    I understand what your saying and where your heading.. and good on you..
    My main bitch was really at others on this forum.. they're all bitching about the crap they got..

    but there you have it.. we all expect different things from our employers/employee's.

    You sound like a good manager.. don't want to hire an aussie Sys Admin do you? ;-)

    I don't agree with you..
    I work.
    I get paid for the work I do.
    If I do over time I get given time off in thanks for the over time I do ( about 6:1 ).
    I don't expect the company of whom work for to fork out a "gift" for me because of a holiday that was started by some other blokes religion. (me being an atheist)

    Why should the company give something for nothing?
    Where is the accountability in that?

    I work my arse off for this comnpany.. I'm on call 24/7
    Yet I still think that these "bonus's" are a waste, and don't help anyone..

    Anyone who has been in a leader postion or work with HR will tell you.. it doesn't matter how much the gift is worth, or how often you give them... it will NEVER be enough..
    You have to work WITH people, not bribe them.

    The guy seems a bit short sighted..
    As he says.. linux is modular and goes great with embedded/prepackaged devices..

    yet it wont make it as a desktop replacement..

    to me it seems like all desktops will end up being embedded/pre-packaged devices (solid state thin clients?) so if thats going to be the case.. then LINNUX WILL BE the desktop of the future...
