Too all anime fans who like voice dubbing, F*ck you too! f*ck us??? god! i can't stand you pretentious arrogent otaku fanboy losers! animation is a VISUAL MEDIUM, when you have to read subtitles, you miss out on the animation and the artwork. there's nothing wrong with watching a good dub, Princess Mononoke and Cowboy Bebop both come to mind as examples of superb dubbing.
1) Micky Mouse is not going into the public domain. the earliest Mickey Mouse shorts would be going into public domain, not the character himself
2) extending copyrights is more evil than dumping toxins into drinking water? destroying local economies? exploiting slave-like and child labor to produce tennis shoes? profiting off of warmongering in the US and around the globe? yeah, that stuff's kinda bad... but trying to stop their IP from going into the public domain? THAT'S SO TEH EVIL!!!!!!1
it looks like this is going to discuss the western culture of superheroes, from Beowulf to Superman. An exploration of Manga would have to be looked at from Asian tradition, examining Japanese legends and folklore and comparing it something like Gundam or Akira would pretty cool, but beyond the scope of this conference
I checked out the site (your site?). I'd love to sue a spammer, but where do I start? Alot of the legal info is very confusing for someone like me. Do I just go to a lawyer and say "i'd like to sue Spammer X under law Y"? do i need a lawyer at all? How does one get started?
Halo's a very different story. Those movies were more about man vs nature, in that the enemies were swarms of unthinking, unstoppable insects. (well, there was a kind "group intelligence" but it was very alien)
The primary enemies in Halo are the Covenant, a UN style group of aliens who have a religious mission to kill all humans and make way for their "great journey". The "unstoppable insect" enemy is the Flood, but its really more of a plot device and annoyance compared to the Covies.
Halo 2 even has a civil war break out within the Covenant and alternating levels have you playing as a alien hero on the side of the rebels.
did he ever get therapy after the death of his parents? yes, his therapist is Leslie Thompkins
raise a family to honor my parents why do you think he keeps taking in kids off the street? despite all the tired gay jokes, the Batman/Robin dynamic is really akin to Father/Son.
i wonder what the character will do when he's old. see, "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller, "Batman Beyond" by Bruce Timm, or "Kingdom Come" by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. its something that's been explored a bit
he's rich enoungh to hire an army he bankrolled a large chunk of the Justice League
that should satisfy his thurst for revenge & bloody justice he doesn't want "bloody" justice, Batman never takes a life (despite how the character is portrayed in those crappy 90's movies)
I know the parent is supposed to be funny, but its true! i've made passing comments to people at stores like this, or the computer book section of Barnes and Noble. Just things like "that's a good game" or "hey, i'm looking for a good SQL book too", and the floodgates are open! Its like some geeks are so starved for face-to-face geek interaction that they'll start droning on in excrutiating detail about whatever you said, as soon as they realize you might be "one of them". I've had to end so many conversations with a quick "well, it was nice talkin to ya, i gotta get going!".
It might be linked to Asperger's syndrome actually, i know that's come on/. before. My dad works with special ed kids, and he said that he has to work with the AS kids to not drone on reciting facts to people.
except that the games are about 10 bucks a pop! Namco Classics (Galaga, Dig Dug, and Pole Position) is 15 bucks, and you can't buy the games seperately
i downloaded a few demos, but the price was too high for the games, $2 would have been my limit for most of those
yeah, looks like that was more Gabe's opinion than Tycho's. i think they're just goofing on the idea that Will Wright is so revered that any concept he comes up with will be met with adjulation.
yeah, and then for the last level, the game designers would just give up trying and decide to out-weird the Evangelion game by having everything just disappear and nothing gets explained! then the game would start you back at level one with everything looking slightly different
Oh Morpheus is not deaaaaad Dead! oh no no no Morpheus is not dead
I got mad at Morpheuuuuus for screwin up the Matrix caperrrrr I hope i don't see his name in the paperrr in the o-bi-tu-aryyyyyyyyyy cuz that would be that he's dead!
well, the TV series will be set between III and IV, but no-one know what its about yet. I didn't think much happened until the rebellion starts a few years before ANH
there was a collection of parody mini-games called Star Warped that came out on cd-rom about 10 years ago, one of the activities was Star Wars as envisioned by diferent directors with cartoon images and recorded dialogue, Tarantino was included in the list. Jules as Luke and Vince as Han. Harvey Keitel as Vader. It was pretty funny.
How does Luke go from noisture farmer's son to ace pilot? no big mystery, Luke alludes to flying his "t-16" back home. in the garage scene, he's playing with a model of one, and i think you can see the real thing in the background. its just what you do when you live on a planet with huge expanses of desert and nothing to do on a friday night. George Lucas envisioned Luke's life before the war much like that of the kids in American Grafitti.
How does a senator's daughter become a princess? its a ceremonial title, Bail Organa is a member of the Royal Family of Alderaan, he used his fame to get him elected into the Galactic senate

from TFA:
Have you beefed up the system specs in the last year?
Bachus: We've widened the Lies Pipeline signifigantly, and upgraded the Chicanery Processing Unit to be 30% faster.

don't forget his heart condition
(does he still have that? i haven't read Iron Man in years)
its just crapflooding, its been happening about once a week for the past 3 weeks or so
that's why they added that "type the letters in the graphics box" form, but it doesn't look like its working very well
cool pictures, thanks! :)

there's really not much story here
