I hate to be sexist, but I avoid lines that have women in them because most won't even start looking for their card until the last item is scanned (also they are more likely to write checks) even though one can swipe a card after the first item is scanned.
Thank you, it wasn't there a few years ago and not easy to find (you just made my life a lot easier). You can find discussion groups with people begging for the feature in 2005 and being told that it's against the very nature of VLC to have that. I guess I stopped waiting for it...
I don't know why VLC developers hate frame-by-frame. If I want to read something on a piece of paper in a video let's say, I can't just advance one frame at a time.
I made the mistake of using my real name on hulu, then I found out my activity was searchable on google. so then I had to change my name to something else then cancel account and create a new account with a fake name just so people can't see what/how many shows I've watched.
Needless to say I will never get a hulu plus account.
And more importantly, I never use my real name unless I absolutely have to. I wasn't so careful in the 90s, so my name still shows up next to posts I have made back then.
I have a rare name.

tried to sign up to dwolla a while ago. half way through, they asked for my ssn. at the time, i didn't think it was worth it so i didn't provide it. but magically, i ended up on their spam email list. fuck them and they shitty spam emails, will never use them now.
If I install flash or silverlight, it's on my whole computer (any browser can use it (I know I can disable individually blah)). Maybe with this, I can install a plugin on one of my firefox profiles and leave the rest of my computer unpolluted?
It doesn't mean they are using computers with silverlight installed. Roku, game consoles, google players, a lot of TVs and DVD/blueray players, tablets, and phones play netflix.
I bought a kindle fire (original) at a physical store solely because online reviews said that amazon associates your kindle to your account before shipping it to you. so if it got stolen in the mail or by the door (because of the stupid kindle sticker on the box), the thieves can buy crap on you amazon account.
I regret buying it though, since the kindle app on an ipad is more user friendly (for example, it takes fewer steps to change brightness within the kindle app on the ipad than on the kindle fire).
most likely your email address is in the contacts (address book) of someone who has your email they download an app on their phone that scraped your email address?
Yes, there is no excuse for not installing a free program
I don't want to install java on my mac so that is my reason for not installing libreoffice...
One of the reasons I like slashdot is that I learn stuff that has nothing to do with the topic.
I did not know about startpage.com, thank you!
Lie down? I don't understand what it's laying.
But does it come with the ask toolbar?

it still takes up space. and does hiding it mean disabling it? or does it still use up the battery if it runs in the background?
Maybe the trailers giving away the endings is part of it too?

or, wait for it, control-p
apple routers are good (very stable, reliable) though with less features (QoS etc)

(Morbo voice): holodecks do not work that way!
(I would have put it in all caps but slashdot didn't let me).
Don't make a joke on facebook in the UK about it, you might get arrested.
Yes that is the point I'm making

for astroturfing, look at the 5 star reviews on amazon for "a dance with dragons".
