I deleted my gmail account and setup my own email server a long time ago. Nothing on the internet is 100% secure, but at least I have some control. I can wipe the server anytime and keep everything encrypted as I like.

True, it is not a solution to over-population. Looking at the shrinking population of Japan, it looks like this problem will be somewhat self-regulating, at least in developed countries. It's no reason for suicide to be illegal though. In the past, suicide was considered an honorable death in many cultures. Unfortunately, some con artists came along and realized they could make a lot of money using religion to control people's personal freedoms.
People in the state of mind or enough pain, to want to kill themselves, should be allowed to do so - it's their life. Also given the state of over-population in some countries, suicide should even be encouraged and assisted. Don't act offended or point your finger at me - you are thinking it too.
There is no way I would connect to a government 5G network. We need to be very careful. Governments all over the world are starting to use the "because China" excuse to take away our privacy and freedom.
Plants are already very good at carbon sequestration. We just need nation-state level industrial projects to use solar to irrigate currently uninhabitable desert regions with desalinated sea water. Then, completely cover those regions in bamboo forests. Harvest the bamboo and bury it or use it for construction materials instead of cutting down pine treas. We already have the technology to do this on a grand scale.
Automation is fine, I like that. However, I want to be able to walk into a store, buy something with cash, and walk out, anonymously. Nobody has the right to analyze my life history of hygiene and drinking habits.
As a result, we don't have enough data to draw any conclusions about the performance or popularity of actual smart people. Most of human history is filled with leaders that were game show hosts or kleptomaniacs.
As much as I hate the NYT's propaganda, I would be very happy to see more news and information available to those who live under the criminal leadership in countries like China, Russia, and Iran. Old VPN technologies are easy to block or identify with deep packet inspection - it's not cheap to do so, but corrupt countries like China and the US have virtually unlimited resources for manipulating the internet. We need a new internet.

The post is flame bait, whatever. Sony phones have cameras that are years ahead of the iphone. That said, nobody who knows anything about photography expects a phone to replace a DSLR. The sensors and lenses simply cannot be even remotely similar, due to size limitations in phones.
