the trumpet and the bugle are very closely related.
a trumpeter has the skills required to play bugle, however they're not necesarrily well-honed. A buglist changes pitch by changing the shape of his lips etc, a trumpter does this to some extent already.
I'd say it's more like a bass guitar player to an upright bass player, some of the skills are there, but there's more to learn.
facebook?
it's already got excellent features and is entirely geared towards the academic side.
it only allows people with a valid college email to join, it links people through classes and has a slick interface.
the DS Would need more than a keyboard and a bigger screen to be an effective tool in the way thi $100 PC is envisioned to be. This $100 laptop can be used as a development platform, the DS can't.
you lose your quality in playback, with vinyl.
The sound of a needle dragging across a record is simply not what I would call 'high definition.'
Even with true analog sound, the quality lost in analog transmission probably evens the field. They sound different, but I think that 'quality' has to go to digital, 'cause I'd bet a dollar that digital representations are good enough for most human ears.
SUBJECTIVE quality, perhaps, could go to analog. People are nostalgic, they grew up listening to those records, it's how they first heard the music maybe. The semmingly 'cold' sound of digital recording doesn't interest them, perhaps.
I know i'll probably never buy a tube amplifier for my guitar, because a digital processor can make the sounds I want, but a lot of rockers still like the sound of 'em.
I say go with the format you like, but do not tout superiority when really the field is much more level than that.
I -still- don't understand people's insistence that vinyl sounds better.
The proper phraseology is that you PREFER the sound, not that it is of higher quality. The 'wamer' sound is an artifact of 'inferior' technology.
sometimes in america we call them 1/8th inch because obviously we can't use the metric system. Also it relates the plug to the 1/4" 'studio-style' plugs.
stereo miniplug is another common name.
is the website for BMW one that you'd really need to search for? I mean, honestly? I usually don't search for a website until I've tried obvious URLs...
Too much carelessness around grammar and spelling leads to muddier thinking and sometimes requires extra interpretation from the readers.
While this is true, it's also true that most readers will screen out minor mistakes such as this unconciously, and will likely at most pause for a moment before continuing on. CmdrTaco's point that grammar is not critical, in my opinion at least, stands.
It is not possible to comment on small spelling and grammar mistakes without sounding excessively picky. I say, accept it and move on.
On another note, it is nice to know about the publishing policy.
ABS does shorten stopping distances on wet or snow covered roads, but if the road is dry, the stop time will be much shorter if the wheels lock and you skid.
No, the maximum stopping power is obtained when the wheels are just short of locking up, you can apply more friction to the brake discs than the tires apply to the road.
Locking the wheels not only increases your stopping distance but removes the ability steer. Locking your wheels is bad.
and on top of that, that random number isn't the same every time.
further, the physical key itself is also an electronic key nowadays. The ignition won't go unless it detects the presence of a chip (think RFID) that's typically located in the fat part at the top of the key.
Modern cars are hard to steal.
I don't really 'base' my argument against zealotry on this point, it seemed a natural progression. I do admit this was poor wording on my part.
While it is true that the actual security of a piece of software is not affected by its popularity, it is inevitable that any more popular software is more likely to be scrutinized by people looking for ways to break it, than is software with a very small percantage of a market.
This is, in my opinion, just an example of the downside to popularity. As more and more people begin to use firefox, more and more people will find ways to break it.
I use both firefox and iexplore on different machines, for the simple reason that on my new laptop, iexplore does not render images properly, and firefox was the easiest fix. I do not believe in zealotry, especially for web browsers, since firefox is losing some security it had due to obscurity.
This is relatively minor news, but I think it's just the beginning of equalization between the browsers.
A microwave oven uses massively more power than any kind of radio surveilance system would.
The amount of power going into this proposed system would be more on par with a small radio transmitter, probably no more than a few watts, versus the power output of a microwave which is usually 1000 watts or more. This system would be no more dangerous than the radio stations in your town.
no, the attitude that least to penicillin resistant bacteria is this:
Doctor: Oh my, you've got the sniffles! Have some penicillin!
Patient: Yay!
yes, but with this two-tier model, you'll be paying for bandwidth (a cost you already have) AND for 'premium' service.

if I want interactive, I use the computer.
On the rare occasion I watch TV, I don't want to like, interact with the commercials. that's stupid.

isn't saying wireless bluetooth(a wireless standard) a bit like saying heated oven?
i've been waiting for halo 2 on the PC forever man.

Now if only it would allow you to search multiple search engines like Firefox's built in search
What? It's -google- toolbar....
The controllers went, in my mind, from joystick to gamepad... is this an incorrect viewpoint?
From the article: "...one hard drive contained approximately 40 full-length motion videos..."
I assume they misspoke when they meant to say 'Motion pictures'

car keys use R/F, not IR. And not in the ranges your iTrip or whatever broadcasts on, either.
The Plimp! 'How are you getting to france?' 'Oh, I'm plimping!'

I like how that last article is vaguely anti-hunting.
....that is all
don't forget the grease in wendy's fryolaters! this is CRITICAL to survival
