with as consistent lag/ping as you can find. 2. optimize FPS above all else 3. space levels will be hard due to LPB with the rail.
My favorite mod was DM instagib (just not Q3DM17) and using the gauntlet;)
You mean, like, .NET? Right? ... 20 seconds.

Electric F1 car... no thank you.
:(
The only reason I'd go to an F1 race would be to hear the sound.
Maybe this is a good use for that 150dB car stereo. Too bad it would drain the batteries too much

Until you learn the Ctrl+W OK reflex and it bites you someday.
Is there a checklist of missing functionality that needs to be ported from mozilla to firebird?
Well, emacs is well known for having a better newsreader than the text editor.
Karma whores, a bunch of
Well, what do you use for foo.h anc foo.c files?
fooSource and fooHeader?
Hardly an improvement, I'd say.

eeek! Somebody still can't spell.
In 2 words: I agree.

People, just buy an mini-itx system. It's much more open, hackable and flexible.
> metric>standard conversion problem.
what conversion? metric is standard.
You probably mean the conversion between metric and obsolete.
This is is actually the way they should be doing things.
Maybe provide "half-supported" binary only drivers for their brand new chipsets.
But for long term I strongly perfer open source drivers (dri.sourceforge.net).
(a radeon user because of open source drivers)

I was really dissapointed 2 seconds later :( when I realized:
1. Half life 2 is not out yet.
2. Half life 2 is not out for linux (yet, if they hope me to buy it).
>The paradigm of the overlapping windowing system has been a failure.
Probably true.
But MDI, tabs, multiple desktops, transparent menus and menu bars only make things worse.

One of the F1 teams hacked their engine control system to play music using the engine sound.
The only link I can find right now:

Anyone who used OS/2 would know these two and many others.
It's a way to prevent slashdotting, I imagine.
>JIT compilation, also called "dynamic compilation" has proven to be faster than normal (or static) compilation in an increasing number of cases.
I hope they included the startup time for that test.
When it's true for helloworld.java, I'll believe it.
(be sure to compare the memory footprint too, because that's the major performance killer).

I've wondered how this works. Because without reliable isolation of one process from another, the thing is useless for me.
One thing I would like to see is reduction in functionality duplication in distributions.
There is no need to have 2,3 or more implementations of the same thing in a distribution.
I am not saying all should be done at once (GNOME vs KDE), but this should be a goal.
I'd like to see 1CD linux distributions again.
I never used a Mac, but this guy is describing everything (and more) that made OS/2 WPS by far the best GUI for me.
GNOME and KDE developers would do well to look at this article (and OS/2 too).
