I am an independent artist and also run a large online radio station. I cannot stand the RIAA as much as the next person but its unfair to penalize the Independent artists who are working hard only to get crushed by RIAA because they are not with a major label. I deal with this every day but I refuse to let it beat me.
You have an excellent point here. Excellent! Eventually the media or someone else will seek out personals from the RIAA employees and bust one of them right in the gut with what they are preaching. Practice what you preach, right? I'd put Vegas odds on the fact that you can find at least ONE Employee of the RIAA using what they call "Unauthorized" recordings. It's like the Congressman who states we should conserve water and then goes out and waters his lawn 10x a day in his 10,000 sq ft mansion!
AT&T clearly has no clue. My wife works from home for a very large company. In fact they let her move out of state where they don't even have an office. They are letting more and more workers telecommute because her company understands the big picture of retaining employees. In fact they pay for our net connection as well as her business phone, fax, printer, and other expenses. Her boss yelled at her for NOT expensing stuff soon enough because its SOO much cheaper for the company to allow telecommuting than bringing them into the office. This company CLEARLY gets it.
It's coming. Winds of change are about to blow. No more suppression. Technology is too far advanced and this is the way it will be. Resources are too easy to get to create and produce your own QUALITY music now. You don't need a major label if you have the will and the motivation to do it yourself.
I just hope the RIAA or one of the other groups doesn't come out with skewed numbers and they give DRM-Free music a fair chance. I don't want to see some limited set of data after one month that says piracy was up. DRM clearly doesn't have a future.
I'd beg to differ. On the day of September 11th, 2001, my sister was working in Manhattan. I could NOT get through to her to find out if she was ok for obvious reasons. I sent and email since that was the only means of communication. Guess what?? She got it and responded via email to let me know she was ok.
If the customer lived in certain states such as Florida it would be a moot point. Florida has laws against CompleteCare type coverage. Purchases are not eligible for certain types of warranties.
Viruses survive more in warmer weather. Though we associate the common cold with colder temperatures, the cold actually inhibits them from growing. Viruses are more prevalent in the winter because humans are in closer proximity to each other due to the fact that they are inside more.
I run one of the more popular net electronic stations out there and I am of course glad to see this. I am also an artist and I have no problems with equality on the internet. It's clearly the way to go and I think people will becoming more creative with out to make money out of net radio. Right now I am not profitable at all. I split the cost with 3 guys and I carry most of the load of maintenance.
Seriously, are we surprised at Walmart's ignorance? C'mon, they don't give a flying fuck. I had identity theft back in 1999 and some fucker stole my checks and wrote 50% of them at Walmart. Walmart accepted all of them and when I tried to straighten it out they could give a shit.
Nothing says "I want to purchase that CD" more than higher prices! Sounds to me like they just want to push the CD completely out of the way and move to digital. RIAA admitting a mistake? NAH!
Aint that the truth! Seriously, my uncle just decided to go to law school at age 63 and get a law degree. He's finishing up in May. He doesn't think he'll ever use it but it's just the challenge that counts.
I also totally hear what you are saying. I'm 34 and I haven't been challenged in years. I've been considering going back into my original field of study, Meteorology. I also have been a musician since I was 5. I've been putting out CD's on the side hoping there will be a breakthrough. Unfortunately you need to do what pays the bills, but if you get enough money saved up, you might be able to follow a dream.
Damn you double posts! I need one of those touchscreens. I fat fingered it!
Wow that would be one mighty thin iPhone. Lets see Apple come up with that one!

You can't complain about not being able to see the hockey puck on TV now!!

What happened to "No Child Left Behind?" We wonder why we're falling behind in Chemistry!

Order the CD now while you still can!
Didn't the Egyptians figure this out like 3000 years ago?
Greedeo killed the Net Radio Star!

...and call the Better Business Bureau

"Tonight at 11. Commuters leave roadways to ride new rail. Not enough power to run the rail."

Communism at it's finest!
Is that why we're in demand now more than ever? Until we have complete AI programming AI, there will always be the need to engineer software.
We should have a Celebrity Death Match!
