Yeah true, but I already paid for the phone, should come with all that ready, huh?;-)
But I guess this phone isn't meant for the mass market.:-)
I'd like to have one myself!
I guess you were ironic, but if not; how is that going to make people want the phone?
That's like selling a "house" to someone, and all the buyer gets is some bricks and wood.
As usual with lots of OSS projects, the device may be grand and all but there's little to no documentation about it in terms of marketing. Why would I want this? What applications does it come with? What do they look like? Can it play youtube videos? Can I listen to MP3 while I surf the web? Etc...
But I'm not nice! I hacked into my school servers many times and got suspended because of that! I use public wlans all the time, that is not nice! Why don't I get the girls:(
We need more teachers like you! When I was in 9th grade we had "extra" teachers in the class. They weren't teachers per se, but more of an aid to the slower kids in the class. They'd sit next to them in the classes and help the kids out, explaining the things they don't understand etc. Sure, this would be the teachers job, but this guy also helps out the kid at home if he needs it, and acts like an extra friend/parent in a way. Supposed to help the kid achieve and build some self esteem I guess. It worked for some, not all...
That is true, but I do get a case, booklet and the CD itself, which for me is important. Not worth the USD34 though, which is the average price of a new CD over here.
If this makes them more money in the end, I don't see a problem with it. But still, who buys files!? Get the physical thing, man, otherwise it's not worth it IMO.
FF3 RC2 using 92MB of RAM at the moment on this XP SP2 machine, with 8 tabs (1 Slashdot, the rest http://www.idg.se/ ). Only extension I'm using is adblock.
Yeah sure you could offload the compilation to other machines... but it's a laptop! (OTOH you could do all this during the install, and then just *use* the laptop without the need for other machines;-))
Apparently the performance of this CPU is equivalent of a 900 MHz Pentium-M... ( http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-2133-mini-note/4505-3121_7-32924066.html ) or an 800 MHz Intel A110. However, with HW acceleration of a lot of video formats, this won't matter much while watching video, probably. You wouldn't want to run Gentoo on this thing though.;-)
AFAIK, the THG test shows nothing. At the time of the test, almost all (AMD & Intel) motherboards supported thermal monitoring etc, and you had options in the BIOS to make the computer shut down when the CPU reaches a certain temperature. I know my Duron 700 (@ 1100) had this, on an ASUS motherboard. But of course, THG had to disable all this in order for the AMD CPU to be destroyed...
Well yeah, but it doesn't change the fact that Hotmail sucks and gmail owns it;>
OTOH, I don't know how many "customers" Hotmail has compared to gmail, but it has to be more, right? With all these MSN Messenger users... (yeah I know you can use a gmail email as a passport.net (or whatever it is) account and use that with messenger, but not everyone knows that)
What I care for most is the speed of the browser when dealing with multiple tabs... Firefox (using on both XP and Archlinux) slows down to a crawl when I middleclick a lot of links, sometimes up to 7 or so seconds. This is on a P4 2.6... Sure, not the fastest thing out there, but it shouldn't lock up while loading all the tabs in the background...
I have Deer Park installed and IIRC it behaves the same. No?
Ha! Fsckers!
What? Checking my filesystem has suddendly become "nerdy"? Why I oughta...
Yeah true, but I already paid for the phone, should come with all that ready, huh? ;-)

Hah! Checking my addons in FF3, and on AVG Safe Search 8 it says "Not compatible with Firefox 3.0". Awesome :-)

How many polygons were there in the textures again? :-P
Why is this bad?

... for one, welcomes our new self-replicating copy machine overlods.
... but is it open source? Yes! Screenshot: http://google-gadgets-for-linux.googlecode.com/svn/images/ggl-standalone.jpg

Because (afaik) Gentoo primarily compiles its packages, and that would take a very long time on this piece of hardware.

Abandonware doesn't in any way mean it's free..

Well, it might crack, it's glass afterall... :-p
It works flawlessy in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051117 Firefox/1.5, I'd say 60 fps at least.
Yeah I know, but come on, my post was meant to be a joke. :-(
Of course, there is no 2.7 kernel and no plans at all to create one.
What?! There's no plans at all to create a 2.7 kernel? Oh man, I can see the future now... Soon we'll all be cheering for the 2.6.142 kernel release.
