I hear news about coffee every month. We're obsessed with knowing whether or not it is good or bad for you, and people wasting their time figuring out "It may increase your chance of heart disease" and "It may help the war on Alzheimers" seem to be have been on a one lined broken record for the past 5 years.
If the obvious health affect, ill or not, aren't apparently evident (I.E. smoking); then relax, and tell the people that "anything in excess of 4 per day might be harmful to your death".
Yes, the rule of 4 keep me alive!
"NASA Warns of Cluttered Space"
- Who are they warning? Themselves?
"humans have been generating space junk"
- Erm, no Humans haven't - Nasa has.
I dont have a bin next to my recycle bin that says "space junk" guys.
I think what has happened is that the population has a greater awareness on spam detection and spam removal/blocking/avoidance.
Since I closed my HOTMAIL account in 2002 and switched to my own domain, I hardly ever receive SPAM - and if I do, it all gets filtered anyways.
Have the people finally become more educated?
Perhaps.
That, or the masses truly believe in miracle herbs.
As much as I would like to think that companies would stand up and do what they believe in; the fact of reality is.. they don't (well, most). They are concerned about profits, and anything that could potentially harm profits they shy away from.
Which is understandable. If you ran a company, why would you want to involve yourself in controversy? Irregardless if you personally think it's wrong or right. They are there to make money.
My point? They got their money elsewhere.
Good for them, so what's the issue here?
Who'd ever thunk of people browsing BOTH sites! I read both Digg.com and Slashdot.org; and I'm not leaving one for the other... I'm glad to have both new sites; both have positive, informative and enjoyable content.
Did the GPU just come to be??? Or Is it a product of Intelligent Design?????????
I'll have to check with my faith consultant before I buy this product.:)
A cardinal stating that "if the bible was read correctly one might see the similarities between Genesis and let's say darwinism" does not translate to "Intelligent design is false"... to me at least..
I do not see where anyone (besides the pot-stirrers) would get that idea from.
MAN do you ever have to be careful with what you say these days. It sick.
We already know Jean Chretien excersizes mind control over us Canadians; and I've been told... the rest of the world!!!
Pssst: Why do you think Canada didn't participate in the Iraq war? Because we fought from afar using our minds.. Silly Humans.:)
An alternative Mail client, such as MS's Outlook that comes packaged with Office.
Alternative to Outlook, I use Thunderbird; but for work.. it still isn't up to par. I rely (shudder) heavily on outlook's calendar and task system. It's good for what it does, but I'd rather have it all Open Office if possible.
Unless I'm missing something here.
It's been widely discussed whether or not Video Games contribute to silent destruction of our society (cough cough); and it has been discussed for; oh hell let's pin it at a good fifteen years now. (As far back as the date at which red pixels could be written using Qbasic only to be portrayed as blood splatters to be precise.)
And I'm not going to get into that.
Whether or not it becomes regulated by some prodigal facet of the Californian government or not, software is software; and as much as we church going suburbanites would like to see our children stay far far away from any type of negative influence (regardless of how pleasurable it may be).. kids will be kids and just download it anyways. Right? Just like hanging out at the local 7-11 waiting for some scruffy to buy you cigarettes; it's point and click and you can easily download the virus infected full blown.EXE for immediate enjoyment.
Tongue in cheek.
To make the frightened parents happy, I suppose a few things "could" change. (To keep happy those people who will take this into serious consideration when marking the X on their ballot slip..sigh)
Refer to this faq on ESRB's website. The point here that I've linked to could use some work I suppose. Revise the standards so that every game must be rated.. maybe build it into the industry standard publishing contract????
Then just blame the rest on the retailers if a restricted game is sold to a minor. That OR the parents. You know. Good 'ol family made rules.
I'd vote for the latter.

If you lived here, you'd know that: A. If this is passed, our taxes will increase. Probably shown as "Access Fee". A(1). This said tax will be taxed again 7% GST. B. The Canadian Government (defined); is capable of "passing" law, but in-capable of "enforcing" laws. Same with everything from election platform promises to general public funding. C. Oh, and... Hoser Defined I agree. It's a plot to monitor us Canadians downloading our copious amounts of Rush and Tragically Hip music.
