Actually Apple does participate in limited price drops and rebates. They just don't make it their marketing gimmick. They just hide it somewhere on their site in a block of text that it's happeningI picked up my Dual Core Macbook, and a 30GB iPod video right before Apple dropped the price of the 30GB iPod Video from $300 to $250.. Price was dropped $100 on the Macbook, and got a $150 rebate on the iPod since it was bought with the Macbook (plus a student discount). Zero problems getting the rebate since everything was bought at an Apple Store, and the rebate was sent to Apple's main offices. Even picked up the Intel rebate that came about a couple months later related to Dual Core notebooks without issue.

Rebates have two purposes. One, they don't lose any money really on these (few really send them in on time, and correctly), and if someone is buying one of these rebate items they rip the UPC code off right away. Once you rip your UPC code off it's extremely hard to return it. Making sure customers can only exchange if defective seems like a pretty good reason unto itself to do a $10-$20 rebate for a $60 HD.

The thing is that this law will mean dick. Sure, they "will" hire you without the tag, but they'll offer you 50 cents more an hour if you will submit to the tagging. The kind of people this will be targeted at will have to take them up on it. Sadly the only people who will condone tagging is those who sell it, those who administer it (whos gona watch the watcher?), and those high enough up to where they sure as hell will never be subjected to it. One more reason I enjoy working for startups. No money in the budget for crazy shit like this.

Also theres a multitude of rechargeable setups for the iPod you can just a AA or 2 into for quite a bit more playtime. Even 7-11 where I am stocks them. But I'll stick to my better looking device that gives me little trouble while your swapping out disposable AAs in your thick player, adding to the landfills because you can't figure out how to plug your DAP into the charger at night.

Really? More hardware every day supports AAC out of the box, and quite a bit can be made to work with it. Hell my Nokia N95 plays AAC phenomenally. Allot of cellphone manufacturers are behind AAC. Hell you can even make Windows Mobile phones play AAC files (I think new ones come with support out of the box actually). It costs nothing extra in licensing to add AAC support to a device. MP3 on the other hand does cost to have support for it. Now other DAPs is another case entirely. They want to bitch Apple doesn't support their device so very few will never add AAC support out of stubbornness. Bitch at the manufacturers for neutering their product, and limiting your choices, not the one that wants to give you a choice.

Please pull your head out of your ass. Hate Apple all you want, but the format is solid. It's obvious you haven't evne used iTunes for more than 5 minutes also otherwise you'd know a simple setting change is all it takes to have iTunes rip MP3 instead of AAC.

Did you just hold the Crusades & Mother Theresa up as a good example of the faith? The crusades were a bloody holy war that while they did cause some good they were motivated by their desire to recapture some land (the means did not justify the end-game). Which is still the main problem in the Middle East today. On the subject of Mother Theres: She was a horrible individual who setup her hospitals "for the dying" (read the name! they weren't there to HELP anyone) purely for the purpose of watching people die. No attempts to generally make their death easier, not to mention help them get well other than a cot, water, and bread (usually just prolonged their suffering). She felt that watching people die a horrible agonizing death helped her to get closer to god somehow. How she got people to give her money for these places, Nobel Peace Prize, and not to mention nearing sainthood is beyond me.

Watching someone die in agony you could mitigate, or fix is the same as doing harm.

Hey, at least it isn't DirecWay (or whatever they call themselves these days). I just got a client off of their services due to them clamping down HARD on bandiwth limits (Cable & DSL don't reach them). 375MB transfer PER day is allowed. If you go over that, the next 24 hours your stuck with 3KB down. If you download too much during that period they nock you off for a day or two entirely. It's something they started doing 3 or 4 months ago. Another case of a provider overselling, and not delivering. My client now has a Sprint EV-DO USB adapter. Same price, lower max (burst) speed, lower latency, and just works a hell of allot better. Sprint is a pain in the ass, but their limits are FAR higher than what a real estate agent will ever use.

I can't wait for the day Cox pisses at me over doing 300GB+ a month on my connection though. It's a more pricey business account, but I know they'll do it eventually.

When it finds the right way to act like it's part of the body to the immune system it's kind of a bitch to kill off. Easier to just poison someone. Plus this would require a fairly advanced lab.
