Has EasyDNS even actually contacted London UK police to verify this is legit? Could just be the "competing commercial online music services based out of London, UK" spoofing the police to drum up business. How could the police expect traffic to be redirected? Sounds phishy...
Um, why don't they just contact the hosting provider or IP-block owner to takedown the site if they suspect illegal activity? The domain is just an 'easier' way for people to access the site. If EasyDNS succumbs to this I'll have to seriously think about moving to another registrar. Not that I'm running anything quesitonable but what if a user in one of my domains sends something questionable and is investigated by police and orders EasyDNS to takedown my domain... Food for thought.
I'm in the same boat as you. Didn't upgrade to 10.10 due to Unity. Have tried LinuxMint but it didn't do anything for me. I have been playing with Xubuntu 12.x and have been quite impressed with the clean, simple Xfce desktop. Might switch to that once 10.04LTS is no longer supported.
The feminine computing product that Aqqle released is not destroying netbook sales, notebook sales are destroying netbook sales. Heck, I was going to buy my wife a netbook last Christmas when I found a notebook by the same manufacturer for the same price with better processor, more RAM, DVD drive, larger display and full size keyboard. Netbooks looked like a good deal and were something new a few years ago but they're outdated now. Aqqle's iPad will fair the same, until the iTampon comes out...
Well done, give terrorists excellent targets for future attacks. Yes, bombing a few buildings or vehicles and killing people will get you in the headlines but take down data centers and you can really screw the world. Or would they avoid them as they may have data stored in them too? Hmmm...

I wonder if I should loosen up on the paranoia a bit and start networking with some of these folks in case of the all too common layoff scenario that seems to be happening lately. What do other folks here think about this?
I here think there's no need to worry about the layoff scenario and paranoia. Until the machines take over IT administrators will always be needed. Keep on truckin', you'll be fine.
I remember reading about a Large Hadron Collider at CERN(?) in that book Angels & Daemons by Dan Brown. Never did any research about it but it's damn scary that it's possible. That said, I can't wait until the media finally releases where the REAL Jurassic Park is located.

I wouldn't care either. Disabling the domain isn't going to bring the site down. Just a minor inconvenience for users.
