I live in the Twin-Cities metropolitan area and my Gamestop only had eight units available (12 units minus the four employees could buy). I couldn't believe it as they told me they had seven PS3 preorders for sale earlier in the week. Anyways, he also told me that Gamestop was getting 800,000 units from Nintendo, which I don't know what that suggests.
I ended up getting to the store at 8:30 when they opened at 10:00. I was fifth in line and it was all kids and your stereotypical slobs. It was also 30 degrees out and with the wind-chill about 10 degrees, but luckily I had brought a blanket along and wrapped that around my legs.
I ended up preordering the system, Zelda, and Trauma Center. Looking forward to not standing out in the freezing cold in late November.
This isn't that huge of a deal, all of the employees of Clover were rolled back into Capcom and most of the lead developers still have contracts with Capcom in one way or another.
My old roommate used to beta test this game, but he hated interacting with people. There was one time where he actually spent 20 minutes running away from what seemed like the only other person on the server. Very funny. Not sure if Myst was the best game to choose to move to the MMO setting.
In your post-post-script, make sure you remind Will Wright what he had to do with Civilization 3. (of course Sid and Will have worked together on projects before, but not Civ 3; and I know you also mentioned Sid in the same sentence, but the letter is directed towards Will, and not Cid; but I digress from my cleverly disguised pointing out your error reply)
Well, if you had the choice of releasing your hugely anticipated game a few months earlier in August or September, or waiting until the week before your number one competitor was releasing their video game console, what would you do?
10 years ago today I received my Nintendo 64. I was almost as excited as the infamous Nintendo 64 kid on youtube when my mom walked in the house with it. Of course my TV only had RF input so I couldn't play it until I got an adapter, but that's long forgotten.
I remember playing Super Mario 64 for the first time, holy crap that was incredible. Still is incredible. I even loved playing Shadows of the Empire even though it's probably unplayable today. Mario Kart 64 came out in March of '97, easily the greatest racing game of its time.
I really loved the N64. Harvest Moon 64 (one of the greatest sequels ever), Wonder Project J2 (import only), Star Fox 64 (do a barrel roll!), Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Zeldas (Majora's Mask was better), all the Rare games (including Blast Corp), Beetle Adventure Racing, Mischief Makers, Super Smash Bros...
Holy crap I'm gonna plug my N64 in tonight and play some Mario. And maybe shed a few tears.
I would argue that one game alone helped move atleast 1/10th of PS2's total sales: Grand Theft Auto III. The game sold over 11 million copies, also leading to its two direct sequels which each sold 13 million copies. That's almost 40 million games sold from three titles. The game also spawned/expanded a whole new genre, creating a path for titles like the Getaway (over 3 million copies sold) and True Crime (just under 3 million copies sold).
Who knows how many people bought a PS2 simply for the Grand Theft Auto experience, of course nobody, but it definitely had a huge effect.
Final Fantasy is coming to the Wii. Though in the form of Crystal Chronicles, which suffered from GBA connectivity for the Gamecube. Hopefully this version doesn't require four Nintendo DS's and four link cables to play four player.
If anyone is confused about Blue Dragon, it was developed by the game studio Hironobu Sakaguchi created after he left Square-Enix. Sakaguchi was the creator of the Final Fantasy series.
My upconverting DVD player requires HDMI to upconvert the SD resolution picture to HD. I've heard about firmware hacks with other players to get passed this, but not for my player.
Perfectly Scientific, Dr. Crandall's company which developed the FFT algorithm used by GIMPS, will make a poster you can order containing the entire 9.8 million digit number. It is kind of pricey because accurately printing an over-sized poster in 1-point font is not easy!
And to think, all I had was a Ghostbusters poster when I was growing up.
Click print to view them all in one page. But seriously, where's Roberta Williams? Sure she's been retired from gaming for a few years, but she paved the way for women in the industry.
Agreed, most of these books are required reading in English classes in high school and many will read them in college too. This seems like more of a list of books that were randomly challenged at some point in time for who knows what reason. But the list of authors makes for excellent reading: Hemingway, Faulkner, Fitzgerald, Morrison, etc.
It sucks that you have the Microsoft software, but in the Midwest, Comcast loads their own software (I believe, definitely not Microsoft's) that is pretty usable. It's not horrible but I know it's not Tivo standard. But then again, I pay just a few dollars a months to rent it and I get a dual-HD tuner out of the box.
Or seriously something similar to that. They complain they have tons of text to go through, but what does the amount of text have to do with the size of the font? Cereal Capcom, what a cop out.
This is a good idea, but many "spammers" are actually home computers in the US or Europe taken over by a trojan and used in a bot-net to do what master spammer wants. This may not be as prevalent in spamming blogs as it is spamming inboxes at the moment, but nobody knows the real numbers.
I've seen a few episodes here and there and got dragge to the movie when it opened last year. I think I'll set my DVR to record them all and watch them at my leisure. Just because I haven't seen them yet doesn't mean I never want to.

This is a great idea! I've seen way too many Russian-accented actors out on the street because all the terrorist roles are full.

Even posting as a coward doesn't protect you from not checking sources and looking stupid.
Just curious in how much that cost you? I haven't built a machine in almost five years now and I'm looking for an upgrade.

Well my DVR does 1800x!
I just press one button and I skip the whole 30 minute program!

For a second there, I thought it was Tuesday.

Or you could just stick with Windows XP as it seems to have the tools you like. It's not like Microsoft is going to suddenly stop supporting XP.
