I'd happily ditch Mac OS X and use Linux full-time if there were compelling alternatives to Final Cut Pro and other multimedia apps. Ubuntu Studio looks promising.
Money is not killing open source. If anything, open source software offers more ways to make money than just shoving a disk in a box. I've seen interesting ways of selling open-source software, including subscriptions and bug bounties. Don't forget that you can sell documentation and support!
Anything with the word "nano" in it is automatically cool. I'm hungry for a nanosandwich and some nanofries, with a nanoCoke to wash it down. The preceding sentence was very cool.
It looks like the Indian government is doing this under the umbrella of "cultural sovereignty." They're trying to favor homegrown content rather than the American sites like Google. The Net is blurring national borders, and a lot of people, both in America and abroad, are unhappy about it. They're trying to put a cork in the Net revolution, but it's not going to work.
If there are two types of Mac users: techies and "the rest of us," I'm not sure where I stand. I consider myslef computer-savvy. Although I originally switched to the Mac for my video work, I fell in love with the Unix under the hood. I spend more time in the Terminal than in the Finder. I keep everything updated and don't download anything suspicious. When I used Windows, i found that anti-viruses just waste cycles.
If the stuff these kids turn out is boring and derivative, it's only because they are boring and derivative people. A talented artist can do wonderful things even with Photoshop. The GIGO law applies to digital art too.
In order to increase it's presence in the business intelligence market, Microsoft announced it's plan to acquire business analytics software developer ProClarity.
"It's" is a contraction of "it is." "Its" is a possessive singular pronoun.
One weekend, when I was about 6, a box arrived at our door from Apple. It was the Mac my dad had ordered for his work. He couldn't resist trying it out. I think it was an SE, since it was 1989. I remember playing Tetris on it. The computer went to his office a few days later.
In '92 we went to Costco and bought a Packard Bell 386. It ran at 25mhz, had a whopping 2MB of RAM, and ran the state-of-the-art Windows 3.1.
My dad's office mates would bring home copies of (I didn't know this at the time) pirated games, a practice which stopped after our PC caught a virus!
Today my primary computer is a PowerBook G4.
Microsoft would be better of pullinng an OS X and ditching the DOS/Windows kernel in favor of a Linux or FreeBSD kernel, if only for security purposes. Most Windows users don't use software that's more than a few years old anyway. They could probab;y come up with a "classic mode" for legacy apps for people who need them.

Does he still have any friends? Seriously, this is amazing. This is one of the great feats of geekdom.

This looks great! Maybe I can finally ditch Final Cut Pro. I guess, like other distros, they'll keep the questionable codecs behind the counter.
More than a few people (including a lot of geeks) don't fit into the left or right wings. What about us?

Someone should create a browser that blocks everything BUT pr0n!
I'll start popping the corn, or would that be compiling kernels? I've been saving that joke for such a long time.
Way too many abbrevs in that art.

Hey web designers, stop using them! Most of us have scroll wheels!
