While I think it is extremely cool that we can now do this, I really hoped the genetics revolution wouldn't lead down this path. Obviously gene therapy and better medicine will be the true victories from our learning of ourselves. This is cool, but also a crappy by-product, if you ask me.

In the meantime, I think that money might be better spent on a psychiatrist for this woman. Death is a part of the life cycle - deal with it you loser. Death is nothing to be afraid of, nothing to be mourned for too long. It is the way things are, and you can't run from it forever. I shame someone that is so weak that they must do this - and pay a decent salary to do so in the meantime!

In short - welcome to the future, science is going to be doing some absolutely crazy things. And in all other news, many people are still pathetic losers.

It might have some of these small problems still, but it is still a better, more secure browser, despite the fact that I had to download it from DePaul.

Microsoft weenies are resorting to minor nitpicking. OK, we'll fix that. In the meantime, their entire PLATFORM is f'd from the ground up, and Mozilla's isn't.

I just finished reading Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene, and was thinking about some stuff like this. Note that I'm a computer engineer and don't know much about this stuff:

Evolution has worked for billions of years. I'd say it's worked out quite a few of its bugs. So why don't we copy it when doing computing? I think the book stated (VERY generally, I assume), that there are 4 bits that get used to build with DNA - A, T, C, and G... obviously this has advantages, so why are we using binary computers?

I don't get why we don't copy this in as many of our simulations as possible. It's obviously prevailed for a reason...

Terrible idea. Every time you make laws that restrict what people can do, you restrict business. You restrict movement, you restrict growth.

All that law would do is crush construction companies, which are a cornerstone in our economy.

I am all for using more renewable resources, but if it's undesirable and not cost-effective vs. petroleum, then you shouldn't force it.

Keep the legislation out of it. When the market tires of our upcoming $80 barrels of oil and has finally made solar cost effective (as another poster noted, we're getting close!), then it'll happen.

Otherwise, why would I want to be a house builder in California? Why would I want to buy a home in California if I have to install additional expensive stuff that won't get me my money back yet? I'd rather move elsewhere.
