Those who actually have faith and believe in their religion don't need science to back it up.
Unfortunately too many nut cases mix the two and try to use one to refute the other.
Nothing is more satisfying talking to a creationist who uses scientific studies and fact to back his case(silt levels, etc). All you have to do is point out that they can't use science to back their argument because they say that science is wrong and all we should rely upon is the bible.
It all boils down to faith. If you have it truely, you don't need to convince yourself using any religious text or scientific fact. It also means that arguments with others are not needed since there is nothing to really argue about.
I'm not quite sure, but you realize that ATI's cards will run Doom3 just fine and Nvidia will run HL2 just fine.
This is all a lot of posturing, no way a major studio would hurt sales by making a game perform so much better on one video card as to make the other unplayable.
And judging by the fact that people have written very very nice wrappers for nvidia only demos (dawn) so that they run even better on ATI hardware doesn't make me worry too much.
Although I reccomend not getting a new video card until the next generation NV40/R420 come out.
Very true, that's how I learned. But with slakware way back in the day.
But I think for someone who wants a desktop replacement, an alternative to Windows, they're not really looking to learn much.
I think it's just being smart about who is asking for Linux info. If it's not the kid in your CS class , provide a Live CD first. Then move on from there.
You're right, people obviously care. But I meant my question to be more along the lines of, if there wasn't the conflict with Mozilla, would this be frontpage news on slashdot rather than a newspost on freshmeat?
the million or so teenage gamers who make that transition into gamers-with-disposable-income-and-creditcards?
Yeah and the vast majority will become, former-hardcore-gamers-now-casual-gamers-with-disp osable-income-and-creitcards-but -but-with-less-time-to-spend-on-games-and-better-t hings-to-spend-money-on.
MMORPG's require a certain taste in games(RPG), a certain time commitment, and thus chances are the number of MMORPG players will remain leveled off.
Every few years multi-headed gaming rears its head (haha).
It's not going to catch on any time soon.
Matrox Did it right with their latest 3d card. Offering the use of 3 monitors. Several games supported this natively but the comparitively poor 3D speed led few to pick it up.
Until it is the defacto standard to have 2 or 3 LCD's on a desk you're not going to see gamers using this over one large high resolution monitor.
would the game have sold as well without the Miyamoto notoriety?
I'm sorry but the core of purchasers in the States have no idea who Miyamoto is. I highly doubt they all ran out to buy it like they do to buy the next Grisham book.
Nope, still play PS1 games all the time on my PS2. Great idea. If PS3 has a great launch title and lets me play PS1 & 2 games I might even jump in at launch.
While that's all nice. I think it's the server that gains the most from being ported to 64bits anb taking advangtage of oodles more memory.
Although there are no benchmarks to say either way, I don't think that a 64bit client would see that much faster execution. Now a x86-64 client optimized for 3dNow2(or whatever is in the AMD Chip) instructions would see some nice speedups.
Do they have a similar setup of the Rover's internals?
I mean, do they have a duplicate that they could fill up the flash memory and try and fix it when there's no latency? Then follow the steps on the rovers?
3 PPC G5's? And how much do they want to lose on each Xbox2? This is just what we call 'Wild Speculation'
I think personally it will have magical elves doing the graphics and you'll have to feed them cookies every night!
Honestly the original Xbox was 'rumored' to have 3 CPU's.

HB: If nothing happens, reboot again go into your BIOS and change the boot order of your drives so that your CD-ROM boots first, it might be called HD1 or HD0 depending on your setup.

At least that's my take on it.

Very true, but it's hard not to want one of them big ass 42" - 50" HDTVs ::)
I hope so, maybe by the time PS3 comes out I can afford a HDTV that will actually make getting a PS3 worth while.
I personally like my girls to be software. There's something just not very girlish about being HARDware.
I'll tell you where the idea came from. Someone realized that it was a great game and maybe with some marketting a sequel could do well.
That or maybe someone really pitched a great improvement and just needed a solid base to start with.
I gotta rent that game again, never beat it.
10) Hammer.
if 10 fails
11) Shotgun.
Congrats problem solved, human destressed.

Just kind of curious if anyone would care at all if there hadn't been the big stink with the name conflicts.
I mean, has anyone used this database? Is it really of any note that v1.5 is out?
That was a cool story. But damnit he could've written so much more!
That's the problem with short stories sometimes, they could've been even better had they been longer.

That is definitely true. For work I plugged an old 17" CRT into my laptop and now without it I am less productive and simply more 'confined'.
Strange, but I can't see a game producing the same effect, but I say bring it on!

IQ on PS1 is highly addictive, give it a shot.
Honestly I'd rather have had BF1942 for the year and enjoy it and deal with no filters and the assorted other little annoyances.
It was a great game when it first came out, and it only got better.

Saving games on a network is a horrible horrible idea.
I can't play my game because my broadband is down? Or if I want to stop using it but still want to play my games.
Not going to happen.
You can't really expect it to look that much different from Halo 1.
The original Halo pushed the Xbox's hardware pretty far. A sequel can't go much further.
Unlike Doom3 and HL2 which scale down to lesser PC's an Xbox, while like a PC is stuck with 3 year old hardware.
So now that people see what is possible with DX9 OGL2 hardware what would've been awesome 2 years ago is, feh.
For all you kernel and OS heads out there. Was this primarily due to shitty software being run on the rover?
I mean could VxWorks be responsible for not being able to function with the Flash RAM filled?
Other than the fact that it is self describing data. I mean who needs that?
