Hell, the Mac still is stuck with it's one menu windowing environment that hearkens back to the days of only being able to have one active application at a time. Pathetic!
Hell, Apple only gave us fullscreen support in Quicktime for free last week. And it took them how many years to ship with two buttoned mice?
So the format does exactly what it should: it makes it abundantly clear what's contained within, in a way that can *trivially* be parsed out with any compliant XML library
What's the point of this? I'm sort of taking a liberty in paraphrasing your argument, but it seems to come down to the claim that an open XML format that is human readable is somehow better because
XML, for all of its efficiency faults, can be extremely clear even to the human eye, especially when coupled with a good schema definition.
The only thing that XML has over a binary format is "clearness to the human eye". If you have a binary structure that has a sense of hierarchy and each node can contain content and properties then you've got the same thing, except faster and more efficient. The only "problem" is that it's proprietary, but not horribly so. The file format has been reverse engineered by OpenOffice and it's available for the world to see: http://sc.openoffice.org/compdocfileformat.pdf
"to power 10,000 homes... the plant will cover 365 hectares"
It appears the footprint per house of the solar panels is actually less than the footprint of a house by itself. Surely it should be mandatory/make sense for compulsary solar panelling on houses?
Even if you underclocked this thing you'd have enough performance to load two copies of Half Life 2 at once and still have enough memory left over to play Solitaire!
Why don't we use what we've got already? If you want a box with curves you buy a box with curves. If you want a box that's going to sit there and look like you're not a gamer by profession then you can buy a normal box.
I've never had a case of a WGA false positive, and I've only heard of one through the grapevine. I don't doubt the modus operandi of this article and I believe that the 42% is valid, but one must rememeber that it's not 42% of PC's being dubbed non-genuine, it's 42% of all PCs that WGA thinks aren't genuine, which is (relatively) small, probably something less than 0.01% of all Windows PCs.
Great! Now I don't have to worry about the huge threat cookies have to my machine (approximately 0%), and can inconvenience myself by having to type in my password every time I want to post as me on Slashdot or any other internet community. I also don't have to worry about finding that Google search I made a few days ago that had the exact wording that yielded some pretty useful results, because I don't have history! Thank you "auto-privacy"!
Then again, in IE7 I can just go Tools -> Delete Browsing History and have it clear itself out when I actually do need to get rid of something and not everything. But that's insecure, right?
I'd like to see this on a Take Two/Rockstar press release:
A warning for those of you lazy self absorbed and/or just plain inattentive parents: All the censorship in the world won't make up for bad parenting if your child is more influenced by our games than by Mommy & Daddy, both you and your offspring have much bigger problems than the gameplay. So before you go hauling us or any other studio into court, look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you did the best you could, because if you're considering taking us to court, you didn't.
Just as a FYI, with a fully patched Vista system the Uninstall option is there under Programs and Features for me.
It's a well-thought out comment.

Furthermore Microsoft has the specs to the Office 2007 XML file format available on MSDN, along with a variety of schemas for parsing it: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338205. aspx
I had a feeling that the math didn't quite add up. The Census data was a nice addition. Well rebuked.

M-M-M-M-Monster Kill!
I hope somebody didn't spend time making this...
Hilarious!

Maddox has a commentary over here.
Duly noted.
You know, as a programmer, you could write it yourself...
Way to fuck up the grammar stakes, buddy.

Or just buy an Intel Mac.

There is Windows for Embedded Systems.
Now I can finally talk to somebody in New Delhi who has seen a computer before!

I can't help but notice you got modded troll incorrectly.
