Liberal courts rule in favor of equality, not individual freedoms. There is a huge difference there. Democrats are the 'big government' party -- yes yes, I know about all the evils of the current Republican party. I'm talking ideology here not practice. There is nothing in the voting records of democrats to show that they have ever favored taking power from the government against the people as a whole. They are all about putting everyone under a protective, safe, secure, government-organized umbrella.
I got bad news for you on that one, but the plot spoiler is probably one you don't want to hear. Kagan is not a friend to those who want limited government.
Sally: TEACHER, I told Billy he could have my crackers yesterday if he'd give me his desser TODAAAAAAAY! Teacher: Is that true, Billy? Billy: But, but, I didn't KNOW my mommy was gonna make BROWNIES. SALLY just gave me an oreooo! Teacher: Now Billy, you made a legally binding agreement with Sally. I'm afraid that I will have to enforce the terms of the contract, as Sally did uphold her end of the bargain. If you thought you might be getting a brownie today, then you should have just waited and shown some restraint and considered any future ramifications from your actions. Billy: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Now they know what subset of brands your router is manufactured by, since various ones assign different local ip addresses. This lets them target attacks more specifically or search out vulnerabilities specific to certain known firmware issues.
If the government subpoenas Google to see the nature of the data they 'accidentally' collected, can they hunt through the data for evidence of illegal activities by the individual users and then go after them? This seems like it would be a great way for The Man to have access to private data by circumventing unreasonable search protections. After all, they just happened to notice this data while checking to see what data Google had been stea, er, storing.
buuuuut this is not like DMCA or copyright extensions to infinity.
This is a private company, not the government. Also, this is a closed box -- think of the app store as a way for people to make nintendo games. Are you upset at the standards nintendo enforces on people making games for its platform? Then why get your panties in a bunch about the standards apple enforces on people making applications for its console?
In other words, get over it and find something useful to do with your protests. If you don't like how they do it, make a competing product.
I'm sorry, sir, but you are wrong. There is no law that says google has to allow you to use Youtube to post your diatribes. The parent poster was not referring to the content of your expression, he was referring to the private owners' ability to refuse to allow you to post on their service since they own it and it's theirs.
I wish people would mod you down and mod up parent, since he is right and you are out-of-context.
Sadly, this is exactly what I was thinking. If this thing is going off while the cheerleading squad leader has her computer on her desk in the bedroom . . . isn't taking that pic and storing it on school computers punishable by some really hard time?
IMO they should throw everyone responsible in the can and generate some new jobs for the economy simultaneously.
NO COMPANY is "too big to fail." ANY company that fails will be replaced by a competitor. There are *NO* exceptions. Fuck, man, if the government props up a failing company then they are using their power to keep a more innovative, non-failing company from getting a stronger market share.

The Art of Unit Testing
·
· Score: 4, Funny
When I was a young man in the program, they tested the unit by having us march shoeless through 2 miles of uphill, mine-ridden, barbed-wire-laced snow! The unit got tested, and tested HARD! The program didn't allow for no pansy-ass pussy-footers. And did the unit in the program pass its tests? By God it did! You youngsters got it easy just havin to do some stupid vocabulary test to test your unit in the program. Plugging in words. HAH! Try plugging in the gaping hole left by the bark of an exploding tree!
I hate to say it, but everyone who thinks Google is going to stand up to losing that much profit (and China IS a land of opportunity for corporations) is fooling themselves. Google is not your friend. Google is a MARKETING COMPANY. They do data mining and advertising. I have no clue why everyone has such a glint in their eye when they think about them.
Google only published this attack as a method of negotiating with the Chinese. Nothing more.
We are doing better.
If you take the viewpoint of The Man.
If you innovate, then you get to litigate TWICE. Once to defend, and again to collect.

This was just the first link in google when I searched for "bicycle fatally hits pedestrian" -- I'm sure there are many more.
$20.5 billion
You ask to let it die, but what if it REFUSES to die. Like a zombie!

No, for apple we need a ziggurat with a Jobs head statue at the top.
"Shutting down a few wells will hurt the economy of Louisiana and I say tough shit"
And this is why your opinion is irrelevant.

I'm sure that if you install linux from a distro that's 2-3 years old that updating all of that goes really quickly and smoothly.
The point is this: Supposing you have a legitimate patent infringement case, where are you going to take your case?
Because Texas judges have the most patent experience and won't have the wool pulled over their eyes so easily by slick corporate lawyers?

Stability.
It'd be easy for me to make my arguments, too, if I could redefine the elements as part of my proof.
"No, I don't believe cars can run on anything but an internal combustion engine. Anything that does so is no longer a car, but some kind of kart!"

If they aren't punished, then they are above the law.
