Steep learning curve? Anyone with a bit of common sense can figure it out on their own in maybe 10-15 minutes
Once they have, it's much more powerful than 2003, or for that matter OOo which is less powerful than either. 2007 has a "faster" interface and better presentation features.
I'll admit that I've only been around computers for 15-odd years (and work with them), but I "grew up" on menus and find the ribbon a much better fit for office applications.
I like the manifestoes of open-source a lot better, but an OSS desktop to really compete with Windows is still a long way off (they've got OSX beat hands down though). OOo should get the Beryl guys to help them out; that'd be interesting.
I like this form of packaging, because once you know how to open it, if you need to return an item, everything just slides back into the hard form of the package. You only cut the welds off one or at most two edges. Taking that a step further, you can use the package to protect fragile products. I had a pair of nice headphones that got killed in my bag quite fast, but after I exchanged them and used the packaging for armor, the new pair remains intact.
One is buying rights. One is... well, I don't really know much about the SCO stuff but I'll be damned if this isn't an over-the-table license acquisition.
As long as it's good. Windows is best for some people, OSX for others, and *nix for others.
There are certain things, like Flash >7 or Photoshop (which can do certain exclusive things such as vector layer-styles) that aren't open-sourced or *nix compatible. On the other hand, Firefox is an example of an open-sourced program that's thought of as the best available.
Point is, most everyone will use whatever is best, regardless of what they can do with the code.
Hold Cmd-S at startup to get into a root terminal. From there:
fsck -fy && mount -uw / && rm/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
That single flag file, when removed, will allow you to access the computer as though it was just set up. Kills all the user accounts though (not their files)
Why do something just because it's different? Being different for the sake of being different isn't much better than conforming for the sake of conforming...
Is FiOS or Comcast more expensive? And by how much?
Seriously. Don't you have something better to do?
I smell FUD. It says in the article that most scientists dismiss the whole doomsday machine theory.
1. Get a million dollars in exchange for right to vote. 2. Pay 10 undecideds $100 to vote for the candidate of your choice. 3. Profit!
I believe Dell Latitudes have them. I'm guessing Thinkpads do too.
Except that OOo can open MSO formats.

Don't most search engines filter out NSFW sites?
All the components in the repository would already be debugged though.
You obviously haven't seen the 2007 beta.

Yes lameness filter that is what I want to post because it is actually relevant and must be worded that exact way
My T30 never does that. The worst thing that happens is I need to reconnect to a wifi network.

Let's hope so. $230 Zunes sound pretty kickass.
How much did the test mission cost? (Just because it didn't get into space doesn't mean we can't learn from it)
Maybe when Microsoft lobbies for it.
Thanks! Mod 'em up, guys!

Thinkpads have good touchpads too.
