I thought it was proved when the home movie was finally released showing the driver getting hit, that there was a 2nd gunman.
Or is that damn Magic bullet bullshit true? Bounces around like ping pong ball. Hey, even snopes.com doesnt explain that urban legend.
Anyone find it funny the most common job on there is Nursing? The nursing role has changed from working with patients to Medical Assistants. They hire 10-15 MA's to 1 Nurse in most clinics. And then to top it off, they dont pay the Nurses for the years in school, and hard work, and they get no respect for managing the MA's ontop of normal nurses duties.
What a shame.
In our Internet-based summons for readers to top (bottom?) last year's "Worst Jobs" list, nurses nominated themselves in droves: "Still a no-respect profession. Doctors treat you like slaves." "The pay is substandard for all the training." "Just look at the current shortage." Indeed, the government estimates that we're short 110,000 nurses, and that by 2008 we'll need half a million more.
Numerous studies echo the dissatisfaction of our nurse readers. Nurses are fleeing the profession because of stress, long hours, low pay and lack of advancement opportunities. The cost? A recent University of Pennsylvania study found that surgical patients at hospitals with the worst nurse-staffing levels (ergo the most overworked nurses) have a 31 percent greater chance of dying. If this trend doesn't improve, we might soon find "patient" topping our list.
Lets not forget about the link between organized crime and the unions.
Whoa, and lets not forget Enron, Worldcom and all the people who lost their 401K's, retirement funds, jobs and homes! There is crime everywhere, don't accuse Unions as criminal.
The union is needed when laws don't exist. Lucky we have laws for most, but with the trend of reclassifying everyone to bypass OT and ending minimum wage, the union starts looking attractive again.
We are lucky in the USA, where we can form a union, unite for a common good. We fought hard for these rights, against police abuse, corrupt government officials, and the threat of death. Many people have died for our right to have Unions.
Unions have started to disappear in a flourishing economy, true.
But now that jobs are being outsourced, lower pay, increased hours, lowered health care benefits or none, no job security why shouldn't they unionize?
BTW, there is a reason there are Police unions, Firefighters Unions, Nurses Unions, etc, most of the blue collar work force. They understand they need simple protections. Why doest the common IT worker, programmer, tech-support, call center, repair man?

Actually that is not true. This a flawed argument companies use, that the employee has all the power, they can leave and go else where.
The truth is, the company must follow working conditions set by law. And the laws are made by the people to stop abusive working conditions.
The major problem, is the young generation of today don't look at the long term problems of the working environment. Companies have to give back to the society they take resources from. We (The people) build schools and infrastructure so companies can flourish, not so companies can pillage. We are trying to better ourselves at home, while competing in the global market. When a company starts abusing the efforts they need to be brought out in public so people can discuss and the solutions be proposed.
I find it funny when people think companies have no responsibility to the community they work in. If they dont want to play by the rules, they dont need to be in business. Some other company will step in and fill its role.
Really the wrong view to the problem, its not the employee that has the problem, its the company. And the company needs to address it.

Umm, you work at mcdonalds/walmart while you goto school, you dont make that your career.

re: long hours. So what? The author of this article obviously doesn't know that there are waiters and painters and salespeople working similar hours and making less than $30K with no benefits whatsoever.
They dont give stock options for low paid programmers. They dont get any of the stuff a.dot com gets, except the hours.
And as for Hardwork, journeymen workers make better than 60K with OT. Dont use the fast food industry, the starting jobs as the end all of jobs. I use my phone for making phone calls, not watching movies. How many people do YOU know who need "multi-media applications" on a phone?
Humm, I was watching real-tv news on my phone at lunch while I waited for my meal, also watched the news in a waiting room this week.
During my boss's meeting I was browsing CNN news and local news.
I did it, because I could. I also have SMS pages, and email pictures I take on the phone.
Connect via Bluetooth for my wireless headset.
Depends on your job, but the phone also has video conferencing so I can see servers and cable wiring remotely, comes in handy when we have smart hands (techs working on misc hardware).
I use it, most people at my work use it. OF course I work for a telco, and we have lots of cool phones.;)
I have a big family, and food is a major monthly bill. If I can save 100-200 dollars a month by using a store card, guess what, I will.
I'm one of those "Evil" customers, I value shop. I buy on sale, buy the 2 for 1 sales, and never by name brands, unless its in bulk. Costco gives you money back on the excutive account, more than the cost of the account, so its worth it to shop there for bulk items.
I was in a little discussion about shopping with a co-worker, after a few minutes here is what we he said about shopping and my answers.
* Shopping all over takes time. I shop at 3 stores, Costco for most stuff, Safeway and the local corner market. The corner market always sell milk for 1.99 the local markets dont. Costco has 2 for 3.50, but longer lines, so during the week, the basics are the local stores and the quicky market.
I found our markets in best prices in prices as Costco, Safeway, Albertsons, QFC and Fred Myers tie. This is my local area, in other areas I noticed Albertsons and Fredmyers are cheaper. So it depends on where you live. The area is has lots of Safeway generic product producers, (Dairygold, etc), so icecream is cheaper.
Safeway comes out ahead with sales alone, but if you use the membershipcard you 10-20% if you shop right. 2 for 1 prices, and discount's are amazing.
* Brand names over generics This is tricky, on sale items most are brand names. But normally, stuff like bagged cereal are much cheaper, and with a club card even less. 2 for 3.50, 16 ounce bags is better than a 24 ounce box for 4 bux. And if they have the 32 ounce bags for 3.99 thats even better. Store brands are also very high quality, you buy store meat/milk/wheat/product products, why not store boxed goods?
I dont see the reason for people to give up 10-20% savings because they wont use a club card, and then complain about privacy then still rent videos at blockbuster, have multiple accounts with other merchants.
Would you give up 20% of your pay to feel secure, but not be secure? National ID's are like this, its just a false sense of security. The 9-11 terrorists had real ID's. They didnt fake a thing.

Not sure how many other online servers that offer free service after you start. But you must pay if you want to own land, or belong to a group that owns land.

Don't forget, that the votes being thrown out can still be claimed. But since people don't know their vote was thrown out there is no normal way of contacting them.

No paper trail, too short of time to count votes, machines that don't work, processes that don't work, human error and fraud.
This is why everyone is pissed off, we know votes are being tampered with. Every time you do a recount, the vote count CHANGES!

Oh look, Ohio had some fraud, couldnt happen in our state. Pffft.
I'd argue with the OGO having a worse keyboard, its actually bigger and easier to use.
Sidekick is limited to Tmobile, which limits your roaming areas. Cingular (And aquired ATT Wireless) has the largest roaming (no charge) network in the USA.;)
SSH isnt free for the Sidekick, so no, dont go there.;)

Also, the Ogo has a bigger screen, more colors (4K),longer battery life, every IM, and a cheapest SMS rate (Again Cingular has the cheapest SMS rate compared to Tmobile/Verizon)

But then, I like the SKII also, I just like to know all the facts, not just Hype.
Youre not really comparing the 3590 to the SKII or OGO are you? Otay, yes your thumbboardless is cheaper... Aha.
As for your comments on GSM/GPRS, you don't know how it works do you. We enabled full roaming already, and yes, with both network it is bigger than Verizon. But hey, if you want to use "Future", we have UMTS which is the standard. And those GSM phones work more places in the world than Verizon. Verizon has to get "World phones" that work in the UK. You can take any GSM phone and it will work in the UK...
OMG and I said 2 way SMS for cheap, you cant get 2 way SMS pagers for 30 bux even off Ebay, nice try.
SKII is locked into Tmobile for now, and then you get all those nice roaming charges. But goodie 4 you.
Check the facts before you try to comment with the big boys.
It's funny, ATT Wireless had the option to carry the sidekick, but some stupid marketing folks thought it would be a bad idea. I'm not sure if it was because of the OGO, or afraid of pissing off Blackberry. But the Sidekick is one slick little device.
Myself, Im using an UMTS Motorola A845, mostly for USB tethered for my laptop. When I want SSH, why settle for anything less than Putty or Konsole.:)
Ya, Tmobile side kick is great, but not everything is rosey. The keyboard is smaller than the OGO, its heavier. And a monthly contract will 2x-3x the cost of OGO a month if you just use IM.
OGO also has bluetooth, turned off now, but ATT wireless said they would turn it on at a later date. Not sure why, prob new devices.
Yes, and reading the article maybe you missed a few things.
1. Its the cheapest all purpose IM with Email/SMS on the market. 2. Cingular+ATT merged, you have the largest SMS coverage in the USA. 3. It's a IM only device, which means its in Data mode all the time. Compare 30+ hours of data mode Sidekicks 4 hours of data time. 4. PC Magazine states its PERFECT for IM, but not great for Email. Its marketed as an IM device with Email too. So, think of getting email also, not that Email sux0rs. 5. Bluetooth is turned off, but guess what, they can enable it later. 6. Its cheap for SMS, cheap as a pager, but its 2way.
Ive seen the device, its light, works good, nice keypad. Now I would of liked a browser, ssh, IRC and a phone. But then, im sure it wouldnt sell for sub 99 bux with a contract.
Ya, 2/5 because they rated it against a phone. It's not a phone, not a impressive review.
Its like telling Ford telling Goodyear that all tires will be 18 inch rims from now on. After Goodyear starts making 18 inch tires, Ford comes out with 21 inch rims and their own tire company.
Then to top it off, they force all dealerships to only sell Ford tires after Goodyear has the new product.
How much more anti-competitive can you get? They forced companies out of business with contracts, false information, and lies. It is business, but they crossed the lines into Anti-competitive territory.
G4 shows are unbelieveably bad. The even started putting sports in the start of TSS. Lucky they dropped that this week.
I knew G4 was going to fuck over the shows from TechTV. 3 of my favorite shows are gone, and now they kick Yoshi and Martin! (No more girls gone web?!)
Main reason I got a Tivo was for Techlive and TSS, techlive is gone, TSS is having issues. WTF is with this Webcam giveaway? You only have 40 minutes for tech news, give up the prizes, its not a damn game show.
I shouldnt expect a good tv show to last anymore, seems some new president or owner comes along and starts cutting shows, since they know whats best...
I pay extra each month for G4/TechTV, that might change...
Also G4 is deleteing threads on its forums, so dont bother posting about how they suck.
If I had been buying stock options over the last 6 years at my work, I'd be loosing money. The merger is buying at 15 dollars, so when our stock was over 15, 80% of the time, where is the profit?
If started buying stock the last 2 years when it was at 5-10 dollars, id be making a profit. So, the new people made money, the long term employees have lost money.
Also, as for a yearly bonus, I have mixed feelings. The company uses bonuses as carrots, they inflate your pay, but you loose it when the company has poor performance. You work 100 hour weeks and can still loose your bonus. They use the bonus as a carrot and a stick.
As for options, hell, Id owe money if I bought them.
Why should we ignore the flaws? Shouldnt we explore them, correct them, and make them more secure? If the machines have a proven track record of flaws in state level elections, why would we expect them to work for federal elections?
Lincoln once said, the ballot over the bullet. I think hes right, if people don't think their ballots are being counted, then people might be voting with bullets.
Personally, I don't trust the companies that can't be held accountable. Voting machines vendors have no accountability. (Pun intended) If private watchgroups say they are flawed, and the flaw is exploited, who pays?
I just want to know, did they get hacked or was it just software errors. Dont hide the facts. After the facts come out, then you can figure out how to deal with them.

Despite their flaws[snip]
