I get horrible *horrible* sinus infections that simply cannot be cleared up by anything but antibiotics, and I still put off taking them until I'm sure it won't clear up on its own. Am I the only person on earth that antibiotics leave terribly nausiated?
Being Catholic (well, raised, not practicing), I can corroborate that statement. I do know several Catholics who use such things, myself included (BCP). Though, of course, as I prove by posting on Slashdot, I've never had to use them as actual contraceptives. The Pill has some pretty wonderful medical uses as well.
Watching the buzzards return to Hinkley is how Ohio celebrates Spring (and I'm not kidding, sadly enough.): http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2430244 It's the hick version of the swallows returning to Capistrano (and I say that as a born and bred hillbilly myself).
I attended college in Granville Ohio, and the buzzards return there each year as well. They roost in the trees and scare the bejeebus out of the students. They'll all rise up at dawn and quite literally blacken the skies.
I know this is really late to respond to this but... I'm assuming you folks were smart enough to use low heat or something?
I know someone personally who accidentally dried their cat. The heat killed the cat (roasted it, from the description, which was really sickening). So I'm guessing it could get hot enough in there to do a person some damage?
"Also, periodic retesting seems to me to be a no-brainer. We know that people become less safe on the road as they age, and although I respect elderly people's desire for independence, they have no right to drive beyond the point where they are physically and mentally competent to do so. Having a drivers license last 5 or 10 years would do a lot to make sure that people (all people, not just elderly drivers) don't just forget how to properly drive once they become licensed, and it would also be a vehicle for updating techniques and encouraging retraining. Most skilled professions require this, and driving a motor vehicle shouldn't be an exception."
I can both agree and disagree with this -- and I'd totally agree with it if Ohio would cut their stupid "manueverability" test out of the reqs for driving. I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to pass that stupid thing now, after 6 years from my test (I was 18... didn't need to until then), but I can park my truck wherever I need to and squeeze it into spots that I'd rather not when I absolutely have to.
The manueverability test, for those that don't know, requires going backward and forward through 5 cones in a way that's *supposed* to simulate parallel parking (I think) but in reality presents a scenario that no one will ever really encounter while driving. I'd rather see the rough road simulation stuff than that garbage.
I'm a little late on the draw, here, a day behind, but I think I know how you could do the design in your example with CSS without a problem. I'm guessing from the way you write that you were thinking to use CSS positioning? There are easier ways, that work pretty much cross browser (Netscap 6 seeming to always be the odd man out, but if you can afford to set that one aside, you're gold.)
Are you on the css-discuss list? They can be pretty snarky, but they're also helpful.
I'll grant you your last point, though; I've been doing CSS for more than 6 years now and am just now truely getting the hang of it and getting around some of my early sticking points.
Can I add, what about machines that aren't connected to the net? Was XP timebombed from the start so that they'll keel over, too?
If my work machine dies, whoop de do, somebody else will fix it, but if my sibs' homework-doing computer* croaks with their stuff on it, I don't think they'll be too happy.
* I'm slowly training them to use something other than Windows, but it takes time. The homework-doing machine isn't networked because I know just enough to know that I don't know enough to secure it.
Speaking of someone from the midwest, our main problem with thunderstorms is wind, not flooding.
I don't think there's a one-size-fits-all solution to this thing, though.
Nope, but around here the dump trucks take over. Recently we had some guy knock down the lines with the truck bed up, then in his hurry to get away he rolled the lined up on his axle and pulled down three poles.
But in reality, I think you're right and backhoes happen more often.
I had a healthcare spending account... I'm pulling out of it.
While it's a great idea, most implementations are horrible, as bad as fighting with insurence, almost. I'd spend half an hour setting up a small claim, and the an hour fighting with them a week later because they didn't want to pay it. A month later I *might* get my cash back.
I've decided to skip the account and just save my own money. I wasn't saving any more in taxes than I was losing in time spent arguing with the company.
Just out of curiosity... wouldn't that double the page size if you're doing that for every bit of text? (I don't know too much about Flash, so don't slam me if it won't, but it is the first things that came to mind)
I'm gonna take a wild stab and say that girls that play with legos tend to be into the "boyish" stuff already... or at least they don't need to have everything come in pink. Hey, I want most of that stuff and last time I checked, I was female.
My sister's our current lego fiend. She has almost every Harry Potter set. I was a fiend in the early 80s when things were simpler (I still have my bin of yellow and red blocks -- the fanciest thing that came with that set were the kitchen doors.). My brother has loads of the newer stuff that he throws in a bin and makes strange vehicles out of, though last year we just bought him a load of assorded blocks, which he was thrilled about.
As someone who goes to the Catholic Church on the "wrong side of the tracks", I'm insulted.
No, actually, I'm kidding. I agree. Many many Catholic Churches are all about show and power. The one I attend at the moment is not, but that's because it can't afford to be.
Wow, interesting! I have the same trouble and had wondered for quite a while if it had a name.
I generally find it easier to make sure that I'm watching a speaker's face while listening to something important... evidently I lip read without knowing it. It gets much harder when the person turns away.
Gah, how can people stand to do this?

I'm in shape, exercise regularly, and still get bad heartburn.
It's called GERD, it's a nasty bastard, and it doesn't necessarily come just from weight (though that can really, really aggravate it).
I mean, I can't even drink *milk* for cryin' out loud any more and I still have problems.

Probably misplaced and two days late, but I'll try anyway...
I'm a grunt.... sort of, anyway... and I'd like to get security training. Does anyone here know how to go about doing so?
I've already checked with local Universities -- not offered.
More information specific to girls in the girls book.
And yeah, we've both in our house. I read it growing up as well, but only after I got "the talk".

Add the Letters of Paul to the "clearly against" list.
But I think he was somewhat crazy.*
*Raised Catholic, 13 years of parish schooling (K-12), and two semesters theology in College.
Like hell they are. I just got my data stolen by someone who walked out with a server. This was only a little over a week ago.

I'm a day late and a dollar short here... but I really like that idea and thought I'd tell you so.
Amen on the banning race/sex/etc! (and this is coming from a woman, someone who's supposed to benefit from this stuff)
People have to spend that many tries per word? I'm amazed. Most crosswords, except for pop-culture or really hard ones, I zip through.
You made me feel really smart all of a sudden. Thanks for the (probably undeserved) warm-fuzzies.

Unless you're Roman Catholic (Eastern Orthodox Catholic, too, I think, but I can only speak for what I've studies). Then it really is blood and flesh.

They tell me that the S-10 was the best vehicle Chevy ever made... I certainly hope they're right; I bought one. Too soon to tell how it will hold up.
Unfortunately what they've replaced it with is an ugly little moster of an SUV-looking thing.
Wow... you're back every 2 months for a new script? Is that the law in your area?
I have the same trouble, and I have a year's script, and can just call in to get it renewed.
