"All Blizzard really care about is the fact that people using this software are staying logged in to their servers much longer than they otherwise would, thus creating extra load on them. They know normal human beings have to sleep at least 6 hours a day, and some even have jobs that suck up another 8 or 9 hours. Bandwidth and CPU load = costs to them."
I disagree with this being the only concern. As a veteran of MMORPG's, I can tell you that if I play a game where I see a lot of cheating going on I will be tempted to quit outright. And believe me, people using this glider program are easy as hell to spot by anotehr player. Sure I can camp them being on a pvp server and all, but that just compounds my frustrations. The bot just continues to res every 2 minutes like clockwork FOREVER. I on the other hand have better things to do. If Blizzard decided not to do anything about this it would only do 2 things. 1) Encourage EVERYONE to get glider, makign this fellow a VERY VERY rich man. and 2) Drive players like myself away from the game, causing severe drop in revenue.
Another reason not to dable in this game. All this talk about this game makes me want to play it less and less. Don't get me wrong, what has happened is unfortunate. I would be shocked if this happened in any MMO game I play. But all the posts describing the game do not make it sound fun. Seems you need to invest insane amounts of time, and if you do you are invulnerable. And there seems to be no way for a player starting the game today to catch up.
What if the game is set agianst the background of the Civil war? That could be very interesting! I am always excited at a prospect of a new game comming out, but there is a lot we do not know yet.
First you pay for a game, then you pay to play the game, then you pay for a program to play the game for you. Anyone else sees soemthign a bit wrong with this picture?
I would be interested to see how this pans out. Of course the only way to go iss to ignore US IP laws, because a challenge to reverse a US law, especially one championed by this President, wouldn't get you anywhere. But now they got US by the balls.
It will not stop the pedophiles. Simple censorship will not stop them, and in the meantime you open up a can of worms. If the ultimate goal is to stop child abuse, shouldn't they focus on methods that WILL actually work?
To what extant do they really need to block the net? I mean I don't think that many people in China speak English, French, Spanish, or whatever other language might turn them onto Democracy. And those that do speak those languages no doubt already have their own ideas about their government.
However blocking sites in Chinese that originate outside of China might be what the government is after.
Why cry about the change? Most people don't even know all the planets. Today my girlfriend, hoping to impress me no doubt, remarked, "Did you hear that Pluto is not a planet anymore?" To this I said, "Yes I did, so how many planets does that leave us with?" The silence was deafening.
To fall for a Pyramid scheme one must be really naive. You can make simular scheme in any game you want, just need a gullible populous.
But then again most of tech stocks before the bubble burst were essencially Pyramid schemes. The only way to make money off of them was to sell before the bubble burst and leave someone else holding the bag.
This has been going on for years! No wonder it was so wide-spread if the developers had no idea it was going on. Not to mention that their games are to blame for this. Most are very insecure. I can remember my best friend having one of his Diablo 2 accounts stolen about 4-5 years ago. There was no recourse he could take to get his account back. Atleast now a days in WoW ther eis a process you can go through to reclaim your account and any items the hacker might have destroyed or characters he might have deleted. Of course in other games you are not so lucky.
The value put on these account is a direct result of bad game design. If you design a game that takes 15 days on average (ingame time) to reach to maximum level, then you add a bunch of "rare" items which take even long to acquire, you have only yourself to blame for what happens. A game where items are easily attained and lost, where the grind isn't so extensive and the main attraction of the game is the human interaction would not have these problems.
In cosmology, dark matter refers to matter particles, of unknown composition, that do not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation (light) to be detected directly, but whose presence may be inferred from gravitational effects on visible matter such as stars and galaxies.
It's a blanket term used for stuff in the universe we think is there but haven't seen because we can not detect it's presence.
My GameBoy SP still function just fine, why would I throw $200 on another portable system and have to buy new game sin different format? True DS Lite is atleast copatible with GameBoy games, but my GameBoy still works! I'm not going to retire a gadget that functions properly for a novelty of 2 screens and a stylist. Worse yet Nintendo, nor any other console/gadget manufacturer, does not have any recycling program. If they want their consumers to upgrade hardware every 2-3 years, they should atleast be enviornmentally concious enough to recycle the old ones. Maybe even go as far as incorporating parts of their old consoles into the new hardware. It would lower manufacturing costs for sure. Right now there is simply no reason for me to switch.
I don't think this is the first MMORPG that totally sucks...

Well then Sir, now is the time to return back to the fold. Especially if you are a formally disgruntled Druid.

Which CAN happen.

Sorry that's like the day after next WoW patch, I will be grinding the new PvP honor system!
I hear Macs run Windows now...
Self inflicted wounds to get attention.

Escape from reality?

Yeah I remember when I lost my interest in Legos as well. It was right about the time I discoverd women.

None of this matters to me or anyone else who graduated from high school. I already own all the music I will listen to for the rest of my life.
No I don't, she makes enough money :-)

If you have ethical issues about raising animals for food, I would love to hear what animals are for (I mean the tasty ones).

Free energy is not exactly commercially viable.

"Is it.. is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?"
"Houston calling Columbia, come in Columbia."
