Usually, when shit hits the fan (as in, firing 60% of your workforce), your operation is understaffed. The very first thing people start skipping is documentation. And that's true everywhere, not just IT.
McCain stuck to his guns in 2000, when the US was a different place politically. The neocons destroyed him in merciless attacks, and Bush won the nomination.
McCain flipflopped to the party line in 2008 to get those Neocons support. The problem is, I think he would have been nominated *despite* this, as most of the republican party was sick of the neocon/religious-right crap anyways.
Now he's got a problem. He'll lose the election if he stays too conservative and will be a ridiculous flip-flopper if he doesn't. It's too bad, because this could have been his year and I've been a big fan of his in the past. I think Obama has this in a landslide.
I'm not a lawyer, but I read all these rulings on Slashdot. From what I can gather, this judge made a reasonable ruling. He said "You're breaking the EULA and doing so in such a way that ruins the contractual relationship Blizzard has with its customers". Seems fair to me.
And when I read the comments, all I see is "OH NOES, I'm infringing on copywrite everytime I launch a program". I say this judge made a logical ruling, and maybe the judge in the next yro ruling will do the same?
Honestly. I loved that game because it was so unique. It had such a light-hearted feel to the action and made the prince a very likeable character. The second two had the boring "dark tormented hero" theme I've seen a thousand times.
Whether or not I buy this game will entire depend on the reviews of the story. If it's a unique feel I'm back in, otherwise, just another action/platformer IMO.
I agree, although have a slightly different opinion of why it is.
So many reasons I believe ebay is not going to continue to grow at its current pace:
1) Everyone already cleaned out their garage junk on ebay. 2) Diminishing quality control on products makes easy exchanges an important retailer feature (frys) 3) Used prices on ebay are just way too close to new prices. (what happened to half.com being half price?)
And, most importantly for me:
4) It's too freaking expensive. By the time you pay 10% to ebay, 10% to paypal(ebay), 20% to USPS, 10% to gas, selling that $40 item for $20 in "profit" just wasn't worth the hour of your time. There's businesses out there where you can drop off your product and they'll take care of all the hassle for you, but then is giving up your $40 item for only $3 or $4 even worth it?
It's not just the $40 items either. I look at ebay and the cheapest (barely used) macs I can find are only 5-10% off getting a brand new one at Fry's. I haven't used ebay in a long time because their listings, fees, and policies suck. Maybe that's why they are going with Buy.com stuff; they know it.
IT People say: "Stupid Finance doesn't see the savings from investing in IT"
So, finance invests in IT in a project for $3M thats supposed to generate $5M in savings. Then, a year later, IT people leave, new people arrive and demand the system be upgraded for $3M more.

You have a game idea you've put (some) hard work into since the Atari days. You finally get it released.... And since you cheated, all people will ever remember is that you're crooks and your game is a fraud.
I feel sorry for the people who worked hard on the game and had no idea someone was doing this.
People love working for Google, but my friends there tell me they work 70+ hrs/week. People like working for Yahoo, but my friends there tell me they work 60+ hrs/week. People tell me they love working for Apple, because they only work 50hrs/week.
Maybe the salaries reflect that? Maybe the salary difference between Yahoo/Apple reflects the relative financial positions of the company? Maybe the salary differences have to do with Cupertino vs Mountain View cost of living? Maybe Apple employees have made buttloads of stock and HR doesn't need to pay them $20k more because they're making $50k each year in restricted stock that's vesting? Maybe Apple gives 30% bonuses and the others don't?
I don't know, you tell me. I know Salary vs Salary is normally a weak comparison.
Because there's a whole lot of idle CPU cycles out there, and it's a lot faster and cheaper for people to render things on their desktop rather than have your server crunch and send it back through the web.
What made the first so great was the voice acting and lighthearted humor. The darker tone of the 2nd and 3rd was not nearly as good.
PoP SoT was easily one of the top 15 games I've ever played. The other two were boring, forgettable adventures.
Everything else this government does is simply meddling in the private consensual affairs of citizens or usurping the powers of local governments to set policies best suited to local culture and tradition.
Not insightful. Capitalism is great, but without government regulation we'd all be pretty boned. How the government regulates (and encourages) business, the economy, and quality of life is a major factor in my voting.
I agree with your overall point, but there is a difference between lies and bias. Example:
Truth: Joe went to the store to buy milk. Bias #1: Joe, once again being the dutiful husband, went to the store to get some milk. Bias #2: Joe, once again leaving his wife home alone with the child, went to the store to get some milk.
See the difference?

Yes, but the commercial version would have been out 8 years ago and released 2.0 7 years ago. YMMV.

Reward: Takes less people and less time to count the votes.
Risk: The procedure is inaccurate.
Risk2: Fraud is very difficult to detect.
Given how trivial #1 is, how likely #2 is, and how many people want to attempt #3... why are we using these things again?
Maybe people should have considered that the AMD processor that was faster & cheaper wasn't leaving enough $ to invest in future R&D?
Here's my take:

The difference is that the Exec can go to the competition and adjust their strategies to perform better.... legally.
The IT admin can hold your system hostage... illegally.
Oh you're right. Companies should assume their IT workers are criminals. Wait what?

No, they were just the most annoying with it. They asked you to pay to unlock content ALREADY ON THE DVD. Sorry for caps. Im still annoyed with that.
Figure out the trajectory of a disc amid of two round objects in a rectangular space isn't exactly amazing technology.

Previously, the iPhone was $400.
Now, the iPhone is $200 + $175 termination fee.
It's cheaper now than it was before and has GPS/3g goodness. I don't get all the complaints.

Hmmm.. so if you're a dissident in China, they can now easily check if you have working Kidneys for sale?
"All vacation is canceled you cant take vacation after you give notice, you also forfeit all vacation and sick time accrued."
I'm pretty sure US labor laws require you to be paid your accrued vacation. I smell BS.
Because the media loves Apple again, and Apple won't try and change that.
There's plenty of non-similar ones. You probably just laughed at those though.
