to me this is a clear trend towards reducing personal freedoms through bureaucratic hoops.
hey I hate the current administration as much as the next guy but come on. Sure the Toothpaste thing is stupid but the 21 people who were going to BLOW UP PLANES were using common stuff and going to combine them to make the bombs.

I can understand the hating to wait for 2+ hours in line (hell who wouldn't? though there are people who are willing to wait upto 2 months before something comes out in line just to be the first) but if it means I can board the plane knowing I don't have to worry about some whacked out fucknut thinking he will go to heaven by killing hundreds of innocent people blowing me up then I am all for it.

I have nothing to hide, if you pay taxes or have a social security card they can already find out everything about you, what's the big deal with having your finger prints on file so you can go through that crap faster? (granted it doesn't mean the flight will be faster cause they have to wait for the passengers in the 2+ hour line to get on) unless of course you fall into the category of not paying your taxes and are in the US illegaly.

it all comes back to the extrimests, if you want to blame anyone for the slow moving security at airports, your inability to bring toothpaste and shampoo on the flight it's not the government you should be blaming.

The thing that I wonder most though, what if the liquid you have is medication? Since they have banned ALL forms of liquid (last I knew) that would include that. So do they have to violate their own law by allowing the person on the place with the medication? or do they break the law by denying the person on the place for something that isn't under their controll?

well, Team Ninja (makers of DOA4) said they were dissapointed that Microsoft didn't go with HD-DVD's and said they had to scale down their movies for DOA 4.

I don't think it really rely's on how many movies there are but how long they are. Just 6 minutes for a 12 fighter game is 72 minutes worth of HD video, I tried converting a couple things into the true HD standard with one of the codecs, for about 10 minutes worth of video the outputted file was over 500mb so even though they are dual layer dvd's they are still restricted by size.

Wait till the JRPG's start coming out, they rely HEAVILY on pre-rendered video, so you get one of those you could look at an easy 2-4 DVD set with just the HD movies they made for it (I bet this will be a reason why a Final Fantasy game on the 360).

well it's simple really, What was the point of the i.Link port? what was Sony's original intention for it?

then the USB ports, what was the original intention for them? maybe the ones that made the FPS' to use the keyboard and mouse combo got scolded by sony for not using only the controller.

as for using the PSP as a "really cool feature/option" I say hell no. The console is already $500 or $600 (depending on which one you get) throwing in another $200 "Accessorie" isn't going to appeal to to many gamers.

I got a Gamecube, half the games I enjoy I can't play with anyone else or get some of the hidden stuff because it DEMANDS I have a GBA, well I don't have a GBA, so I lose out in a lot of stuff. Sure I can barrow my nephews GBA to get some stuff but if we want to play multiplayer in Final fantasy Crystal chronicals where does that leave us?

I bought the DSLite with the hope it would let me hook up the GBA Cable to the gamecube, it didn't and I doubt Nintendo will bother to make a wifi addon for the gamecube to let me use that function.

Now the GBASP is only $90, if you have enough friends they would probably see it as ok. when the Wii comes out the DSlite is only $120. Now you will have a hell of a time trying to convince your friends to spend $200 for a "Controller" so you all can play 1 game together on the PS3 (or in the case of Smackdown vs Raw 2007, to unlock ONE CHARACTER nothing else, just one guy so it cost people $300 to unlock a single secret?).

Sony is getting as arrogant as Nintendo used to, the only difference is Nintendo had the games to back them up, Sony doesn't have hardly anything first party that really make people go "I have GOT To get this system!" but it cost Nintendo, even with having the stuff to back themselves up. So Sony is in for one hell of a fight, they are trying to convince the world that we have to have the PS3 or we are some how lowly people who don't deserve to play video games.

Microsoft is stuck in the middle, they offer a pricey system and they watched what Sony did with the PSP and decided to not make a handheld yet cause what Sony came out with was what they were going to do.

Nintendo is at the front of peoples minds now, they saw that gaming was starting to stall and decided to try a different direction or go down the same path as everyone else and offer the exact same experiances all over again.

The DS really impressed people, it offered new ways to play games (granted there aren't as many developers truely using it for what it can do but they are getting there) so it got people interested in the Wii. The PSP on the other hand offered the same stuff we were already used to just in a smaller form, there really isn't a whole lot they can do to "revolutionaize" gaming on the PSP.

In the end Sony just tried to compete WAY to much with Nintendo, they should of looked at the Nokia Ngage, cause that's the first thing I saw people comparing it to, both played games, you could watch movies, browse the web, listen to music, just the Ngage let you talk to people where as the PSP didn't.

Personally I would much rather buy a Gaming machine first (after all that's what it's supposed to be right?) then add all this stuff as extra features, that way they are all done RIGHT and not half assed. Cause if you have a gaming machine you know it will work, you can make it a great gaming machine. Then you make an addon to play movies, you can make a great addon to just play movies. Then a web browser, samething as before. You make a music player addon it's great cause then you can just upgrade the firmware to support more formats. But when you want ALL of those things done right out of the gate they are going to suffer, cause if you just have those four things then you have to devide up the development, 25% to all devisions or 50% to one then the others will suffer and so on.

There's just a problem with that, their trying to get this stuff to last well beyond the lifespan of the person who patented it (just like with copyrights).

Also look at how many patents are out there, I'm willing to bet there are more patents held by corperations who won't EVER let that patent run out cause they know there is someone out there who can easily make that product 10x better but can't cause they will sue the crap out of him/her.

Patent offices with absolutly NO intention to let people make products or make a product themselves, who just hold the Patent to sue plain and simple, are of course the worst of the worst, since they shouldn't even be allowed to hold patents on anything. They deffinatly don't let their patents run out and they own some that could really be bennifical to the US &/or world but unfortunatly they refuse to let anyone make a product with one of their patents without getting 80% of the profits.

The one thing I couldn't understand is in all the interviews with higher ups involved with the Xbox line was they always said "The Xbox failed in japan because there wasn't enough Japan-centric games, nothing was made for that region. We have learned from this though and the Xbox 360 will have more Japan-centric games"

So they launch worldwide and what is the selection of games japan has? All American & European centric games, not one that would appeal to the Japan crowd. Yet they kept pushing that Dead or Alive 4 would change all that, everyone in Japan would buy a 360 once that game was released.

after the 4th delay it get's released and sales for the 360 barely move. NOW they are going on about the two RPG's from Sakaguchi, like he is going to suddenly sell millions of 360's in japan just cause of his games.

Sure he made final fantasy (or is it Dragon quest?) but that was how many years ago? when games like that weren't exactly abundant, Now you have so many companies doing RPG's that it's hard to tell them apart at times. He's starting two whole new franchises, They have never released an Xbox game before, no one knows what to expect from the game (there isn't exactly a whole lot to go off of, cause you always can remember Fable, everytime they talked about it they would talk about ALL the stuff in the game, in the videos you rarely saw anything, it was released and had nothing they said it would). So naturally the Japanese are taking a wait and see approach.

Maybe the game will be a great RPG and revitalize the RPG genre (doubtfull), Maybe it will fail misserably, who knows but there won't be any mass 360 movements untill they start thinking more about the region and that they NEED more Japanese centric (aka LONG &/or FUN) games, not countless sports, Racing & FPS'.
