Actually, microsoft supported non intel before. Anyone remember the DEC Alpha chips? There was an NT flavor for that. It ran faster then the intel chips of the day.
It would not surprise me that in an microsoft lab there was windows for power PC, windows for ARM, windows for . It would be in microsoft's best interests to have them.
If you are trying to get as much money as possible which would you do:
A)Write a program to get control of 90%+ of computers in the world
B)Write a program to get control of 3-5% of the computer in the world
Why would people trying to make money even go after the smaller amount of computers? Plus a lot of people hate microsoft. Any company that is against mocrosoft they will leave alone.
By the way, if OSX is so secure why am I rebuilding OSX machines at work since those machines are actively attacking other machine in the network? The user is not a hacker or programmer. OSX has exploits. The easiest way to get them installed is to prompt the OSX user to enter in their password. Which is exactly how these OSX machines got hacked. The user just went to a website, the prompt popped up to enter in their OSX password. The users just entered in their password since "OSX has no virues, OSX is safe". That way of thinking has to stop.
An odometer reading is taken every time you get your car inspected. It was for me in NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, and VA. I cannot speak for other states but for those states a reading was taken. But when the reading was taken varies. NY, NJ, and VA were every year at the safety inspection. DE it was when the car was up for inspection. That was once in 5 years for a new car, then once again 3 years after that. So two times in 8 years for DE. MD it is when you register the car and get that one inspection. In MD you get an inspection once for as long as you own that car.
The state car inspection rules are all over the place. Maybe the government should step in and set rules to fix this?
A cup (big enough for the shower head to fit in) full of bleach should do the trick. Fill cup with bleach, submerse shower head in cup. If you can take the shower head off it might be easier then holding the cup to the shower head. Wait a little while with the shower head in the bleach. No more stuff in shower head*.
* this also might harm the shower head. Some metals do not like bleach.
The lag time on that net access might hinder you from streaming movies/music and playing any online games. Then again if was with those two ladies alone on a trip to Mars, streaming music/movies, and online games would be the last thin on my mind.
More important question though: We you fixed before going? Or are you planning to populate Mars with your children?
So a note, a bathtub full of water, and a box jellyfish (or that other tiny related one)?
Some people want to die for various reasons. Some do not want a long drawn out death. Some want to escape from something. Should society help those who want to die? I would vote yes but it depends on the situation. If the person is dying of cancer, or some other incurable disease and they want to die. Then they should be allowed to die peacefully. If the person just wants an escape, no. Life is often cruel. Part of life is overcoming obstacles.
At an old job we were told the only way to get a new monitor was if the old one broke. The new monitors were 17 or 19 inches while the old ones were 15 inches. I had just bought a number 9 imagine 8 MB video card (it was good back in 1996 even though it is nothing today). Install the video card, load up correct drivers. And look at all the options we now have. It was strange how every 15 inch monitor broke one after the other. A few even set of the smoke alarm.
Many teachers ARE paid over the summer. In VA and MD (my sister is a teacher who worked in both states) teachers are given a choice of a 12 month or 10 month pay cycle. The 10 month pay cycle do not get paid over the summer while the 12 month does. Most people take the 12 month cycle so they can plan their bills accordingly. Since the school administrators are in the school over the summer, I would say they are getting paid as well.
This looks like a case of someone forgot to test something. A full load test should have been done. I remember getting my school schedule the first full week of August. Why was this issue not known a few weeks or a month ago?
Venezuela is not Mexico. You have to cross the Panama canal, and few other countries to get to the US from Venezuela. One even goes from South America to North America.
Many server motherboards have more then 4 RAM slots. Many DDR3 desktop motherboards have 6 RAM slots. But it is not uncommon for server motherboards to have 12 or more RAM slots. Can one get 64 GB of RAM with 6 RAM slots? Sure, we can even do it with 4 RAM slots if you can get 16 GB RAM modules. Most people do not do that. And most regular people have no need for 32GB or 64GB of RAM in their desktop. Vista jokes aside, 64GB of RAM should really be in the for servers not desktops. That can be the thinking behind the 4GB of RAM limit for 32 bit desktop operating systems. Most people who use them will not have a need for more then that.
Also when the 4GB of RAM limit was set, RAM was really expensive. RAM prices have dropped a lot over the years. While having 4GB of RAM today can be commonplace, that was not the case 10 years ago.
Oare we talking notebooks or netbooks? Linux on my netbook had a lot more battery life then XP or OSX on the same netbook. Win 7 may beat it or be close. haven't fully tested it yet. It could also be that the SSD drive is liked more by Linux then XP for me.
But have others have said, are the power saving setting turned on? I thought those were turned off by default. Is it even a fair test? Are both machines the same? Both OS set to turn the same things off?
So you have done one update then? from 10.4 to 10.5
If 10.5 to 10.6 is a new operating system, change the main number already. Is Apple afraid that the new marketing campaign for the new OS will not be as good as the one for OSX is?
Last I tried MythTV one still need to pay for the TV listings. I found that a slap in the face.
Setting up MythTV, a snap. Setting up Mythbuntu, a snap. Having to pay for TV listings to use them, a pain. Since with many of the other software options, you do not have to pay for TV listings. Even the software that come with the capture card.
Do we have electrical generators that are as efficient a electric motors?
The coal, oil, gas, diesel, nuke power plants might not not 100% efficient from the fuel to electricity.
My main point is, if we can generate electricity with very little or no waste from the fuel source, that would be best. Solar, wind, wave action, geo thermal sources have little or no waste once the plants are set up. Not everywhere in the world is good for all of those sources. Everyone seems to be looking for the one size fits all answer. I always thought having more then one source was a good thing. So, use as many of the 'green' sources as you can. If you can use them all do it. If not, use the ones that work where you are.
Maybe since some people want blogs to be credible news sources, that is is an issue?
If a blog is an opinion written by someone then this court ruling should be tossed out.
If a blog is a credible news source then this court ruling is correct and should be carried out.
Pick one you cannot have it both ways. Blogs are opinions or credible news sources. Blogs cannot change from one to the other depending on the situation.
Then all of these Dell GX745, GX755, GX960 machines with the video card fan on top of the card must be all smoke and mirrors. Dell is using only BTX style in their tower desktops. The CPU is in the front and center (mostly front center) on the motherboard with a big fan pulling air in. The motherboard is installed on the other side of the case.
Now if I could only efficiently recirculate air from my 150 sqft office to the rest of the house, I wouldn't need a furnace...
If you have a furnace (or forced air system) see if you can turn on the fan only. The return(s) in the room should pull the heat out of the office to the other rooms. That is if you have a return in the office, a good system has a return (even a small one) in every room. My house built in the mid 1950's has small returns in every room.
Ever try one of those small (or large one if you do not mind carrying it around) blue tooth keyboards? I have seen a few people using them and it worked OK. I have big hands, on that small keyboard I was touch typing again.
It's even easier to blow/get blown off.
That can be an incentive to many.

This is the sort of posting that makes me think Slashdot should rename the "Anonymous Coward" account to "Anonymous Idiot."
So says someone posting as Anonymous Coward.

53 disks for a compiler. Just the compiler.
This was also the time I found out the floppy disks can go bad. The last disk went bad so I found out during an install of the compiler.
The researchers forgot one simple fact: Women always do the choosing. Which is why men say thy got lucky. They got lucky since they were picked.

I must be really old.

Would the area far between galaxies count? Or is that still a free fall? You would be so far away from any gravitational forces.
Then again that far away from everything you would be frozen solid. Or the heaters would be on full all the time.
