Time spent on a such a dumbassed idea, pissed off customers, lawsuits when they fail to filter, lawsuits for filtering the wrong content, etc. This makes beyond no sense.

Just one more reason for me to keep looking for greener pastures elsewhere in the world. Sad thing is on my trip to China I just got back from that it's more competitive with it's own consumers than the US is with it's own. Stop "thinking" those countries don't want those defense weapons, and do some damn research on your own instead of guessing what you want the truth to be (or I dunno, use some critical thinking). It's what continually fucks up history. People who just believe what they want to believe. The US can't FORCE a country to take those defense systems (unless they are occupying). They have to actually want them to be installed. Surprise surprise, both Czech, and Poland's government want the systems installed. It's their sovereign territory afterall. Only people really bitching about the installation are those extremely small cluster of inhabitants around the installation's proposed location. To make the matter more interesting the Communist Party in the region is running a propaganda campaign. No wonder the people are bitching about it.

I'm from the US personally, and have my own hatred for the country (currently in Hong Kong), but all of this is boiling down to the US wanting to protect itself, and others from unknown rouge groups from firing small amounts of hostilities at ourselves, and others just because we are free in our political, and religious beliefs. This system would drop at most 10 of the 1000s of missiles the Soviets have. On the other side you have a government official who needs a distraction from more important issues (hey not only the US does that!).

As much as I hate the military industrial complex we all having going, I would certainly love to see how the world would keep itself stable if the US really minded it's own business, and pulled out of all military installations that are not on it's own soil. So many countries would be utterly screwed, and thrown back into old, and completely fucking stupid conflicts (not to mention unleash current monsters it mostly keeps caged in their own country) without the looming giant known as the US military who is happy to put it's nose where it may or may not belong. I'll take a well meaning, dumb brute behind me any day over an obviously insane dictator next door with delusions of grandeur, and genocide. The systems not perfect, but if you have a better solution, please do run for office wherever you live. People are open to suggestions!

Never seen an artist emerge, never seen a programmer, nothing has ever come out of test. How I got my foot in the door? I interned for bout 4-5 months in the marketing department doing design-work. Even when I was just a lowly intern NOT getting paid I was more highly regarded.

The way it works anywhere is you have to talk to people. People in QA have virtually no reason to talk to anyone in the company outside of QA. Due to that, anyone you talk to instantly takes the notion that you want something (too many hopefuls, and not enough talent). Hell even when I was an intern people in QA thought I could help them go elsewhere in the company. If people have that delusion that QA will help them get into the industry though, I say by all means! I sure as hell won't ever work QA. Wow, you had me until you mentioned the dev kit is small enough to put on every developers desk as a reason devs like them (Wii devkits are smaller still I believe). Thats the last thing devs care about. It's more the high cost per dev kit devs care about. Nintendo initially was giving out Dev kits for nothin, and the price for them now is at MOST $1,750. Just for contrast, the PSP dev kit is a bit over $4,000, original PS2 Dev kit was $18,000, original Xbox was just a little under that, and current dev kits can't be too far off with the current gen systems. This is an instance that just upgrading previous gen technology is very worth it.

Please, pull your head out of the sand fanboy. Wii Devkits are dirt cheap (less than two weeks of employing a dev), and anyone who ever coded for a Gamecube knows allot about the Wii by default. Can't even begin to stay that about the 360, or PS3.

I buy a crapload of games, and the last game I picked up for the Wii before Super Paper Mario came out for the Wii was Elebits when it came out (Virtual Console games not counted). Thats a pretty fucking long lull any, and every developer *cough* EA *cough* should have jumped on. Too bad none of them had the brains to realize what was going on at the last E3, and are bitching now that they have to play catchup, or bitch when their game thats just a port doesn't sell like Super Paper Mario (Prince of Persia).

And one more thing. Who cares if they have to sit next to a Nintendo title? They are competing with them if they are on a Nintendo console or not. If they choose not to go for the Wii they risk developing for systems that are by & large have less interest (360s barely selling more at this point because it has a year head-start), and cost far more to develop for. At least if your game is directly next to a Nintendo title it's likely getting a whole lot more potential buyer eyeballs looking at it than if it had been on the other systems right now.

Wow, a pirate that thinks he knows jack about how handheld carts work. Most of the DS flash carts use very slow read, but quick writing flash cards. Older GBA carts utilize higher quality (almost on par with what Nintendo uses) memory. Thats why if you have a lower quality GBA cart (ones made for DS games), the game would actually crash. It's expecting to stream all content on the fly, and if one piece isn't there when it's expected the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. Now with the DS it had the same problem initially until flash cart makers got the bright idea to drop some code in that would allow the game to stream, yet not freak out when things got too slow (you can't avoid it short of going with a non-removeable flash memory cart). Just like any other cart based system, both systems stream artwork, and other data on the fly as needed when the memory is full. When you have that kind of setup, your needs for expensive battery sucking memory goes down sharply. Ever notice how a flash cart has considerably less play time than a legitimate cart?
