that also brings up another interesting point, Both Mega Corp & Joe's sell things that let you create your own things, Yet both stores sell the item already made (say in this case Cookies).

Mega corp has all the items you would need to make a certain set of cookies, yet just a couple isles down they sell the exact cookies you are planning on making. Does this mean that Mega Corp is contributing to the theft of the cookie companies out there?

same goes for Joe's, they don't carry as many ingrediants as Mega does but they do carry enough & they sell the same cookies you are planing on making, does this fall under theft? since you are making your own but it was provided to you from someone else.

These games were already released in Japan so Sony must have approved them once (unless they operate way differently in Japan, which I doubt).

actually it is a very different decision process. Simple way to awnser it, look at all the games released in Japan and notice how different each one is (hell they have like 5 million majong games) look at all the games in America and notice the differences between Japan and American games. It all comes down to Demographics, christian influances (don't even try to deny this one, Xenogears was a completly different game in japan then what it is in NA), what is conssidered acceptable and what isn't (Characters that are alittle to close to the KKK yet are obviously making fun of them).

so SCEA says "No that game has to many christian overtones and will get us in trouble" where as SCEJ wouldn't have a problem with it, so they have two options, fully change the story to make it not so christian related or not release it at all.

now with the Goemon game the only thing I can think of is that the graphics looked really dated, but it pisses me off to no end right now to learn they were basically done with the game, fixed the control issues the japanese version had and made it in english only to have sony fuck them over for no reason (btw, I LOVE the Mystical Ninja games, have since the SNES one came out).

I have no problem with quality control but come on, when you have games like Trigger man, Blowout and other games that sell for $9.99 brand new while games that have a history behind them don't get released there needs to be a serious overhaul of how things are done.

hell I wish the FTC would step in and just let the retailers decide what is sold and what isn't, why should it matter what Sony says in the end? they still get a percentage of the sales made as it is.

No topic was taboo and they pulled no punches in their interview questions. Although it was presented in a different format it was no less informative than Icons.

you just explained right there why the show was cancled. $10 says they are getting rid of these shows to make room for a combination of Music videos with cars.

this network is such a joke it's not even funny anymore, they hired all these new people, forced them all to move to LA and then over thanksgiving weekend proceded to fire them all...I still remember that screen savers after thanksgiving...4 people were on the show 4, out of the original 8 (or was it 10?) and the 8 (or 10) were ALWAYS doing something, when it went to 4 they got rid of the audiance (the only smart move they ever did) and butchered the living hell out of the show.

kevin was no longer allowed to talk about the really dark tips he used to, they were turned into crap people that watched that segment knew about making the show pointless to watch, then he was finnaly let go (or quit, I'm not sure which) leaving it with only three. I watched a total of two whole episodes after the cast was cut down to 4, when it was the Screen savers I never missed an episode, when G4 took over and 80% of the cast was let go (since they didn't want to move to LA) I still gave them a chance (probably the only one), when they let go of the cast over thanksgiving weekend though that's when I drew the line, I watched two episodes after that and haven't watched one episode in over a year now. Why should I? It's probably the same bull they were putting on when I stoped watching.

Icons is the only Show G4 has done that is truely interesting to watch, to bad they are focusing more on the "Car Scene" and the "hip-hop" culture then what they should be focusing on. I guess this is what happens when you have old white guys in charge of a company...

    "Sounds like a plan."

as time goes on people lose intrest so they drop the drift racing show and replace it with the man show, after all it has half naked chicks bouncing all around.

with the Office is it really product placement? It's a show about what happens in a workplace (I think, Ihaven't watched to many episodes) so naturally it mimics that and when something new comes out their going to be all over it.

so a Show like The Office works well with product placement but you are right a show like Stargate or Battlestar galactica wouldn't fare to well...after all one is set in an alternate universe and the other set in the future, it would be weird for the Silons (SP?) to suddenly be walking around with video ipods, or the starships to have a huge Pepsi add spread across it, with Stargate it COULD work but only when they are on earth (which doesn't seem to happen a lot anymore) but Atlantis would be screwed.

certain shows would fare better then others and that's how advertising should work, a show like Lost can't do well with product placement cause everything they could talk about would be years old (since that's when the show started) but something like a sitcom on ABC,CBS,NBC or FOX could do really well since they are based on current times.

Personally I love watching adult swim when they air the 15 minute cartoons, simply because it is 15 straight minutes without a comemrcial. If more shows/stations could start doing this I would be pleased and pay more attention to TV, as it stands I usually turn it on but after 30 or so minutes I just start doing something else and leave it on for noise (since they usually air 5-10 minutes of straight commercials I can't tell when the show starts and when the commercials end), so if there is product placement I wouldn't notice it since i am not paying attention cause they just ran 5 commercials.

They need to start picking and chosing though, have product placement in shows where it could work (basically 90% of what's on TV anymore) don't make a whole show out of it though (that E.T. Episode of My wife and kids was the worst one ever) but just work it in to things, like if a couple goes on a date and are looking at movies, show different ones that are coming out for us or are already in theaters, but don't have a 30 minute conversation about what movie to go see, have them go to the theater and decide there, hell make it so it's easy to cut out of the DVD release to, that way it would be more of a win win situation...use more blue/green screens or take two takes for the product placement so for the TV version the can sitting there is for Pepsi but when the DVD comes out that can is changed to some no name brand they just threw in there (like the simpsons used to do, they would make up their own things for the show) For a show like Lost though they would have to run commercials there just is no way around it, Since I doubt people would care to hear them talking about what the latest thing was 2/3/4/however many years ago when that current episode airs, cause it would really screw up the show when someone starts talking about the Xbox 360 even though they crashed a year or two before it was even out, or talking about Aeon Flux when they crashed 2 years prior to it even being heard of.

(say he has Windows 2000 and just upgraded to XP, he doesn't need 2000 anymore) so your friend just gives you the thing he doesn't need anymore, according to the way piracy works, just handing the item you don't need/want anymore over to someone else would be considered piracy. So you don't make a copy of anything or make your own anything just just hand over something, yet they didn't buy it from the original source so the license doesn't transfer with it.

as for Leasing software I can see that backfiring in a few years if they go through with what they want, where you litteraly spend the original $5-$1200 for the program only to find out in order to continue using it you have to pay a yearly subscription. Now this is fine for certain programs but when it's your operating system I tend to think people will draw the line there (with it being Microsoft you know it won't come cheap) imagine one day you turn on the computer only to find out you can't use it cause you didn't pay the software use bill?

Software has to be the greyest area of anything ever done in history, it's the only thing you can spend $50 on and you don't own anything...even though you have the disc sitting right there to prove you own it, I have no problem when it comes to them owning the source code for the program that's fine, it's when it comes down to them dictating what I can and cannot do with it that I have a problem, If they didn't want us to take it apart to look at it why bother releasing it? that's the only way they can stop software piracy, just stop making programs. They obviously don't like it when their source code get's out, yet Microsoft is the only oen I have heard of taking the source of another company releasing a program based on said source first (really buggy of course) then suing the company that actually created the program into submission.

it's not like someone can disasemble photoshop and take a few things here and there for their own program and release it, they would be cought and sued (as they should), but what's wrong when someone does it for their own personal use? Just like with cars, what if it's someones hobby to take a car apart, see how it works and the improve it? They aren't going to start selling these cars themselves, they aren't going to start a competing company, they are just doing it for their own personal joy.
