Thank you! I've been saying this forever. There's relatively few female mechanics, plumbers, electricians, and tons of other jobs, too. As much as society wants to claim that men and women are exactly the same, it's just not true. We statistically have different interests, etc. Obviously we should have the same rights for everything, but the genders are not the same.
I'm pretty sure every blizzard game for at least the last 10 years or so has been cross-platform windows/mac. Probably longer than that, really not sure. No linux support yet that I'm aware of.
So, what you're saying is that you, some guy on the internet, have discovered the secret to peace and human nature? These are things that people have been discussing and searching for answers for basically forever, but nevermind all that. You have the answer. You've figured out the way the world works. How fortunate I am to have stumbled across this obscure comment on the internet, so that I may be enlightened as well.
It should solely be the ISPs problem, but unfortunately, as a result of their overselling, the rest of us(in the US at least) are forced to deal with slower speeds than we thought we were paying for. That makes it our problem too. I would vote with my dollars and switch ISPs, but I've been with the other one here, and they're not any better.
AD&D wasn't that hard to figure it out. However, bricks were necessary. You need something to hit yourself in the head with until the ridiculously counter-intuitive rules started making sense. I still haven't fully recovered.
Having worked at a movie theater, I can assure you the morbidly obese are not avoiding them. In fact, they seem to gather there in huge numbers to devour gallons of popcorn soggy with butter, and drain 64 oz sodas, coming back for refills. Skinny people, or even average weight people, were definitely an abnormality at the concession stand.
Some religions are more irrational than others, but all are irrational simply by the fact that they base themselves on a belief in something for which no evidence exists. The beleif in god is inherently irrational. It's not necessarily wrong, it's just irrational.
I personally think people can have whatever silly beliefs they want as long as they don't try to push them on other people, whether it's on the streets shoving bibles in people's faces, or through legislation. You can believe the back of a cereal box is divine scripture for all I care, just leave me out of it.
I find plenty of religious people to be rational about most things. It's just about religion that they are irrational. Religion is inherently irrational, as it involves absolute certainity in something utterly unprovable, intangible, and usually contradictory.
Theoretically, people are trying to change it. There is quite a bit of discontent in the country. The problem is, non-violent solutions don't seem to be that effective. We have these ridiculous closed voting machines that don't accurately keep track of votes, so even votes for candidates espousing ethics reform, etc., don't necessarily count. Writing your representative apparently only works if you attach really large checks with your letter. We're kind of in a rut, and I honestly don't know a good way out of it without an armed rebellion. Big brother probably has me on a list now, for this post, but like fuck am I giving up my free speech out of fear.
Actually, every nokia phone I've owned has survived some pretty extreme water damage. I just let it dry out for a day or so and it keeps working. They certainly aren't waterproof, but they do seem to be self-resurrecting after drops in the lake, etc. I'm not even talking about just the basic Nokia brick either. Their flip phones have also held up remarkably well.
that's definitely true. I never buy music unless I've already heard the artist, and seeing as most artists I like don't get much in the way of airtime, downloads are the way to do it. I've easily spent hundreds more dollars on music than I ever would have otherwise thanks to "piracy".
That's not in any way contrary to my opinion. Those are the things I think the government should do. Making sure the poor of our country can get medical attention is promoting general welfare.
The reason I say we waste billions on the drug war is because there are no results seen from it. It's pretty much the definition of waste: using a lot of a resource for no, or insufficient gain. I support legalizing most vices and taxing them. We could be making money off drugs as a nation, instead of spending so much trying to get rid of something that the general population doesn't even really want gone.
Somebody being poor is in way an indicator of intelligence or lack thereof. I do think people should pay for their own mistakes, but it's hardly a person's fault what parents they're born to, or what color their skin is.
Here in the US, we have (in theory) a government of the people, for the people, etc. For the people. The government exists to serve us, the citizens. Wasting billions trying to enforce prohibition isn't serving us, so I think they should stop. On the other hand, extending medical care to all of its citizens, regardless of class, would be serving the people, and thus is OK. The issue isn't nearly as complicated or contradictory as you seem to think it is.
Strawman argument. If you actually look at most of the comments here, very few/.ers seem to think this is a good idea. It's bad when Microsoft does it, and it's bad when Mozilla does it too.
Have you actually listened to any of his speeches, or just seen 5-second clips on the evening news? Both speeches I've seen in person have been very heavy on substance, and not just empty rhetoric. It does seem to be a common misconception, perpetrated by the clinton campaign, that he doesn't actually address issues, but it's just flat-out not true. Don't just parrot what you hear, do a little of your own research.
I work at Starbucks. A grande(medium, regular, whatever) coffee is $2.00, after taxes. So, that is where he got that number.
Also, while it is true that not everybody gets really complicated drinks, most people do. The people who order just black coffee are few and far between. To those of you who do, god bless you. It's nice to not have to write a goddamned essay on every single cup.
I also work at starbucks, and our store is strategically located in the parking lot such that you can't actually quite reach the free wifi of the neighboring businesses who have been kind enough to provide it. We actually do lose quite a few customers who come in expecting free wifi, and are disappointed. This AT&T deal is actually a good thing.
This is a fairly huge problem in the US. People are so afraid to be disagreed with, they boycott anything that mildly upsets them. Maybe if people wouldn't shut out dissenting opinions so goddamned often, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in as a country right now.
Here in Austin, TX, that is definitely what is going on. There are many times when a few patrol cars will just park in the left lane, and set up cones, but never do anything else. Narrowing a highway to 1 or 2 lanes from 3 or 4 is what kills traffic. That and the assholes who wait until the last possible second to try and switch lanes instead of getting over safely a half mile back.
Our little Subaru (2.0l I4) is fairly decent on gas mileage, but I'd love a diesel if they ever started making one. First, Subaru doesn't make an I4, its an H4, and second, they are making a diesel. I am pretty excited about the Subaru diesel, myself.

No(not a US citizen), but he's a large shareholder in diebold.

I live in Texas. It does affect how he runs this state. And it's not good.

Man, something very similar just happened to me, and it sucks a whole lot. This is totally offtopic from the article, but I feel you man.

Hey now, this is /., not VH1.
