I started out with Linux back at the 0.99 release time. I've been using it ever since, until after the updates for Gnome and KDE sucked. It's pretty bad when someone that hates Windows actually purchases a oem version and installs it on a new build. Honestly I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they did all this UI fubar.
Thankfully Bodhi Linux http://www.bodhilinux.com/ came around. It's still a bit rough around the edges, but I can live with it. E17 based, and just a user that is happy.
I really used to enjoy going into a Radio Shack store and check out all the different parts and build stuff. Then, they zapped it all, turning it into a cell phone / crap place. I've managed to find a few of their stores that still have managers that give a *hit an still carry resisters an such, but it's rare.
I haven't been in one of their stores since like 2002, and that was cause they had ladder line for antenna's.
Impress me Radio Shack, and carry all the stuff you used to.. and you'll get me to visit again.
I really don't know why this is set as flamebait, some ppl actually do have real issues with a debian install.. given all the confusing d/l options available, along with lax luster support for wifi drivers and such.
Seriously, I pay for most things in cash.. minus a few online payments.
People actually look at you as rather odd that your paying for stuff in cash, and then check the money you handed them to see if it's fake or not. Honestly, it's rather insulting.. and screw um. I don't spend more than what I have, nor do I charge shit.. or, spend money I don't have.
This isn't really new to any company that has been around a long time. As a example, I bought a Everex laptop that I did a ton of research on, only to get burned by the dreaded Nvidia 8600 something chipset, which overheated. Guess what, the damn thing lasted a tad over the 1 year warranty.
Everex used to be a solid company back in the day, my buddy had a 286 that ran forever.. he just got sick of moving the damn thing around. Looks like they are now out of business, and they deserve it for cutting corners and going from quality to crap. Dell will face the same fate.
The only place I've ever seen LED light bulbs is at http://www.ccrane.com/lights/led-light-bulbs/. Not associated with this company at all, they just send me a catalog every now and then. I'd definitely be interested in these, but the cost is still to high.
Stupid moderators are at it again. How the hell can the parent be marked "Redundant" when NONE of the above comments even mentioned what he said. Someone needs their mod points revoked.
This was a god send to me back when I ran my bbs. Task switching at it's finest, err.. at least for us dos types. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DESQview
Just from my personal experience with Charter.. in our area I had their 5MB down service and it sucked bad. I was getting just a tad above 56k modem speeds most times and I called support and lucky me, I wandered into a bunch of script reading droids in India. I got so pissed off, when I went and paid the bill I brought the modem with me and told them I canceled, for good.
I have AT&T DSL service now and I've been happy. (about 4 blocks from the switching office)
Personally they'll never be able to offer that fast of service here.
Mod the parent up. Seriously. So what if he is an Anonymous Coward. frick'in stupid moderators.:P
What is so wrong paying cash? For example, I have a AT&T dsl account that I'm "suppose" to have a CC attached to it for payment. Wtf? Why should I have to go through these loopholes to pay my bill?
Do I have options to pay the account locally? Yes, I finally found that out. Automated payments are evil, end of story. When has it became so evil to pay by cash? If I can't have a option to pay by cash, without loopholes then said companies need to be sued, period. Oh, and I'm billed a month ahead of my usage. Nice.....
I continue to be astonished by how people consider getting rich off of digital downloads to be at all a good thing. I respectfully submit that anyone who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars for a few months of work "in their spare time" is being grossly overpaid. And when you really think about it, paying any price for a digital download is simply price gouging anyway, since the cost of reproduction is zero. That means at $5, Trism is marked up 500 times. No wonder he got so rich, huh?
Really, so the guy/gal made some money off a game that people bought? No big deal to see here. Maybe your just pissed off cause you didn't think of it first? Lame.
so the only thing modchips are good for are "backups", which - let's face it - are an excuse to run pirated games...
Personally, I have kids that might trash a game cd, so I can't make a backup from something I've already purchased? That's just wrong. In other words, I should go spend another $50 on the same thing?
First off, I'm a AT&T DSL customer. Between me downloading Linux updates and releases to try, playing my online game, the kids using their computer to watch videos, hula and the PS3 this is going to suck if they do this here.
I sent them a email that basically said I'll either have to drop my service with them, or update to a business account. (yeah, that was a ultimatum.. sigh) Thing is, our cable company here sucks balls compared to AT&T DSL, so I really don't have much of a choice. Ugh... they truly are still evil.
Well, at least Germany had the balls to stand up to Microsoft and actually go with the GNU/Linux solutions vs most other countries and corporations that just do this to get a discount from Microsoft. Here's a good quote from the article:
The conversation between Ude and Ballmer was confidential, but anyone who knows the Microsoft CEO can guess how it went. Let us say negotiation is not his forte. Ballmer is no more designed for the art of persuasion than the Abrams tank is for delivering meals on wheels.

This really shouldn't be moderated as Flamebait, it's true of all of the politicians.
I ain't ever buying anything Sony again, so it doesn't matter.

News for Nerds? Ya, this is just another example of crap that shouldn't be on this website.
I've been using this that long? (or close) Congrats Linus, and to all the others that have made this a great OS.
Leave it to France to not have a clue again.

What is so wrong about that? Nothing at all.
Wasting mod points commenting on the obvious.
A new iPhone starts at $99, and a iPod touch starts at $229.
So why would you want to add iPhone capabilities to a iPod touch in the first place?

Wonders why a company that are located in Montana (area code 406) is using a South Dakota area code. (605)
And yes, both of those states only have one area code for the entire state.
Mod this up, it's true. Oh, and whomever modded this down.. I hope your computer dies a death of fire, or at the very least shocks your ass. ;)
Was a good time for sure, peace.
