people like flash because it's popular, it looks good, and it's relatively easy to find developers to make things with it.
the alternative (javascript) is more of a pain in the ass to develop (and much harder to find good developers) for if you want to get the same audience reach that flash has.
you are definitely in the minority if you don't have a flash player installed.
you should check out the smart playlists in itunes... you can do some crazy powerfull stuff with 'em.
like my music collection is too big to fit on my ipod, so i'll make a smart playlist of all the most recently or highly rated files and limit it to 10-15gb, then sync that with my ipod...
then i'll make another smaller one of just stuff that i haven't listened to yet, or has a low play count, and sync that one - so i have a bunch of music i love, and a small collection of stuff i haven't listened to yet.
In testimony before the House of Representatives consumer protection subcommittee, FTC commissioners said they need the ability to secretly investigate those who send deceptive e-mail and more leeway to go after spammers who send their messages across international borders.
so what exactly is the definition of a spammer?
i could see this used against anyone that sends e-mail, just label them a 'spammer' and the FTC gets open doors?
IF they set up very clear(and accurate) rules of what a "spammer" is, then maybe. MAYBE.
This is not to say that the entire legal prof is a leech... only that legislation is abused for the sake of acquiring money that isn't legitimately earned.
not legitimately earned? you are assuming that people just magically "get" patents from no work on their part?
while i agree that stuff like this sucks, the majority of legal action is i'm sure defending legitimate patents / IP.
There's no "cheating" on Xbox live, which is why they banned modded boxes from the service.
actually, unreal championship has a few bugs:
unlimited TAG rifle ammo (the BFG of the game) invencibility (at the cost of not being able to shoot anyone) getting outside the maps/inside mountains/floating in the sky
the problem is that in unreal, you can't kick people.
Several pre-programmed and wired flies will be on hand in case of technical malfunction. Each fly will be cabled with a standardized electrical male/female plug end - an RJ45 (standard ethernet) connector. This will ideally allow for gallery staff to replace the fly.
i think you should say Too much BAD Flash animation.
as saying "all flash animation is bad" is like saying "all guns are bad*"
now i realize that guns don't kill people, it's the people using them. - the same thing can be said about flash. the people using it are to blame, not the software.
* i don't like guns and think they should all be banned, but that's just me
actually, i heard it through the grapevine that these releases are closer than you may think.
Flash 6 (mm_corp() has renamed all their new stuff to MX)-- Flash MX, DW MX, Fireworks MX should be out next month - and from what i know, they all run native in OSX

works out great.
but winamp 5 runs better on my old sony laptop
has nobody tried out winamp 5?
there are a few betas floating around... i think RC10 was just released last week...
it's pretty nice - apparently it was the lightweightedness of winamp 2 and the skin/cool stuff of winamp 3... 2+3=5, get it?
i was using it for a while and didn't find any bugs or anything...
on the other hand, winamp 3 was just a big pile of poo. crashing every other hour, and hogging all my precious memory.
that's pretty cool, but i'd love to see a football (soccer) game played with those things on...
maybe if you could tweak the settings so you could jump really high or something.
so crazy.
will he be making guns that shoot the robbers when they are pointed at police officers?

the graphs on the page show the download finishing at the same time.
one just appears to send way less data.
am i reading the graphs wrong?

but is it hot swappable?
i wonder how long it is until someone grabs a simple electric motor and hooks it up to the motion sensor on the bike.
bam! instant super bike!
here's a link that talks about how much the shuttle damages the ozone now:

> They're putting cookie-cutter pop radio stations (all called KISS-FM) in major markets.
Unfortunately, this is what sells these days. they wouldn't be doin it if it wasn't making money.
my big questions is this: when do we see the shift from clearchannel following the market to clearchannel shaping the market to their ideas?

Flash should be banned until there are useable free software implementations running in other platforms than Intel.

macromedia just released the beta linux v6 player if you are interested:

Microsoft Windows operating system
well we know nobody from /. will be riding them if they see it.
they'll be too scared of a blue screen while upside down.
well there has to be a market for these DVDs if there were that many people selling them.
also, if these people can't afford to watch the movie in the theater, how are they going to buy a DVD player and TV to watch them at home?
these DVDs (if they even exist, and isn't really another movie in LOTR packaging) are targeted at the tourists that can afford them.
you forgot about the dog with the implants sitting next to them intercepting everything.

it's all bout the remote control! you gotta get up and click on the computer, but with this you can just lounge around on the couch.
so it's really more like $700 for a remote control.
yaeh, my vote is for RAN (Residential Area Network)
much better than NAN
anyone have links to studies done on this?
how effective (+ or -) is spam?
it's the fla that is proprietary.. but i would expect that from any company...
