This is what socialists always say when they have no arguments left, often at the the point where the mountains of bodies, or the gulags, are brought into the conversation. Next is an appeal to authority based on some false claim about the person saying these terrible things about their precious religion.

  4. Speak for yourself, troll; if you want something so mundane as tech changes to the kernel, there's a site for that: kernel.org.

The rest of us like /. so deal with it or check out Soylent. ;-)

  10. Slashdot was always a disgusting hole, but this yuk. For a start, most of the things you're describing aren't even things a woman likes! Some young clueless man is going to read this and wonder why she ran away when he shat on her chest. Come on... I'm against censorship.

Don't make them wield it against valid but offensive opinions and facts that "trigger" people - with the excuse being *your* poor taste and disgusting attitudes to sex.

This stuff *reeks* of Anti-Fa and the far left false-flagging these posts so that the censorship *they want* is implemented!

    I have a solution:

    1) No More AC
    2) No Censorship
    3) Public Discussion and Moderation System Functions As It Should
    4) Add "ignore" per-user to every post. Cut that idiot out of your "circle". Posts by users who pass an "ignore threshold" are not shown to anonymous users or search engines (appeal-able, decisions to be given to the actual moderation system en-masse)

It's definitely not the real APK. I have old old beef, and almost kinship too, with APK, which I've tried to bait him to reveal (so I can then wind him up - nobody's perfect). No satisfaction. lol! The reason he can't go back that far in his "memory" is because this guy isn't as good as APK was at managing his AC posts - maybe APK manually kept an offline database of all his AC CID's and SID's.

The original APK was an intelligent and amusing sparring partner, and he used the hidden mechanisms of /. with skill and very deftly. This one (many of them?) is but a shade of APK, a poor copycat. So say I. And so says my UID and posting history. Thank you for reading this far. Now get off my lawn poor copycat.

Maybe I'll open an "APK museum" on a hidden SID - or maybe just let him die. What's best? What really happened to APK? Someone's got to care about him, surely! Obnoxious twats (me) giving a damn about other obnoxious twats, who would've thunkit?

  18. Anyone who has ever had a phone stolen or lost and turns off data and location when not using them actively to save battery (my S7 cannot last the day with data on, budget phones are better for battery life than my flagships!) knows that Google cannot spy on on me unless I ask them to.

Repeat, turning off data and location results in an unfindable phone, combine this with all of the FRP bypasses and bugs, and you realise, Google can only spy if you let them. Otherwise, I'd still have the S5 and a Z Ultra on my belt with the S7, HTC ONE M9, and Tab S which all behave the same way if you turn off data.

At the time, I wished Google was spying on me! I would have at least been able to chase my S5 and confront the criminals. The reason Google give for this loophole? Privacy. This silly argument is killing me!

  25. Yes, I suppose you think you're a clever troll, "US-centric site" and all that, but I guess you didn't think of it like this...

Growing up in the UK with only pay-per-minute dial-up Internet, at 5.6 kilobytes per second, caused by the existence of the state monopoly British Telecom, was unbelievably frustrating for someone who was already programming at 6 and very lonely. Convincing my parents we needed the internet was like convincing them that we needed a large angry money-eating cobra roaming freely in the house. Fixed price connections were not available until long after I left home here in the UK.

I lost count of the amount of times I said to people "if only I lived in America, with free local dial up and BBS's and computer clubs and friends who are into computers..."

So there's quite some irony in the fact that I now have a portable battery operated server running linux, which can move several floppies per second, up or down, wherever I am, for a fixed fee, while you lot get gouged per Gig, isn't there??

That comment is VERY, VERY, ontopic and those who have moderated me "Overrated" are just dumb assholes who should instead be asking "Why has this happened to our Internet if that witty FP can tether as much as she damn well likes, with no contract, in the Land of the Rip-Off Internet, the UK?"
